  • U DONT HAVE TO KNOW HOW OLD I AM...DID U EVER LOSE THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE AND FELL APART AFTER IT AND FOUND IT HARD TO RECOVER..AGE IS A MOOT POINT, LIKE YOUR BRAIN.....SHE DROVE ME NUTS, MORE THAN MY XWIFE OF 19 YRS..AND SOMETIMES THE EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS ARE REALLY HARD TO KILL..AND I KNOW ITS HOLDING ME BACK FROM MOVING ON, SO ITS A ONGOING PROCESS

  • LOVE

  • Another world's greatest hits that will live on as long as there is LOVE.

  • this song is a work of art. Just listen to the music not the lyrics.By far one of the best breakup songs also.

  • THIS SONG KILLS ME AND THE THOUGHT OF THE GAL I WAS GOING TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE WITH,KITTY KEARNEY OF LONG ISLAND..DAMN....IT DIDNT WORK OUT..DAMN....AND IM STILL DYING WITHOUT U..I CANT GET U OUT OF MY MIND, HEART AND CONSCIENCE..I HAVE TO..BUT AT LEAST WERE STILL FRIENDS, THATS OK, I GUESS...BUT NOT A CONSOLATION...

THANX FOR CHANGING MY LIFE, SHOWING ME WHAT IT WOULD TO BE IN LOVE AGAIN AND FOR JUST KICKING ME IN THE ASS AND STILL BEING MY FRIEND, THOUGH U ARE REATTACHED..love u ..

  • @rexrockandroll Hey kid....we dont wanna hear it...put it away.....be quiet

  • @iorioriorio FUCK U..U MUST BE GAY..OR FROM THE SOUTH OR A FOREIGN COUNTRY....WELL WHATEVER IT IS, FUCK UP....

  • @rexrockandroll for gods sake get over it how old are youi

  • classic duet.....great song too.

  • Sweet song....

  • Thanks for your comment. The other party usually never understands what has happened.

  • the most soulful white guy EVER !!!!! daryls' comin to minneapolis, i cant wait

  • It shouldn't be so, but end of relationship songs can often hurt even more than the break up itself. I know that to my experience as relationships have alwaays been fleeting to me. Perhaps I have loved too much, too intensely, but the hurt never seems to get less - even through the years. Songs like this pierce the heart so much; :(

  • @TheMicksterdee I fully appreciate what you are saying and the effect of sad love songs. However, I do not think one can love too much when one meets that special person. If you are fortunate to meet that person, be thankful and love as much as you can. If it does not work out, you would know that you gave your all, so pick yourself up and carry on again, but this time with a lesson having been learnt. As the saying goes, it is better to have loved and lost, than not to have loved at all.

  • @goddydee2 only the one who have lost know the lesson..

  • i remember my parents alarm clock going off when radio only had AM. AM gold and this song was on one morning. also rich girl. i also had a black and white tv till i was 9 or so i remember the general lee was orange .burnt in my mind.

  • Freshman year (1985) I saw these guys in concert with my best friend (her all time favorites). Three weeks later she was murdered. Yeah...this song hits me sometimes. Though it's about lost love, it still rings true in it's own way for me.

  • The words of this song are so true. Great song - and I also saw them back in the 80's.

  • A song that reminds us fellas of the precious relationship we had with that special lady. One cannot undo the past, but one can learn from a good lesson and ensure that the same mistake does not recur. Few experiences in life can be as painful as the hurt one feels when a special person slips from one's grasp, particularly if one has brought it upon oneself..... by something done or said, or perhaps not done or left unsaid. She must know that she is loved and appreciated. One must communicate.

  • @goddydee2 hope you don't be to tough on yourself, us girls ain't so good on the communication front either, we expect you guys to know what we're thinking and feeling just cos you love us, be good to yourself

  • @claresongstres I do welcome and appreciate your comment. I have had numerous relationships with fine women over the years, including having been married to a childhood sweetheart for a decade. (now divorced unfortunately) Yet, the fairer sex always seem able to teach me something new, or at least remind me of a forgetten lesson. Thanks again.

  • Gay picture.

  • One of the most underated singers of the years

  • @kmtp700 you are sooo right

  • Hall's gay?

  • @oliveirantunes ''no''

  • Saw them live at the Albert Hall back in the 80s. Loved every bit of it.

  • they're gay.

  • @djrolo77 nope

  • They sing it like a black band so it doesn't matter who's song it is. They sound damn good to me and always have.....

  • There will never be another Hall and Oates, they went out as winners..

  • Being funky and caucasian is easy, I do it all the time!

