  • I have windows 7 and every time I select and move a page/window it leaves behind an outline square/rectangle image of the window/page... can anyone help me with this?

  • @Documentification To remove the translucent selection rectangle, follow these steps:

    - From the start menu, right click on "Computer" and select "Properties".

    - In the new windows, select "Advanced System Settings" tab on the left.

    - Under "Performance", click "Settings".

    - From the new window in the "Visual Effects" tab, uncheck "Show windows contents while dragging" and "Show translucent Selection Rectangle".

Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions!

  • everytime i try to change my wallpaper from stretch to center does nothing and stays at stretch, getting very annoying.

  • Are you using an HP by any chance?

  • yes i am.

  • It's actual an HP bug and they have a fix called "wallpaper picture position enabler" available here:

    - Go to hp. com/#Support___sp

    - Choose the Download drivers and software button under Step 1

    - Under Step 2, enter your product name (e.g. pavilion 2022)

    - Click on the link matching your PC model

    - Choose your operating system

    - Scroll down the list "Select software and drivers" and you'll find it there.

Please let me know if you have any questions or issues. Thanks!

  • taking a second look at this video, i see that it was kinda tossed together. the trees and the people in the background don't move and you can tell the bench was laid over the video.

  • well what the hell do you expect? to be real? moron.

  • why not? it's not difficult to go to some campus somewhere and record this vid with a real bench and people. is it? moron.

  • how do you get that weather gadget? it looks so much better than the default on windows 7

  • Dont you think theyre exaggerated about customisation a little to much here.. lol

  • this video was shot on university of washington campus in front of the Husky Union Building. i can tell you for sure there's no trees, bench, or a road like that on campus, all those have been edited in.

  • Comment removed

  • It wasn't shot at UW, it was shot at a park.

  • i see. then they added the Husky Union Building in the park.

  • i just noticed thats the cursor for xp

  • Show :D

  • Cant wait till the 22nd of October i am sick of XP on my netbook and i imeddiatly didnt want Vista on it so been waiting for 7 so lets hope it is better

  • You'll love it. :)

I've been using the RC of Win 7 on a Sony Vaio P UMPC for a couple of months now, extremely happy with it. Will definitely be getting the final version on 22nd October.

  • dang shes cute

  • Why can't we Mac and PC users get along please. A Mac is a PC also, it's a personal computer. I own a MacBook and honestly I like both Mac OS X and Windows, they are unique in there own way. And come on people (Mac users) software isn't perfect, yes Mac OS X is way more stable than Windows but hey that's why they release updates to fix issues that the OS has. I respect and love both Mac OS X and Windows. Long live the world's best kickass OSes. *Whisper* Let's not forget Linux (Ubuntu). :P

  • Totally agreed, well said.

I do really detest mindless immature fanboys. I also use Windows, Macs and Linux PCs. :)

  • Once VMware Fusion 3 comes out, we can run Mac, Windows, and Linux with Aero and Compiz all at once :D

  • whatever, you apple fanboys are so annoying, you just can't loose can you?, well have fun going into every single windows videos and bashing microsoft's new operating system, that's sad, get a life

  • right! funny, why are apple suppoters supposed to be jealous?

  • -4 and lower downvoting ftw.

I don't know what people would disagree with. Saying "Windows 7 uses EXEs so therefore it's the same OS as Vista and XP" (which was argued) is foolish.

Explorer.exe is simple the launcher/taskbar/file management frontend, and I don't know why you'd argue the removal of that, either.

  • a *.dmg is more like an *.rar... it's not executable, the application can be run from it when the OS mounts it, it doesn't place the files itself, but rather, the OS does.

The way *nix systems handle things like installation is completely different from Windows. All applications stored settings somewhere, only Windows does it in a large database stored, also, with operating system values.

OS X has had trojan horses (which aren't viruses). Malware installed by a user would need to be removed.

