An original Jamaican skin told me there was no distinction between black and white skinheads, it was just a youth movement. Part of what happened was when lots of these kids left school, some of them couldn't find work. Groups such as the NF were actively recruiting, hanging around dole offices and passing out literature. Some of the white kids unfortunately turned against their black mates. May have been just a temporary bandwagon but it seems before NF infiltration, there was no problem

Thanks for posting. This is one of my all time favourites. I think this song is a part of the feud between Derick Morgan and Prince Buster.  Buster had accused Morgan of stealing his songs which lead to him recording Black Head Chinee (because Morgan was produced by Lesley Kong) and Morgan responding with Blazin Fire and this song. So the person he is 'knocking out' is Buster.

Rival fans clashed and the Jamaican Government intervened arranging a photo of the two men together and claimed for the press that they were really best of friends. The feud began around 1962 into the beginning of 1963. Morgan recorded for Buster in 1961 on his Wild Bells label. Friends and rivals they were, as Morgan would record with Buster in Britain and Jamaica by 1965.

Morgan followed with The Conquer, which is why he says I'm quite sure I can knock you out

Thanks for the explanation. I always thought skinhead reggae referred to the artists that have short hair or shaved heads and sing about stuff other than race and culture, as opposed to the rasta reggae. I think I've seen the skinheads as you explain them, usually wearing doc martens, white t-shirt and suspenders, and jeans folded at the bottom. I think that style or culture has faded off...too bad. I've heard "coming from the north with my face to the south" somewhere before.

@atomic116090 the term "skinhead" in this instance doesn't actually refer to racism. before the more commonly known violent skinheads there was a vibrant working class scene in england heavily influenced by the sounds of early reggae from jamaica, they refined the sound slightly and in turn influenced prominent artists in the carribean. hence the term "skinhead reggae".
