  • How do you Oced your CPU? let me know with which program i need to Oc mine too ^^ i got the same CPU :)

  • dolphin is NATIVE linux you know! no wine needed!

  • @nieknooijens look at this date when this was posted

  • Or you could just download the .deb without losing any performance :o

    Oh well

  • Once the CFW PS3 Linux gets the RSX drivers, this might run on PS3, with the rsx and the cell broadband cpu... Im guessing it will run pretty smooth

  • @OCSmoke8 The PS3 lacks RAM. The BootOS project needs a little bit more access so we can map things like vram.

  • open GL > direct x 10/11

  • how do you install it i'm running into probulms?

  • WINE fucking sucks. You should show LINUX gaming not Windows emulation.

  • @67576856666478964567

Apparently the emulator can be built from source for linux, problem is that complie is a scary word for most people, and WINE is easy to use.

  • no i would rather get the actual came 4 my gamecube than have it slow like that

  • @Jacobnelz44

Look at v=A8I6Jrlhu_Y It's perfectly smooth, and at a higher resolution than you can get with the game cube. You just need a newer processor and graphics card.

  • @WorBlux

    Correction look at v=el3LZ4xDNP8

  • whats your recording software

  • an emulator running an emulator running a game, now HOW COOL IS THAT?

  • @omghom lol wine is not an emulator.

    w.i.n.e.

    :P

  • @passionfearmisery running software that is "un-native" to its operating system is called an emulation, whether you like it or not. but still, wine stands for that xD

  • @passionfearmisery yeha dude. wine win(dows) e(mulator) its basically what it stands for lol

  • @lordlorenzo

    Wine Is Not an Emulator

  • @RombusEvilBones

More of a translator, but it's an awfully technical differentiation.

  • @WorBlux

    I mean that WINE means W(ine) I(s) N(ot) (an) E(mulator)

  • @RombusEvilBones

I should have seen that... damn GNU people and their recursive fetishists ways.

  • you have a worse computer than me and its running faster in linux for you... time to go download linux. could i use ubuntu 9.10 with wine to do this?

  • @blameitontenoob you don't need to use wine. to sun dolphin

  • dont need wine to use dolphin theres a linux port

  • can you make on on a mac

  • can this be done on a ps3

  • you can compile with linux and mac

  • Is it possible to do this in

    YellowDog Linux (YDL)?

I am currently in the process of installing

YDL on my 60GB PS3, and I was wondering

if I could do this on my PS3 with YDL.

(Also, where can I download a Linux Build of Dolphin? I can't seem to find one anywhere.)

  • @MegaMan7045 hmm i think you can.... but im not sure. Try googling ps3 linux emulation

  • The PS3 doesn't support hardware acceleration inside linux due to restrictions by Sony. Therefore, I doubt this would run on your PS3 =/

  • Emulator working on emulator... LOL. Seems to be working pretty good though. Even if that PC is a bit out-dated.

Well I prefer windows for this unless I can get my hands on some actual linux builds. I use both OS'es by the way. Linux is usually faster but wine takes it's portion of the cpu time too.

I would like to see some 4 thread build too as I have 4 cores. Would give some more speed. I don't know how the emulator works but if possible, it would be nice.

  • WINE Is Not An Emulator.

  • Well then what is it?

I always thought that WINE stands for Windows Emulator...

Do read WineHQ myths and wiki about emulators. Wine doesn't do any CPU emulation but it does emulate the interface and DirectX via OpenGL.

So it is an emulator but next time use ":D" or "hahaha" after that frace and everybody understand. Now make me understand that you did understand that already. :\

  • My above comment was from the website lol. I was merely quoting it :D

It's basically a layer that supports running windows executables. It doesn't emulate the system entirely. hahaha

  • ur right

  • @Nigo40

um ,,WINE Is Not An Emulator'' is QUETOTATION from this ,,application"

  • Yep. I know that already. Although not at the time I sent that last comment.

    ...

    Just to be fun-free...

I still see it as an emulator though. Even if it isn't fully an emulator as we have learned to know the word "emulator". I see the word "emulator" as a program that allows programs made for other os'es to run on the same os as the emulator.

But yeah. I agree that it's technically quite different than most ot the emulators.

