  • I have this guitar. it is fucking FLAWLESS

  • Wish YouTube had a "Love" button.

  • i thing the sg humbucker sound is the fucking best!!!

  • when this guitar came out, guitar gods were born

  • Drop it just once, and it's firewood

  • The intro riff is so badass. Totally encapsulates the vibe of the SG.

  • Dear Santa ...

  • BEST GUITAR EVER!!

  • Think SG, think Tony Iommi!

  • Gibson SG + Marshall valve amp = BOOM!!!

  • I luv the fender American Duluxe with Tremolo on it

  • And now this year (2011) its the Epiphone custom shop limited edition 50th anniversary 1961 sg over the Gibsonv1961 reissue sg. Congrats to you Epiphone for 2 of the very best sg's ever made!

  • Gibson USA this is the second year in a rowe that the usa consumer report has put Epiphone sg's over your Gibson standard and your 1961 reissue sg's. Last year (2010) it was the Epiphone G-400 standard 1962 sg over the Gibson standard sg.

  • lespauls better

  • Same pickups are in the Les Paul Studio. They should have put in Burstbuckers for the SG Standard.

  • i wasted 1 year of my life playing a fender strat. i sold it for a gibson sg std and got addicted. i keep her safe in the case if i dont play and if i open the case my dick gets hard as a rock all over again. i love gibson and i always will <3

  • If i'm gonna buy a gibson SG or Les Paul?

  • @FreakGuitar14 les paul because a les paul can do what an sg can do but an sg cant do what a les paul can do, im not saying that the sg stinks because i love the sg, but i think that the les paul is a better all around guitar, but try outa lot of both and see which is a better fit for you, and congratulations on buying a gibson!

  • @RedTV8888 what do you mean sg cant do what a les paul can do? the only difference is that a les paul is much heavier and more cumbersome when playing than an sg.

  • @tommyparadiso1122351 i just mean that a les paul has a lost more diversity when it comes to tone. for example, you can make a les paul sound just like an sg with its stripped down, balls ac dc sound, but its harder to get a les paul sound out of an sg. i don't mean to put down the sg because its one of my favorite types of guitars, but if this guy is gonna get what i'm guessing is his first gibson, i just think that the les paul would be the better choice. i apologize if i offended you.

  • @tommyparadiso1122351 well one of the reasons the Les Paul was reissued in 68 was because many guitarists realized the sound potential and power that the les paul body has versus the sg was a fatter sound with more midrange and power/sustain while the sg still has amazing tone but is more on the brighter side and is more on the treble side. both are great for all types of music, but if you want more power and chord depth with a darker/warmer feel, the les paul is the way to go. there IS a diff.

  • @FreakGuitar14 to be honest - just get an SG. it's cheaper, looks just as cool and your probably not really gonna notice the difference tone wise unless you get really picky and anal about it

  • Your opinion.

  • @ErosaScuderia true. everyones entitled to an opinion and if we couldnt voice them we wouldnt say anything about it at all.

  • this is a sexy guitar

  • to sborr patatine!!!

  • Think SG, think Angus Young...!!! :)

  • @qadrianybayyinah NO THINK TONY IOMMI :)

  • the les paul never flopped rusher38 learn your history

  • @okmer333 yes it did

  • i prefer sg's to modern les paul's

  • 0:26

Introduced when the Les Paul flopped!

Kind of ironic if you think about it.

  • it looks so....Godish....

  • I like it with the small pickgaurd a little better, but still cool

  • you know the gibson sg is a really legendary guitar but i just wished that everybody in youtube didn't distorted the crap out of it in the demos.

  • it was this Lester paul didnt want when he was making the les paul.

  • Angus Young or Tony Iommi.

  • @godzilla964 Both great but Iommi for me. :D

  • its sounds the same like the studio lp cause it has the same pickups

  • @Max45090 not really, my friends got a studio and i got sg standard and boy are they different, substantially less wood on the sg and the lack of a maple top, they are very different

  • Cool people watch in 240p

  • @doomerang1995 what does 240p means?

  • PUNCH

  • beefy as fuck!!

  • Ho yuss, the SG. Iconic.

  • 0:08 - 0:36 is the best moment. Tell me please, where can I find tab to this fragment. I try play this song but i can't. Maybe can you give me name of this song? I believe that you help me :))))))

  • @nolivegamer You can sit and try work it out for yourself.