  • @yesfan951 You ain't funky

  • Truly R&B. Blue eyed SOUL.

  • I've heard both versions of this song (Tavares and Hall & Oats) and I like 'em both. Whether it's brown or blue eyed soul, SOUL is SOUL and it stands out.

  • This was one hell of a group back in their day. Always loved Hall & Oates :)

  • Amazing!

  • and Betty Davis eyes

  • Whitney Huston we will allways love you baby 4 ever and ever I dedicate this song.

  • Looks like me and and Irish groupie I knew...Circa 73...

  • Why does Daryl Hall have Farrah Fawcett's hair in that pic?

  • @moochercat Actually Farrah Fawcett had Daryl Hall's hair. :)

  • @summerstarsparks Bah! That's the Breck girl!

  • @summerstarsparks LMAO!!!! Thanks! I just spit soda on the computer screen!! Haha!

  • @summerstarsparks Daryl is much prettier than farrah...he has a nice ass

  • I had a radio when I was about 9 and this song was on the radio all summer..this and Beth by Kiss, good old days of rockn' roll and disco ...

  • thanks rey we needed to hear this......classic !

  • OMG! I always thought this song was by a black group. Surprise, surprise.

  • @rr7firefly I take offense to this : D

  • @rr7firefly wait, wth? lol!! white people have soul too!!! jeez ;)

  • No, I remember these boys singing this one, but Tavares sanfg a nasty version of it as well , Loved Both of them .

  • @rr7firefly Now that you mention it, I can see what you mean. Lol

I think the reason is because these white boys had much more rhythm and style than you'd expect from them. There's something in their music that you feel way down deep and makes you want to move.

  • @rr7firefly - the black groups copied them ;-)

  • @rr7firefly They got soul!! I thought the same thing!! lol

  • @rr7firefly same here

  • Thank you for uploading this! I haven't thought about this song in EONS!

  • Still the best song they ever recorded, along with "Time Won't Pass Me By" from Marigold Sky. This song has so much 70s Philly soul going on in it that it would make the Delfonics jealous, and I like the Delfonics!

  • Axsimulate, I can agree with.... LilMissAssLicka, I cannot, nowhere did I say do away with oil you ignorant douche. But do you really believe BP should have made BILLIONS in profit, even after they made the mess in the Gulf Of Mexico. NO, they should have not been able to sell ONE drop of oil gasoline, or any other petroleum product on out shores, until they cleaned their shit up, AND reimbursed all the folks who lost their asses because of it.

  • @ 71sleek, the Republicans, the oil industry, and Wall Street happened to this country.

  • @KayeWhye It's not the Republicans per se, it's the Evangelicals that took over the Republican party.

  • @KayeWhye know what would happen if the oil industry shut down? Every major world power would fall. No oil = no gas = no vehicles = no trade = no stimulation of economy (your favorite) = no government = no order = no safety. The oil industry is directly related to your survival. Fucking hippie.

  • Sounds like Philly.

  • @chrisradano It is Philly.

  • Darryl Hall COOOOL HAIR!

  • Remember this duo on Live Aid in 1985 on TV. Staying in a cosy pad in Porlock Weir when this was happening and really wishing I could get to London to see it all live.

  • From far away, I thought this was John Oates posing with his girlfriend LOL

  • @Jgeneraledger23

I first recall Hall & Oates from 1980, then I backtracked and dug up their earlier work.

I remember when I saw the cover of the "Silver Album". Yowtch! You think this is in-your-face? Were they trying to tell us something?

  • Great song in its day. Turned up the Craig Powerplay in the Sin Bin Van every time it played. But all you guys saying it's not the same any more, check out Mayer Hawthornes current hit 'The Walk'. There's still good music out there.

  • The clean shaven one proves that masculine men can be more pretty and effeminate than most women.

  • 33 now, and this is one of the best songs ever IMHO. I love the oldies nowadays, but I use to love pointless hip-hop in my twenties... How far I have come!!! Thank you Hall & Oates!

  • I enjoy this album cover because it's not at all gay.

  • i agree mspoprocks you just cant get this kind of music nowdays how i am so glad i grew up in this era

  • This will always remind me of the one that got away. Miss you Nicole.

  • Bromance.

  • yeah she is gone the straight girl, the homemaker, the women who showed compassion, who put the kids first...........and now society will feel the affects................ who raised all these prices and values hebs

  • DAMN..THIS KILLS ME..KITTY..I SHOULD HAVE NEVER LET WHAT I FEEL FOR U DO THIS TO ME..FUCK...I SHOULD HAVE DIED WHEN WE DIDNT HAVE A CHANCE....I DIDNT EVER THINK A GIRL COULD DO THIS TO ME EVER AGAIN...BUT THATS LIFE, LIFES A B..CH AND HAVE TO MOVE ON...I'LL ALWAYS LOVE U AND WANT U AND WOULD DIE TO MAKE U MINE....IM NEVER GIVING UP ON U KITTY...NEVER..X0X.

