I like non-evangelizing moderates and liberals, live and let live is a good motto. What I truly hate is the suppression of science by religion. Science is an internationally, universally accepted truth only because it's completely predicated upon objective reality. Along comes regional religions demanding they change science in their area to better match their subjective dogma, because objective reality hurts their feelings. Agreed, but the flaw in this is when the science directly contradicts the scripture. Evolution for example, has overwhelming volumes of evidence in it's favor, creationism has the scripture and that's it. However, because Evolution contradicts the bible the evidence must be wrong, or was planted by Satan to confuse us. Here is something to think about on the evolution thing. The bible says that the earth was created by God in seven days. The twenty four hour day wasnt established until a few thousand years ago. The bible says that a day to god is like millions of years to humans. Since Creation started with the simplest creations first moving up to the most complex it could be thought that God created life over billions of years through evolution. Instead of seven days say seven intervals of time and it works.
What your saying is refered to as deism. The idea that God didn't create everything himself, but created the systems out of which everything has arisen, then left. The problem with this ideal is the bible literally says seven days, Adam & Eve, the Universe is only 6000 y/o. I am not refrencing deism. I do believe that the bible is Gods word and is one hundred percent true but i dont buy the 6000 year theory. The actual hebrew word that was translated into "day" is the word "yowm" or "yowe" which translates more acuratly into a "chronical of time" or an "age." Later the word evolved its meaning to an actual twenty four hour day but that wasn't until around the time of the israilites enslavement in egypt. I think it is a good idea to question religions. If you blindly believe something you can easily be mislead. I personally studied the big five world religions and found that christianity was the one for me. If you actually get past the hypocritical nonsense and trash that some churches throw out there and get to the heart of christianity and its teachings it is a wonderful religion. And yes i have read the old testiment, but I spend most of my time and studies in the new testiment.

I have read up on evolution and geology and Richard Dawkins does sound familiar but i cant remember wheter or not i have read any of his books. One thing that is interesting about Christianity and Judaism is many of the people and places mentioned are being re-discovered by archiologist today. Advocating violence is not protected by the 1st Amendment. Offensive as they may be, the WBC do not advocate violence. They are inflamatory, but many people in this country would find a gay pride parade inflamatory. Selective censorship sets a dangerous precedent. If you don't like what they are saying, you have the right to protest.
Secondly, I would be more concerned about being slain by the skinheads or the nazis of the KKK than these people. Again, they don't advocate violence, and nobody likes them. I like non-evangelizing moderates and liberals, live and let live is a good motto. What I truly hate is the suppression of science by religion. Science is an internationally, universally accepted truth only because it's completely predicated upon objective reality. Along comes regional religions demanding they change science in their area to better match their subjective dogma, because objective reality hurts their feelings. It's harsh but feelings do not exist beyond the person feeling them.

Agreed, but the flaw in this is when the science directly contradicts the scripture. Evolution for example, has overwhelming volumes of evidence in it's favor, creationism has the scripture and that's it. Here is something to think about on the evolution thing. The bible says that the earth was created by God in seven days. The twenty four hour day wasnt established until a few thousand years ago. The bible says that a day to god is like millions of years to humans. Since Creation started with the simplest creations first moving up to the most complex it could be thought that God created life over billions of years through evolution. Instead of seven days say seven intervals of time and it works.

I am not refrencing deism. I do believe that the bible is Gods word and is one hundred percent true but i dont buy the 6000 year theory. The actual hebrew word that was translated into "day" is the word "yowm" or "yowe" which translates more acuratly into a "chronical of time" or an "age." Later the word evolved its meaning to an actual twenty four hour day but that wasn't until around the time of the israilites enslavement in egypt. I also never said God leaft I beleive he is still active.

I think it is a good idea to question religions. If you blindly believe something you can easily be mislead. I personally studied the big five world religions and found that christianity was the one for me. If you actually get past the hypocritical nonsense and trash that some churches throw out there and get to the heart of christianity and its teachings it is a wonderful religion. And yes i have read the old testiment, but I spend most of my time and studies in the new testiment.

One thing that is interesting about Christianity and Judaism is many of the people and places mentioned are being re-discovered by archiologist today. There are also several books out there on how Christianity and Evolution can work together (which is my personal belief). I would go into details but I dont have enough space left in this response.

Well the word in hebrew that translates into the english word "day" in the old testiment literally translates into "age" or "period of time". The actually 24 hour day didn't come into meaning until the time of the egyptians. This is one example of how these theories can work to gether. There is a great book out there called "God and Evolution" i forget the author but it is possible to believe in both.

The bible's earliest recoded documents are the dead sea scrolls (520 B.C.E) and the egyptian culture began to develop around 600 B.C.E. Because the dead sea scrolls are the only surviving copy from time it is impossible to date the exact time of the first writing. They could have pre dated the egyptians easily or perhaps not. Its still up for debate.

The Early Dynastic Period (in which Egyptian culture began to form began around 2920BC (which puts you off by over 2000 years) Ramesses II was from the 19th Dynasty and ruled from 1290-1224BC. Again- 600+ years before you have Egyptian culture beginning. By 600BC Egypt was in the 26th Dynasty and the empire was in decline. So yes- the Egyptian civilization pre-dated the bible by quite a lot. The oldest passages of the Bible were actually written by the Pharaoh Akhenaten.

I agree they must be silenced. They are true destructive treasonists. However we must act by changing the law to prevent abuse to continue. Do we allow children to be picketed or are they to be protected. Would we allow this type of protest by KKK outside a synogue or black congregation? NO. The WBC are a farce being about GOD. Their true motive is money.. to cause inflammatory action so they have avenue to sue and generate revenue. Change the law to protect all services.

The message of true Christianity is that a just and holy God loves us all, and sees our sins equally, WBC espouses a doctrine of Hate, there hate is just as great a sin in the eyes of God as the sin they so ardently condemn .

We here at VR recognise that WBC are not your typical christians, and this video is not intended as any kind of statement about christainity in general- merely christainity taken to perverse extremes. It's also a mild political statement reminding people that (for the time being at least) it's still a free country, and that while people like this may annoy and offend us, it's important that they not be silenced.

Advocating violence is not protected by the 1st Amendment. Offensive as they may be, the WBC do not advocate violence. They are inflamatory, but many people in this country would find a gay pride parade inflamatory. Selective censorship sets a dangerous precedent. How long do you think your views will be tolerated once that door is opened? If the WBC can be censored, then so can the communists. Then the socialists. Then you. If you don't like what they are saying, you have the right to protest.

Secondly, I would be more concerned about being slain by the skinheads or the nazis of the KKK than these people. Again, they don't advocate violence, and nobody likes them. In fact, I have it on good authority than the skins and the nazis hate them (for their anti-nationalist attitudes) and I wouldn't be surprised if the KKK considers them 'race traitors' since (beieve it or not) the Phelps family spent the 60's arguing civil rights cases.

To sum it all up, the 1st Amendment protects your rights as well as theirs. If you don't like what they are saying, by all means go out and counter protest. The cops won't stop you- They hate the WBC too. But it's a slippery slope once you start censoring unpopular points of view. That's how it started in Nazi Germany, and it's a lot closer to starting here than most people realise.

Also, some theologian somewhere concluded at some point that they don't have souls, so the bible really doesn't apply to them. They are merely props.