The man riff bit doesnt sound hard, just a cliche heavy metal pedal tone E (or lower if the guitar is downtuned, might be D) pentatonic riff with some pinch harmonics thrown in. Try doing pull offs on the lowest string to the rhythm of the riff using notes of the Minor Pentatonic Blues with a little bit of natural minor i think.

  • can someone tell me if the first thing this dude plays is just improvisation or an actual song?

  • @toby099 I have no idea what it is, but it's fun as hell to play.

  • Anyone who asks I love the Gibson SG I just hate the signature models that the Jonas brothers have.

  • This one or Gibson les paul studio?

  • @ThePanteraTribute

    Angus Young or Slash? :D

  • @fakematteo Angus Young doesn't play a standard, slash doesn't play a studio :D

  • @ThePanteraTribute

lol you're right. Angus plays an SG and Slash a Les Paul. That is what I meant. (sorry for english errors.)

  • dear santa...........

  • thumb up if your to poor to buy one and have to settle for replicas

  • guitar porn... porn for us guitar players :)

  • thumbs up if you're thinkin of Black Sabba when you hear the intro

  • this guitar belongs on redtube, not youtube . . .

  • i think the song at the start is by black sabbath sorry dont know name of the song

  • hey. i have a gibson sg standard and i just want to say, if you dont have one go and get one now!!!!!!!!!!!! i have also a les paul and the sg is the fucking best!!!!

  • The SG is just so modern, I love it. It's like the Les Paul's revisit (literally). I love the deeper, thicker sound that you get out of that 498T combined with the solid mahogany body. The SG is just one great guitar, and a classic. Good job Gibson!

  • whats the riff or song hes playing in the beginning?

  • I want one!

  • What's the song he playing?

  • Is Standard lighter than Special?

Does anybody here know the weight difference?

    Thanks.

  • I truly think that besides the really good guitar that gibson made,

almost any guitar could sound good with those licks.

  • i just look forward to the day im gonna be a guitarist that i will be worth a real gibson SG!!!!

  • @gtamodman122 I will be taking lessons soon!

  • A very lite guitar and to me feels and sounds better than a les Paul also SG s are better price

  • this sounds prtty good. can anyone tab it out?

  • EHXGUY can burn for calling the SG a shitty guitar

  • I had an SG once. But it wasn't from Gibson, it was from Epiphone.

  • kron294 you tube

  • Anyone know how to play the riff at 1:06? It's so awesome!!

  • This guitar give me an orgasm

  • The tone in the very beginning smoked so much, I can barely see anything at all....

  • how can a guitar be so comfortable,so well-sounding,so famous,so light,so....perfect?

  • I have an SG bass!

  • I'm thinking of Nick Jonas. No just joking

I'm thinking of ACDC. Fuck the Jonas Brothers, and there SG (Shitty Guitars)

  • @EHXGUY did you just call the sg a shitty guitar?

  • @gtamodman122 he just ment the faggot jb's

when those faggots touch every type of guitar

    it turns into shit

not every guitar in the world

just that specific guitar they touched

  • @c4662 justin bieber TOUCHED A GIBSON SG?HES FUCKING DEAD!

  • @EHXGUY It looks like you don't own an SG and want one very much! It's ok, you can insult the guitar because you don't own one. It won't change anything :)

  • this guitar good for laud rock?

  • @SuperDsffdsf no shitxD

  • kron294 you tube

  • thumbs up if you're thinkin of ACDC

  • @shazi95 I'm thinkin Black Sabbath.

  • @godzilla964 I'm thinking Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Frank Zappa, Robby Krieger, Pete Townshend, Derek Trucks and Jerry Garcia.

  • WHAT IS THE SONG AT 1:56 ? please help i really need this song!

  • @mastercross1 I think its "I love rock n roll" by joan jett and the blackhearts ;)

  • who wants a guitar called the sg STANDARD? it sounds so boring

  • how u play that riff at 0:10?

  • @marineman825 figure it out with your ear

  • @grahamm13 how you fag

  • @marineman825 woah woah woah im not tryin to piss anyone off just listen to it find the notes on ur git and play it simple

  • you tube kron294

  • i wish there was someway to listen to the music from 1:08 without the voice over

  • Its a sad little thing. I used to think this was a Black Sabbath and AcDc guitar. And now its used by the jonas brothers.

  • @rukulathegamer ...No...Way... Angus should blow them away with his SG...and black sabbath the rest

  • I wish people would get it out of their ridiculous heads that SG's aren't just for playing heavy metal and AC/DC.. Look who used them in the 60's, George Harrison, Clapton, Mick Taylor, Robby Kreiger, Pete Townshend, Hendrix and many more..

