Presumably a state funded cremation to save on cremation due to her being homeless. Just guessing, I don't know how they try and do it in Sweden.

The fate of the baby isn't revealed, but since it's healthy in the scans, then it's entirely possible that it was born healthy despite the mothers condition. Sadly, for Max there doesn't seem to be anything to suggest he has anything approaching a happy ending :/
