I think many Americans are drawn to the idea of royalty — at least the wealth bit, not the responsibility. It's how we have a Republican Party that props up a wealthy elite and shrieks "class warfare" if it's suggested they should abide by the same rules of taxation the rest of us do, and has substantial support from the fools among the poor.
Ironically republicans elsewhere are opposed to the system of nobility, and there is no class system here, as royalty is the upper class.
i love charlie brooker and british panel shows but i wish they would stop showing fox news clips. I could die happy if that station never existed or was taken off air and never ever broadcasted again anywhere.
@DragonmanX90 It was the women who liked it. My aunts, my mom, all of them were talking about it but my uncles and grand dad didn't care. My theory; it's the story of a prince marrying a princess before he goes on to become the king - that is the kind of stories little girls grow up with in the west. Even in the US. Watching the royal wedding and obsessing over it was a way for them to live out those little girl fantasies again. The next best thing to owning that unicorn they all wanted.
bet her family members were scabs

Can someone please explain to me why Americans cared about the Royal Wedding at all? Seriously I don't freaking get it! WHY!!?
This man is absolutely hilarious, I wish I could come up with stuff like this and say it with a straight face.

@DragonmanX90
I believe Brooker's "How TV Ruined Your Life" episode on "Aspirations" might give you some insight into that.
I agree whole-heartedly, the man is brilliant.