This guitar's reputation has been ruined by the likes of Angus Young..

  • @spyonthesoftparade I would actually have to agree with you. I mean, also, Derek Trucks also uses an SG, and he plays blues. Most won't take the time to appreciate the guitar's versatility.

  • @spyonthesoftparade I wouldn't say ruined, but sure as hell changed forever

  • Thumbs up if you own an SG and think it ROCKS!

  • @dan270145139 I'm buying one next week. Does that count?

  • @Glockenator LOL if ur buying one for sure, then yes :D

  • @dan270145139 Well, yeah I'm buying for sure. I put 500 bucks down on it, and I'm paying the other 700 on Wednesday

  • @dan270145139 i own an epiphone but oh well

  • @dan270145139 whel i own an epiphone sg but as the difference( imo ) doesnt realy matter and gibson owns epiphone (so its practicly the same market) ill give thumbs up!:D

  • @dan270145139 Also if you WILL have a SG and you KNOW that it ROCKS?

  • @dan270145139 Not quite yet lol, need to save up, gunna get one in the future, and probably in ebony rather than heritage red..

  • What's with the color change? Why can you only get the classic herritage cherry look on the cheaper SG Special but on the SG Standard the finish is just cheesy looking.

  • At least this one's priced properly.

  • what amp is that guy using? would it be a Marshall?

  • why dont they ever play solos on these videos

  • i would pay lots of money just to have sex with this guitar.

  • PLEASE help me get the tone at 1:31 PLEASE

  • @PaulBeladino Sounds to be a typical Black Sabbath-esque Good starting point for that kind of tone is like this: Guitar - Solidbody Pickup - Bridge; Humbucker Gain - 6-7 Volume - 9 Bass - 8 Midrange - 5 Treble - 8 and a bare touch of reverb, if your ampifier has it. Also, use a pretty gnarly pick attack.
  • santana at woodstock used that bad ass guitar

  • the song in the beginning is realy great

  • @RobinHuubPro what is the song in the beggining?

  • HEY

does SG and Les Paul sounds similar?

  • @ohyeah061696 No they don't. Well, you can get the Gibson feel with both of them but they are absolutly different.

  • @ohyeah061696 yes but the sg is more twangy and heavier. in my opinion the les paul has a nicer sound to it. from amazing cleans to brilliant rock sounds

  • nice way to end it at 1:58

  • I can't decide if i should buy the gibson sg standard or the 61 reissue.

so what do you think is better^^

  • @guitarbraver I'd personally get the standard. Whatever floats your boat though.

  • @guitarbraver If you want to play all styles of music rock metal jazz classical, the work horse is the standard thats what im saving up to get becuse i want a guitar that does it all. Most people like the standard better. my friend has one it handles classical well then full out shredding. theres lots of forums on the subject. hope this helps!

  • @eatthemoon13 Thank you for your help!

now i'm sure that i'm going to buy the standard :)

  • i got a sg special because i couldnt afford a les paul and i must say the sg fits me better than a les paul becuz the les pauls too heavy and has not much acess to the upper frets. :)

  • Sg= Satan's guitar with its devilish good looks

  • dude how do i get the tone @ 1:34

  • Siiiiiiickkkkkkk intro tone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're all illiterate.

  • @AJH0014

Oh... I see. Well some people don't like buying knockoffs because it makes them feel cheap, and some are lazy people with money.

  • @AJH0014

There's something called Epiphone's and Squiers. Which are about $600 at Guitar Centers

  • to all the guy here who posses an SG , i said" lucky you are"!! ..maybe , one day, i'll be a sg owner's too......to be continued !!!

  • of course, angus is not the inventor of the sg guitar !! lol..in this case, he could be very rich...but i prefer him on stage, than behin a desk !!!

  • whats the name of the song?

  • @AJH0014 Waiting to i get my sg standard. But one in my family have ebony sg standard and a sg angus young signature. Both orgasmic guitars.

  • @AJH0014 Iv'e been playing for 5 - 6 years. And im 14

  • @AJH0014 Yay!, lets all go out and buy cheap guitars that get out of tune in 2 min. Or pay a little more and have a guitar rest of our lifes.

  • i have the same guitar. its great

  • Even Before Sabbath And AC/DC guitarists like, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Pete Townshend played the SG.

  • I still rememebr seeing it first time on Woodstock used The Who and lately AcDc.

