  • @BjornRiis hey you're amazing, what is your setting on the bd-2 and the muff?

  • @Maioil

    Muff: sustain 60%, tone 40%, volume 60%. BD2 (modified version) gain 10:00, tone 10:00, volume 1:00.

  • @BjornRiis Thank you man

  • very good but sounds flat a bit

  • Hello Bjorn! Are these vintage frets or medium jumbo ones ?

  • Love that weird bend at 00:56!

  • very good !!!

  • DVD version not CD version.... good choice.. by far my favorite version.... i love the epic bend @ 1:01 ive been trying to perfect the comfortably numb solo 4 yonks.. it aint easy lol.. slap in comfortably numb venice solo and watch that if you have 5 minutes to spare.. it seems like dave improvises 90% of it but does such an amazing job.... absolute legend!!! awesome playing by the way dude! keep it up!! :-)

  • @jaydaintith

Thanks! The Venice show is great. David improvised a lot on the last leg of the 1987-90 Momentary tour... some of the stuff was amazing.

  • You just played this solo from PULSE...

  • Muff and BD2 setting please?Thanks!!!

  • Bd2 setting?Thanks!!!

  • This is MORE" improvisation" to a ORIGINAL solo, MAN!!!

  • Comment removed

  • this is more improvisation to a original solo

  • The way your thumb is angled makes it look like you're holding a small penis in your right hand. Nice playing though.

  • i dont like it buttt......... very good

  • nice playing... good job on the variation from the original, /and those licks standing up next to the orig!

  • @MrDerake It is actually quite difficult to play david's guitar solos because not only must you have the talent, and technique but you must also have the feel and the soul and thats whats most important.

  • thank you soo much finally someone thats not a fucking amateur to show me if these things are worth buying!!!! all the videos ive seen everyone is playing like when i was fuckin 9 years old and only used my pointer. lol

  • It's not so difficult to play David's guitar solos because he doesn't have a speed. I love his blue style though.

  • very good my friend =)

  • This is fantastic!

I'm trying to work it out, but get a bit lost when you get up around the eleventh fret bends. Do you have this tabbed out? I would love to get a copy.

    Cheers!

  • Oh! Really good!!

  • love it man! great feel and tone...and i love that you're playing a black strat

  • nice feel and tone, well done :-)

  • you play well but i think you should play this solo with more emotion.

    keep it up dude.

  • Good Stuff Man!!!!

    Check My Version!!!

  • thumbs up for

    1.sound

    2.playing

    3.song choice

    4.black strat

  • @lukindel

    Thanks!

  • @BjornRiis i should add

    5. jimi hendrix leather guitar strap (like gilmour's present from polly samson)

    6. Beatles shirt

  • @lukindel

You forgot to mention thumbs up for:

    5. Jimi Hendrix strap (david own and wears the original).

  • @lukindel AND: for the wonderful strap!!! :)

  • You are wearing a Beatles shirt in this vid, Sacrilege! LOL JK but seriously what's with the Beatles T-shirt? Pink Floyd is soooo much better

  • @guitarheroguy5

Ah... I'm playing a Floyd tune so I guess I'm excused... Don't you think?

  • @BjornRiis Are you wearing a Jimi Hendrix strap? Cool video man!

  • @guitarheroguy5 Asshole

  • @guitarheroguy5 Hey, The Beatles are good, but Pink Floyd is the best ever in my opinion. Anyway, he;s got the right to wear whatever he wants. Besides I was just joking with him anyway don't take offense

  • @guitarheroguy5 Don't get me wrong because Pink Floyd is my favorite all time band, but you gotta love the Beatles man. The Beatles paved the way for music by opening up the possibilities of musical experimentation. Before they did it it was pretty much frownded upon to sound different than other musicians hahaha. Yet like I said Pink Floyd is my favorite all time band and always will be. Just saying the Beatles are also amazing and you gotta respect them for making late 60's acid rock possible.