  • Trojan horses ARE viruses... they are programs disguised as another program, but they have MALICIOUS INTENT (malware)

    malware = virus

OS X has some true viruses as well, but so many people use Winows that not many hackers/programmers see the need to make Mac viruses. Same goes for Linux.

Oh, and btw... UBUNTU FOR THE WIN!!

    *runs away*

  • Trojans are not self replicating, and are not viruses.

Malware != virus. Spyware is malware, Trojan Horses are malware. Adware is malware. None of those are technically viruses. Viruses can copy themselves and infect other computers without permission or knowledge of the users. Trojans by definition need permission (a Trojan Horse is hidden, usually, in another piece of software).

Also, yes, Ubuntu (and linux) ftw.

  • It really depends on the type of trojan. There are kinds that turn computers into adware "servers" and send adware to other computers, thus replicating itself.

There's also the kind that hides viruses within itself. Say you download a video editing program and run it. at first it seems okay, then suddenly your hard drive has a worm and your hard drive is toast.

There are also trojans that install spyware on your computer.

IMO, trojans are definitely viruses, just of a different variety.

  • another ignorant apple fanboy commenting on windows videos, wtf!

  • There's a difference between being a fanboy and being a Windows user and software developer who has to correct ignorant Windows users so we don't all fit the stereotype the other side puts forth.

  • kid? hahahah I think you may be the kid here, and hey I know it is OS X, OS x snow leopard, also gets viruses, do some research, or do I have to remind you that apple incorporated malware remover into their operating system? hahahah... what the hell are you talking about? get your facts straight before you even comment, "kid"

  • You should be embarrassed, what kind of "high school" comeback was that?

  • What an awesome video. Why aren't they using these on tv?

  • I hope this gets aired on TV

  • What kind of netbook was that, a Dell?

  • that's a dell mini.. 9inch i suspect..

  • It is a dell mini 9.

  • But wait. That wallpaper was Seven Starter's on that netbook.

You can't change the wallpaper in Starter, I thought.

  • How do you know it was the Seven Starter?

    You don't.

  • The wallpaper at 0:24.

  • That picture you can get on all versions of Windows 7.

It may be Windows 7 Home Premium. You honestly don't know

  • Win7 Starter doesn't support Aero interface! HEr Dell mini 9 taskbar was Aero , although one other Ad had used wrong theme where windows were classic and taskbar was shown with aero, dunno why they make such mistakes..

  • You can still install home premium if you wanted.

  • Probably not a mistake. If you were selling luxury cars, would you advertise your volkswagons or your porches?

  • I still don't know any luxury car salesman who would sell porches, let alone any home improvement solution. They sell cars.

  • Windows's yet another desparate attempt to find the right balance between Mac and Linux.

  • :) I like it :)

  • So do I

  • lol, this one is great!

  • she is sooo pretty....

  • GREAT ADD

  • The eye candy in Windows 7 is actually part of the functionality, rather than Vista where it was simply eye candy. Windows 7 runs just as well as XP with the eye candy on.

  • You are an Idiot thats not a game it´s a OS.

  • wowniceeee

  • same as the one leaked out few weeks ago isn't it ?

  • >personalize

    >windows

    you can only choose one.

  • >implying windows can't be personalized

apple and linux sure brainwashed you bro

  • windows cannot be personalized as it is proprietary software your computer is owned by microsoft if you have windows. changing your wallpaper and the color of the buttons does not mean you've customized your os. by the way, apple is even worse in this area than windows.

  • Not exactly, on vista and even xp, theres ways to mod the .dll files and completly change the look and feel of ur windows machine. Such as vista glazz, wich mods the files for you. Then jump onto deviant art and you can get a bunch of different themes, and then theres software like rainmetre. I can go on for minutes listing how much software there is for windows to be able to change the way it looks and feels.

  • *high five* that's what i'm talking about :)

  • I wish I could use a mouse like that.

  • Amazingly Hilarious