  • From what i've heard, Wine developer's created this name as "Wine is not an emulator" because as you said, it's not emulating another cpu, it's just x86 (or amd64) software running in a x86/amd64 cpu..

yes, it "translates" direct3D calls into opengl calls, but i don't think you can call the whole thing an emulator. :P

  • Depends from the point of view. But internally, not really.

  • "Wine Is Not an Emulator" is an inside joke poking fun at recursive acronyms, and at the distinction between emulation & simulation. It use to be that emulation only referred to hardware emulation, while simulation referred to software emulation. Recursive acronyms use to be very popular in the hacker culture. GNU (as in GNU/Linux) actually stands for, "Gnu is Not Unix." That is where the name originated.

  • best answer (y) ;D

  • Plus his videocard is garbage which would explain why its so slow, it's fluid over here

    4870 ftw

  • In Linux? With a ATI card?

  • AMD and ATi FTW to bad Linux support Intel and nVidia

  • As far as I know, Intel and nvidia have AMD and ATi beat in terms of processing power.

    And linux supports AMD fine...

  • @DaweyYT It's more likely than you think.

  • @DaweyYT Actually, it's been a while since ATI provides good proprietary drivers for Linux (you gotta at least have a newer card) .. I've got a 4870 too, works great.

  • @kgonepostl ya kidding? I'd kill for a performance like that on my machine

  • @kgonepostl It's not running too bad, sure it's not great but its far from garbage

  • @kgonepostl its because hes recording it slows down the cpu

  • @ileenramos70

Doesn't slow down at all when I record.

  • @kgonepostl ATI is garbage, Nvdia 8800 GTS FTW!!!

  • @VaygrX: lol. You're seriously bragging about a card that I had 5 years ago?

  • @gregnicenh You arte the guy who wrote that comment? lol

  • woah im impressed i thuaght ubuntu cudnt run direct 3d is that what ur description is saying? im shocked! I didnt even knw a decent GC emu existed. Awesome. I have a 128mb card i doubt it'd be good for this but still awesome. :O

  • Hell nah

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • hMM, PRETTY HARDWARE-REQUIRING SPECS AND SOFTWARE SETUP U HAVE THERE, DUDE :)

AS IF I WILL GET TIME, I WILL DO IT AND TEST LINUX PERFORMANCE ON CUSTOM ENVIRONOMENTS WITH HIGHLY SPLITTED SYSTEM RESOURCES.

    tHE TITLE WILL BE:

"Linux Gaming: Dolphin (Gamecube Emulator) (with WINE) on VirtualBox emulated Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala from Windows XP Pro SP3 Base OS"

I guess it will be the craziest combo you all will ever have chance to see in action :P

  • runs great :)

    5/5

  • lol, ubuntu looks awesome if u boost the visuals to max m8, looks way better then win7 / vista

  • @mtothem93 yer... if your a 7 year old who would rather flappy windows and cheasy fire effects and flying planes that pop up everywear, "look mummy i can write my name on the desktop, amazing!! inovative!"., you would rather that than elegant pro looking smooth sleek glass effects.... then i guess it looks linux looks better ;)

  • does it because im getting one next week just for that reali lool but its ok you can play like mame games gba n snes

  • get a ps3 run linux done :d

  • get a pc every 1 better to play pc games on vista, xp but if you like linux get the wine program so you can convert pc games to play on linux ect...gears of war

  • 0o0h ye ur pc shit look how laggy it is

  • I love you.

  • Does Dolphin work better on Windows or Linux? I don't mean Linux with wine, but compiled

  • Is WINE Legal?

  • Yes, it uses 100% non-Microsoft code.

  • hey i donwloaded resident evil 4 in like 5 parts what do i do with them they a rar files and i tried opening them with dolphin tried extracting although dont think i did it properly so what do i do with the 5 parts???

  • Sorry, can't help you, or to be more precise, I won't help you, because that is warez.

  • you highlight all 5 right click and extract and it will combined into a iso

  • muskyjamjam, please don't help anyone with warez in my Youtube comments. : )

  • shut the fuck up if hes asking for help and your not helpping him on ur own video :s then obvauasly i have the right to help some1 fukin prick

  • I love you.