  • @lukezabel15 Definitley man The Beatles paved the way and Im glad they did I guess what I should of said was I'm not crazy about the Beatles they are AWESOME just not my favorite sorry If I offended any Beatles fans Remember Rocky Raccoon

  • @guitarheroguy5 No offense taken man. I wish music today could be as good as it was back then. Don't get me wrong there are still good bands that come around now but nothing quite like the music that was created in the late 60's and early 70's. That was an era of music that I'm not sure will ever be topped. :( Although, as long as new musicians keep emerging who know what good music is and are influenced greatly by it.......there's still hope to keep music alive! =D

  • @guitarheroguy5 Both GREAT bands. Completely different.

  • @guitarheroguy5 who cares?

  • What kind of Guitar band u have around ur neck, its the original one gilmour uses. Do you know how its called ? Im trying to find 1 for ages.

  • @EspNik

    Check out Jeridesigns(.)com

  • sweet...

  • nice same strap even. =P no better guitarist to mimic

  • what about the univibe? :)

  • veryy gooodd for pulse version

  • Really love the time solo pulse style. Maybe you could do another brick part 2 pulse style some day. Love that solo.

  • what pickups in in the neck?

  • @jamarote

    Fender Custom Shop 69

  • sweet, u can check out mine version if u want ;)

  • very good brother... where you found this tab... please.. send to me? thanks a lot

    yankelss@yahoo.com.br

  • Bro, what is that tremolo?

  • @OMGitsnano

    It's a Callaham Vintage S bridge system.

  • @BjornRiis Hmm, thanks bro

  • HI!! Is it possible that David use an uni vibe on this solo in PULSE?? The sound has a vibe-like modulation....

    BYE!!

  • @ANACONDO1975

Yes he did... That's why I called the clip PULSE-ish :)

  • omg is that a black strat replica?

  • @TheMetalFloyd666

Nope. It's a '96 Fender Japan 50s reissue with Fender CS 69 neck and mid pickups and a Duncan SSL5 bridge pickup.

  • @BjornRiis have you considered replacing the neck pickup with a custom shop fat 50, I heard it goes really well with the Gilmour tone ;)

  • do you play in a band ????? or are you just another bed room player ?

  • @papalazerus22

I play guitar in Airbag, a Norwegain prog band airbagsound(.)com and I host Gilmourish(.)Com

  • @BjornRiis top man i am glad to hear it i love gilmourish ! nice one mate i play in an Engling floyd trib band called relics . we have stuff on here

  • this is unbelieveable. Great cover from the pulse gig like note perfect well in :)

  • @fumes20

    Thanks!

  • hey dude what muff do you preffer to get the gilmour sound ram's head or sovtek?

  • @davemustainfield95

    Sovtek.

  • never sell a guitar !!! Never

  • How'd you have the amp set? I get my 5212 (2x12 vs 1x12 5210) tomorrow and this is without the first solo I'm trying on it.

  • david start and his belt .. .. dude .. have ur style !

  • @YahyaFX david start and his belt..have ur style....HUH?

  • @branch1234 he is good !

  • @YahyaFX u didnt make sense thats all

  • awesome playing Bjorn, keep posting!

  • @ledzepfloyd28 Do you not know how to read? He said it was the Time solo FROM PULSE. He wasn't trying to play the studio version. If he was, he would have done it perfectly as usual.

  • Kult! ELSKER DAVID GILMOUR! drit bra

  • what tremolo bridge you had on that blackie? oh and where did u get the pickguard? is it a one ply? and is it acrylic?

  • Nice...

  • do u use the BYOC beaver on any of these? i know DG used the fuzz face rams head and triangle on most of his early stuff. i almost got a green sovtek for about $150 but didn't cause i wanted to wait around for a rams head to pop up on ebay but it sounds like the green sovtek does the job

  • actually gilmour did play the studio version live...at least on his solo tour for "On an Island" this dude is off though, it was a good attempt but deff not the correct solo, nice try guy

  • @ledzepfloyd28

On pulse David Did not play the studio version...

Anyway; Playing guitar isn't about copying other peoples stuff, but use yourself and YOUR emotions and feelings to create new solos that feels right for YOU, and representate YOU, even though it's a cover...

    I hope that made sense..

  • @ledzepfloyd28 it clearly says PULSEish. which means its a cover of the solo off pulse, not any other tour.

  • felicitaciones! arriba floyd!

  • very nice !! can you give me the mark of your strap please ??

    gilmour 4 ever !! THE MASTER !!!

  • very nice man. could you please do the original studio version? i dont think gilmour has ever played the original solo in any concerts.