  • @AJH0014 oh, and when i say "better" tokai's . . . i mean the collectors items that purists drool for . . . not just a random Tokai. I thought i would elaborate before u tried to refute me with a late model Tokai or a beat-up illy-stored Love Rock.

  • @AJH0014 sorry to burst your bubble but one of the better tokai's are pretty much the same price and i've played my SG hard, as have friends of mine almost trashed theirs and we've never seen a break or a stress fracture. I am sorry that that has been your experience though. Mahogany, though on the soft side, has great resonance -- nothing stupid about using mahogany, friend. Take care and keep playing, man.

  • @AJH0014 You suck. Gibson rules.

  • Put a better bridge pickup in it

  • This new layout sucks.......

  • Oh and yes, a beautiful guitar.

I played a Gibson Les Paul today.... and i really done like the feel of the guitar.

I love my strat and Telecaster.....

I know its another guitar, but i do love the Sg's

  • qual musica e essa ai a primeira ?????

  • i got one about 2 years ago and i'm kinda thinking of getting the slash les paul goldtop .

should i stick with this or get the goldtop

  • Get the Goldtop bro..trust me you'll be very happy!

  • @paulorules if you like heavy guitar i would take the goldtop, but if you dont take the SG, both are great...but you decide

  • @paulorules

The goldtop will have a lil bit more 'tonal range' ..and of course...more sustain.

If you play alot of lead...the SG is still better (and naturally a litte more defined and sharp tone)

I Have a nica SG custom....best sounding guitar I have played overall. But I play my WASHBURN IDOL more..the gibsons are just a lil heavy and have fat necks so you cant play them as fast.

    :-(

  • im SOOOOOOOOOOO glad i bought mine

    go sg!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, I really like the sound and looks of SG, but my hands are a bit too small for gibson neck (including the 60s slim taper)... Could anyone indicate some other SG-style guitar of similar quality for playing ac/dc, metallica, megadeth, black sabbath? cheers!

  • there is a make called indie who do some real good guitar good as gibson not better lol had one myself i had the shredder thats good but urrm yeah theyre british though so if your american i dunno lol

  • ltd's are really good for rock and metal, but i don't know if that fts with your hands

  • Get a Fender Strat. The pickups on a Strat are nice and hot but if you hate the annoying hum then get some Lace Sensors because they're just the same but withouth the hum. The neck on a Fender is nice and thin and you can play really fast on one. Usually people who don't like Gibson necks like the way that Fender feels. Just go to GuitarCenter and try some guitars out until you find one that you like. Also if you want a guitar with an SG body, try a Yamaha SG.

  • hi guys iwonder if you could give me some help im looking to buy an sg and wondering which one was better a standard or special x

  • ESP Viper series the neck are nice and thin but comfortable and it's made strong!

  • Can someone please tell me what riff that is, or how to play that riff? Thanks

  • the cherry sg really has become one of the greatest guitar icons

  • @RoCkErX285 les paul even more so, though.

  • lp's have a lot more bass and sustain..very heavy tho, pain in the ass playing while standing!!

sg's tend to be neck-heavy yet not all!mine is very well ballanced but played with others with issues!!

sg's are fairly priced lp's are not..that's the only sure thing!!if u have the xtra buck try the sg 61 reissue...awesome guitars and still cheeper than the lp..cheers

  • I'll get me an SG special faded- I don't have money kicking around for a standard haha.

  • @superlou1s ..i suggest u wait a little longer and save for the std or wait till u find one used!!thank me later :)

  • There's that much of a difference eh?

Well, I think I'll take that advice.

  • yup..that's what i did..nio regrets for waiting o few months extra!!!

  • shut up man the LP studio is the coolest on and the best you idiots :=)

  • @maxograsmus gay boy

  • @SuperJaykay93 If you are talking about a LP STUDIO and not a LP Standard I'd say the SG. If comparing the SG Stdrd and LP Stdrd I'd say it's a matter of taste and preferance - but the SG Stdrd is a bargain compared to the LP Stdrd. Only way to decide is to try both out - might be some ergonomic drawbacks to the SG - but it is awesome to play and you'll fall in love with the sound instantly ;) (oh yeah - I have a SG stdrd so I might be biased but I tested extensively before deciding)...

  • Don't be fooled by how amazing this guitar is sitting down and playing, I played a lot of guitars in the guitar stores years ago and nothing played as good as a SG Standard sitting down, standing up is a whole differant ballgame I prefer Explorers now due to better balance no more neck heavy problems for me Explorer is probably the most balanced Gibson ever made.