  • :s u best b a girl if u sed i love you l0ol

  • I'm a guy. BUT IT'S NOTHING WRONG WITH LOVING INTERNET TROLLS!

  • :s lool ok

  • @DaweyYT, my experience with the native Linux version of Dolphin has been pretty positive. I can play TimeSplitters 2 at vsync without issues.. out of curiosity, I tested it under wine, and I do suffer a framerate drop, although it is minute (-5fps)... also, my sound is a bit choppy under wine, but I think that has to do with wine disliking alsa. If I used arts or esd, maybe pulseaudio, then I probably wouldn't hear pops & clicks.

  • Okay, gonna try out the native Linux version when I have time, to compare.

  • The native linux version of dolphin runs perfectly smooth for me at 40-60 fps, but then always segfaults about 5 minutes into playing :(

  • Windows Suck !

    Life Ubuntu !

Ps: man , your pc is so powerfull !

you run this in Wine !

Emule an emulator for playing a game !

    Fuck So nice ...

  • @hitachi088: Wine Is Not an Emulator. It's a compatibility layer, it's pretty much just like he's running it natively.

  • Do you use your keyboard for controls?

  • No, I use a Playstation 2 controller plugged in to an cheap PS2 -> USB adapter (costs about 10$).

  • do this work good because im trying to find a controller that fit on ubuntu

  • " DaweyYT (5 days ago)

RecordMyDesktop is very CPU heavy, and so is Dolphin... "

    "10 times"

Does Gamecube games run at 300-800 fps in Windows? ;P

    "Install"

    I will not install Vista.

  • Actually 300-800 fps in a game is BAD. So even in that way Linux is better

  • how come u say 300-800 is bad? lol, everything above 60fps is faster then ur eye can catch up, so 60+ is imba for gaming

  • That's what I am saying. Too high fps makes the game unplayable, coz it goes too fast. Hence the need for a FPS Limit option.

  • Oh, this as well. Hehe. Frame tearing is also a pain on your eyes >.>

  • Because until recently, all LCD panels in monitors are 60hz (or 59 - I can't recall if 60 is the true value or a convetional rounding) (It was only a few weeks ago that Samsung finally bought a 100hz panel to the PC monitor sector).

With the character limit I can't explain it fully, but basically your monitor can only show 60 FPS if you panel is running at 60hz. Any less than 60 FPS from the GPU, then you simply get a low FPS. Any more, and you get frame tearing. Char lmt - google frame tearing

  • @schnappy00 That's why a lot of games enable an option for your FPS to be locked at or below the screen refresh rate

  • you can run x1 speed and still get 300-800fps u know :P

  • If you play pacman with a quadcore and sli or if you play a modern game with a supercomputer.

  • i have this game on my gamecube

  • where to find games for dolphin i look at them but i can't find them...please answer...

  • SLOW MOTION MARIOKART... awesome

  • RecordMyDesktop is very CPU heavy, and so is Dolphin...

  • It has really come a long way, most games didn't even get in-game up until not too long ago...I have a Gamecube but it would be really nice if emulation got as good as PS2 emulation is now so you can play the games at much higher resolutions.

  • Hola Me Andaria Con Esta Pc : Pentin 4 3,20 ghz 768 De Ram Y 128 De Placa De Video???

  • It will probably run really slow!

Auto translated: ¡Funcionará probablemente realmente lento!

  • ¿Qué mierda es Pentin? Pelmazo.

  • very slow speeds on this gameplay I have to say...

  • Three things:

    1. I'm screencasting

    2. Dolphin is far from perfect

    3. I use the x86 version

Without the screencasting program active it runs much better, but still, far from perfect.

  • Which revision are you running?

  • 992 x86

  • hmmm, go update to r1005

  • Is it a big difference between them? As I said before:

    "Three things:

    1. I'm screencasting

    2. Dolphin is far from perfect

    3. I use the x86 version

Without the screencasting program active it runs much better, but still, far from perfect. "

  • what programs do i need to run dolphin and where can i download gamecube games?

  • i would like to know too =P

  • Read the above post =)

  • Ok, what do you mean by "what programs" to run dolphin and no I'm sorry but I cannot tell you where to get the games