  • @cophahn at my channel there are some covers i performed. One of them is the Time solo, note for note as the original. If you want you can check it out?

  • is that a American Standard strat with a black pickguard?

  • It's a '96 MIJ Classic 50s.

  • excellent.

  • COOL!!!!

    VERY COOL!!!

  • Awesome 5 stars from me

  • hey man

    good playing

    5/5

    GOD bless you

    Marques Junior.

  • Bro, what's tht strat in the back??

  • It's a Fender MIM Classic 70s. Don't have it anymore.

  • Nice job but you gotta go for some pinch harmonics in the first :30...while I don't think he hits them in the "pulse" version he does in other live versions on the first two 4-->6 bends on.

  • Comment removed

  • "This sounds way different fom the original".........this is the solo from Pulse, hence "Time solo PULSEish".

    Me like this. Well done!

  • dude you freakin' rock, you need to be the front man for a floyd tribute band.

  • lool ! its gilmore !

  • ECCELLENTE!!!

  • this sounds way different from the original. but i like it. very nicely done. you have a good sound. keep it up!!!

  • gilmore lol!!!

  • its a fender strat, gilmore model. pre much

  • what guitar do you use in this song ??

  • Congratulations! A real guide for everyone who loves and plays Pink Flod (and Gilmour obviously)...A question: I would like to substitute my standard bridge pick-up (Fender) with a Seymour Duncan SSL-5. Would it be a real improvement in terms of sound? Moreover, how can you play with CS-2 and Muff, BD-2 avoiding noise? Thank a lot

  • drit bra bjørn! antar at du er norsk...

  • Jepp! Jeg er norsk :) Takk!

  • Nice...this isnt relevant to the playing but what kind of strings do u use?I i find that coated super slinkeys are the best for bends

  • For the moment I'm using GHS David Gilmour signature strings.

  • Great job Bjorn, love your website. Long live Gilmour!

  • I know this is completely irrelevant to the playing, but I love the cardigan.

  • Bra Bjørn! =D

  • big muff lol

  • Nice job AGAIN LOL =D Ever think of doing "any colour you like" solo?

  • hey, perfect solo ^^ please, take a look to me playing time (dark side of the moon version) in my channel :) bye

  • BjornRiis: visit my tribute to "coming back do life". Thanks. You are a great guitarman. Viva Gilmour!

  • awesome!!

  • the hardest thing about this solo is that to get it right you need three comprseeors for that tone he has. still not bad

  • His EMG pickups with the mid range booster is the most important ingredient for his PULSE tones. This can be compensated by using mid rangy pedals like a Tube Screamer and a RAT and also an EQ to boost the mid range. He's setup on the PULSE version is a Big Muff, Tube Driver, UniVibe and delay. No compression.

  • oh yeah i was talking original version

  • amazing! love your site!

  • hey , yea i'm just starting, what could anyone recommend to get closer to Gilmour's sound?

  • Please see my site gilmourish(.)com. You'll find your answers there...

  • Would you recommend getting a 50 watt Bogner amp????

  • ahhh ok. well im thinking of getting the beaver soon so i will experiment with post muff overdrive / boosting!

  • great cover bjorn, i love watching your clips! great tone from that amp, i own a 5010 and surprise myself daily with the sounds i can get from it. i am thinking about getting the byoc large beaver after reading your review. but im curious as to where and why you use a bd-2?

  • Thanks! I'm using the BD-2 the same way I'm using the Tube Driver and Colorsound Powerboost on my stage board - as a clean volume booster for the Muff. It's placed after the Muff to give it a slight volume boost, more attack and just more balls.

  • I hate when somebody clones not his own guitar, I prefer to create my own style

  • and create your own language...

  • coming from a guy who plays a sunburst strat. very uhm original.

  • nice guitar but your thumb pisses me off.. sorry but annoying thumb makes me wanna cut it off.. or at least superglue it straight..lol

  • Oh, indeed... Of course the looks are /that/ much more important than the sound.

    >__>

  • I have a naturally outward bending thumb on my left hand much like this guy seems to have on his right.

The only differance is the bone joint apearing as a tip to the arrow shape the thumb is making I play at the back of my guitars neck.

It's part of my double jointed hands, which this man probably also has.

