omg omg omg. I just did this battle like 2 seconds ago. I did what you Suggested and Calculated his HP. He had 60 HP Left and I had both members alive. I kill Zidane and Attack with Garnet. I forgot about Zidanes auto life. So I thought I screwed up and I got SOOO LUcky Garnet Missed her attack and Shell Dragon Smashed Zidane who already had 1 HP and I won w000tt!!!! its about time I get some fuhkin luck. I spent 10 Hours trying to beat Meltigemini.

Or if you're stupid like me, forget to learn Shiva and have to keep in unflagged anyway!

The first time you summon an eidolon you will always get the full animation. It is an optional goal for the perfect game to preserve the un-summoned state of all eidolons (with the exception of Madeen, who is automatically flagged at Mount Gulug).

If you're serious about trying this on PAL I suggest you don't worry about this. This fight is MUCH faster and easier with Shiva.

Actually I think Madden unflags after Mt. Gulug, because I've had the full one after proplerly summoning it.

I tested it myself, Madeen doesn't play the full animation. I had never summoned it manually, so it must be because of Mt. Gulug.

Amazing guide! Been following it all the way from scratch, though I'm stuck at this point..

Forgot to equip Garnet before entering Bran Bal, and also forgot to learn Auto-float with Zidane. Since I don't have any eidolons equipped with Garnet, it's almost impossible to get past this point. Too bad I don't have any backup saves either:/

Got any tips for dealing with this situation? Is there any way to get Garnet in the party before fighting these bosses?

hmmm.. why zidane cant have any levels with current equipment? 'stat losing' what the hell it is?! u gain more stats on greater lvls!! did u know that?!

No no no. Read the stat maxing FAQ on GameFAQs. What equipment you have influences EXTRA stat boosts when you gain levels, in addition to the normal stat gains. Without a Dark Gear or Power Vest, both of which are only available on Disc 4, Zidane's stats AT LEVEL 99 will be LOWER if he takes any more EXP now.

... i dont really see a point in maxing stats really because i its not a problem to finish the game unless ur a perfectionist seriously its necron is sooo easy even at lvl 54

Having max stats is considered part of the "Perfect game" aspect of this challenge (if I am not mistaken).

To calculate Shell Dragon's HP, like I said in the comments. I shortened them considerably to make it more watchable. Actually, one of them towards the end was just so I could get some time to think and calm down because I was so nervous.

I sincerely hope this is somehow easier with level 26(?) Zidane. If I get all minimum bonus attacks, I think it leaves him at 1 HP. That's only what, a 1 in 2,097,152 chance... Oh dear god...

Actually, redoing the calculation, it looks like 5 attacks should put me right around the right amount of damage.
