cant you display a nober at the end??? for excample this way: 00000000 00000000 00011000 00011000 00101000 00100100 01001000 00001000 00001000 00010000 00001000 00100000 00011100 00111100 00000000 00000000 and so on... that would look reaaly nice!
@muh1h1 Very good point, the completed version of the game (which I don't actually have a video of) does tell you what level you made it to once you have crashed. Basically just as you have described = )

You fool. I got a PSP for 40 bucks. I bet that thing cost you over 100.
You can't beat China. IDT anyone will buy your game. Why would you keep on working at it?? I am sorry but if your where like 9 or 10 and did that. I'd say wow and cool. But you are a grown man. You will never make anything useful much less ever get it to industry. Herd the real money is in running an electronics parts store. Thumbs up if you agree/
@silverpizza100 Dude, he did it for fun. If you're good with electronics, why not make something with it, like a cook simply cooks? I've seen hundreds of videos on YouTube, all of technological tidbits, and they simply make it because they have fun while making it. And they have fun while playing it, over and over again.
I hate people that rant about something that's simply not worth ranting about. Why spend your time on YouTube being a critic? It gets you nowhere, unless it's wanted.
@silverpizza100 What an ignorant & typical troll comment. How do you know what his intentions are for this project. Many people like to just mess around with microcontrollers & create things JUST to create them, learn about them or help others. More ambitious than you will probably ever be. Many interesting things & more can be done with microcontrollers like these or the open source Arduino microcontroller. You must about 10 or so to jump to such conclusions or are just a typical troll.
@happygamestvfun1 These LED matrix' are quite cheap - you get 10 of them for about $10 from sure electronics. Although you can make them out of individual LED's it will just be a little more time consuming.
@alexito992 It is very simple to program the pic. I use a pickit2 to copy my code onto the pic. There are quite a few different programming languages out there. At the moment I have moved onto using swordfish. But this game was programmed in assembly language.
Yes, you can find all the info on this game including source code, schematic and parts list on my website. Just look in my comments box at the top right of screen for the web address.
I had a look at your video and it works really well. Have you tried placing a plastic mixing bowl over the LED? It makes the whole bowl light up and gives you a nice colour mix.
Hello, you could say that it works with shift registers, but it is all done in software.
each row requires 8bits of ram, to get it to scroll down, you just pass this 8bits of ram to the next row and so on. so it is like using 8-bit parallel shift registers.
This game is now completed and I have made quite a few improvements to it. Such as improved car movement / no screen flicker and also when you crash, it tells what level you made it up to by displaying the full number on the screen.
You use paint and program the PIC bit by bit just like i did. WTG. This way, you are in control of very single bit at anytime, unlike some people who use third party software to help load pre-made frames suck for them. This is alot of work, but it is so exciting and fun. Happy troubleshooting, you know that feeling! WTG!
For anyone who is interested, i have designed a new hand held game system that can play all sorts of games like this car game, tetris, pong, space invaders, a mario type game, plus loads more.
I am getting circuit boards made up and will be selling them as a kit that you can build yourself, and it will come with a cd with the assembly code of all the games and will contain tutorials on how the games work and then you can also design your own games for the system.
However, I am going to have to doubt it only took you two days. I am a designer like your self and I can say first hand projects like this take at least a week of work.
amazing, congratulations

what was the kit you buildt that game?? pickit?
metroidHC 1 year ago
I used the pickit 2 Programmer to program the pic microcontroller which is a pic16f628a.
All up you can build this game for around $10.
I am in the process of updating my website, but I will have full instructions of how to make this on my site soon.

I have made a new version of this game on an RGB led matrix with more features and special items to pick up.
I liked your other games as well.

I juat got my pickit2 and wonder how long does it take to learn such stuff. i have no expirience with MCs jet :D

It took about two days. The easy part is designing the circuit - most of the time was spent programming it, then testing it then fixing the bugs!
I've been working with microcontrollers for about a month now and they're good fun = )