All in all more power to him, e probably can stretch his hands to rediculous fretting intervals, which i find very useful in a musician.

  • nice guitar

  • you need a bit of fuzz just my opinon

  • that was absoluitilly perfect

i loved every second, 5 stars!!!

    p.s. try adding some reverb

  • awesome tone. what big muff do you think is better for playing the wall songs? thanks

  • Any of them would do really but David used a "ram's head" so I guess that would get you the best tone.

  • Bjorn, I have a question I was hoping you could answer. I've always really enjoyed David's tone from Delicate and Pulse, and can't seem to find a happy medium, singles don't satisfy what I'm looking for, and sometimes I feel like humbuckers can get close to it, but miss the mark by too much. Anyway, down to my question, being sixteen I can't say I have the $300 for the pickguard, plus money for another strat. I have to move this to another comment, it's reaching the limit.

  • But, it seems that there is a company named Dragonfire, who makes clones of EMG singles coils, my question is, do you know anything about them, have any experience with them or know someone who does? I mean the price is low, as in $22 for one pickup low. So, I was wondering, because the price seems low enough to make me wonder about the quality, but the price also seems low enough to take the risk and find out, any thoughts or knowledge on these pickups?

  • I've never tried the Dragonfire pickups so I can't really tell. If you don't to spend too much money on pickups you could go for pedals with more mid range like a Maxon/Ibanez 808 Tube Screamer and a GE-7 to further boost the mids. The Tube Screamer will get you close to David's Shine On, Coming Back to Life tones on PULSE. Use a compressor as well to get the most tone from the pedal. I also recommend a RAT or a green/Ciwil War Sovtek Big Muff for the leads.

  • I just wanted to thank you for posting your videos. I enjoy watching them. They are simply amazing. It seems so easy to play like Mr. Gilmour does, but it is not. You are a great guitar player. Would you try to play "Marooned" some day for each and every Pink Floyd fan of us? I think that it would be a great experience, not only for you, but for us too. Have you ever thought about it? Do you agree guys? Greetings from Mexico, City.

  • Bjorn is a Gilmour maniac like me HAHA

  • hey how many springs in the Bridge t those this strat has==???

  • I use three.

  • cool ive a 68 stratocaster and im tryng to modify it as "The Black Strat"

what Bridge do you recommend... the Fender Vintage?

  • I'm using Callaham Vintage S on all my Strats. Highly recommended!

  • where can i buy it... ?

  • Try their web page :)

  • At least gilmour strat used as well as it can be

  • Comment removed

  • Question not sure if I should by a Marshall 5210 12" Speaker Cabinet on ebay short money $30- or kust stick with my Fender Blues Jr. NOS tweed? Any opinions. OH BY THE WAY.......great job as always.

  • Sounds like you are using your iMac's mic to record the sound, couldn't you use a line out from the amp and record direct ?

  • What are the settings for the delay?

  • I'm using a Boss DD-2 with the time at about 3:00 for aprox 500ms, level 9:00 and feedback 12:00.

  • Supreme Master Bjorn! One more fantastic performance! Congratulations from a fan of Gilmourish.

  • nice play, nice sound

  • Hi Bjorn!

Great as always! and wow! u've lost a lot of weight! congratz! u may have to start a new web xplaining how to loose weight :) hehehe

    Daniel

  • Now everyone's interested in my weight... LOL! Yes, I have lost some weight during the last months I think the angle is lying too. It's not that I'm skinny or anything. More like David around 1994 *grin*!

  • I was about to ask the same ;)

    Cheers!

    ChrisZ

  • Maybe you need a Candy Apple Red strat with EMG's now, Bjorn. lol

  • Hi Bjorn - that's my all time favorite piece of PULSE. Excellent sound and play.

  • Do you use the Gilmour signature strings? If not what do you use?

  • Great as always. You seemed to have lost quite a bit of weight too!

  • Hi bjorn!!.

Are you using any modulation here? It's not listed in your effects..

Great sound.. simple setup..just keep up man!

  • Great playing and sound. 5*

  • It's very nice playing amazing sound

  • Lookin good man...no more AA Green Russian? sell it?

  • Haven't sold it just trying different stuff. I have the BYOC Large Beaver triangle on my stage board.
