actually kjeroh, Independents have a plethora of platforms to choose from if you consider "platforms" positions on political issues. What would you consider a "true" platform? AND I don't believe as an Independent myself, that I am opposed to political parties as an idea or even a movement. I am opposed however, to the way the Democrats and the Republicans are beholden to lobbyists and corporations as an alliance strategy to easy political victories.
Omar Ali made a very clear distinction between Independents and the Tea Party. Independents are actually opposed to political parties and they are largely a single issue movement. Independents, in the other hand, have no true platform beyond reform, inclusion and non-partisanship.