  • Thanks for posting. I have the original LP! It brings back some serious make-out memories!

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I am 15 and Hall and Oates are the best band I have ever listened too. They are so wonderful. I wish people respected them more and listened to them! <3

  • @MsPOPRocks69 People have been dumbed down over generations

not to appreciate good, soulful meaningful music like this...

  • @MrBirdman73 Heard it sucked

  • H2O

  • Ones Black n one's White? Oh!!!! Forgive me for being born in 1989, but I seriously thought these two dudes were White guys. :x Came to realization after seeing THIS image. :)

  • @KINSHASAA19sankru89 John Oates is mainly of Italian descent. His mother was Italian and his father's people came from Britian and Spain.

  • "Won't you introduce me to your pretty friend?"

    "Of course, this is Daryl."

    "..."

  • 3:08 to the end I have to sing that at the top of my lungs whenever I hear it in the car.

  • Why do they look like females? Well just the blond ...

  • Damn took me back to wi-fi 92 Philadelphia Pa. easier worry free days, what happened to this country?

  • @71sleek Too much of your generation not worrying about shit.

  • @800mpro Try it some time, then their might not be as many of your close minded wrapped tight,no it all, direspectful, self entitled, selfished generation causing things to have to worry about..........Tranqillo my man!!

  • @800mpro Ps sorry that's know it all not no, see u already have me starting to worry like u,,,,,,Take care!!

  • @71sleek Lol, I feel you man.But there's always something to improve.. to worry about.

  • @800mpro Just fuck off old man

  • Great, great song. Very painful album cover though. Still, just close your eyes and listen.

  • don't think men can get away with that look but hey theres always hope

  • Yeah really, this is a great song, but older people don't look to YouTube for their music as often as young people. If they did, this song would have 5 million views.

  • one of the coolest song our world ever had..

    .

  • graduated hs in 76 , joined the marines, lost the hs sweetheart. this song along with elvin bishop, rhiannon, and a few others haunted me for years. gotta love that puppy love,.

  • @istaph look at the bright side -- she'd be pretty darn old now...lol

  • i love all their album i would never get tired of them. love you Hall and Oates

  • I pay the devil to replace..wow what a lyric!!!

  • I think I've heard this instrumental on a porn before..

  • love this song!

  • I love me some Hall and Oates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hall and Oates...great music...

  • Makes you reflect on your life.

  • @Bournesax....That is a much younger Darryl Hall and John Oates on the right. Much longer hair too! You can do a search for "She's Gone" in video H&O are dressed in that retro look!! great vid though.

  • is that a guy on the left ? :d

  • @Bournesax LOL i thought the same but yeah its a guy its daryl hall

  • Besides the outstanding vocals the arrangement, guitars, and strings make this song steller!

  • This song would have more views if people who listened to it in the 70's weren't too old to look on YouTube for music...I'm so down for my age.

  • @jonnwins wow...really.

  • @jonnwins BWAHAHAHAHA!

  • @jonnwins hey! i graduated high school in 74 and i found it on here, wow........proud of my self.

  • @jonnwins I agree - I tried to get my mom to find her music from the 30 - 40's and instead of having "faith" that someone posted it. She would prefer to poo-poo the fact that it can be found...Like the old jukejoint blues she grew up with... And of course its there and then she finds something else to say (complain) that ain't all that positive...In the end I finds nothing else for her...

  • @jonnwins And ironically, the vast majority of YouTube users won't fully understand your comment because they don't know what it means to be "down"!

  • @schepler2 lol!

  • @jonnwins I don't agree. Most of these songs from the 70s and 80s are uploaded by people who grew up listening to them. Same with the playlists and websites devoted to this music, as are the pages and groups on FB, etc. As for views, look at H&O's Sara Smile, over 3 million and counting. Many of the 70s, 80s hits exceed 1 mil views.

  • @jonnwins I beg to differ. My mental faculties are well intact my dear friend. :D

  • @NIKONGUY1960 What I meant was that older people have not been raised on YouTube, so a majority of them do not immediately consider and use YouTube as a jukebox, like the majority of younger people do today. When great music like this gets less views than...well, so much average stuff from today. What other explanation could there be? Keep us young brother!

  • @jonnwins "too old" to have grown up on YouTube as a primary source of music/videos is what I meant. I think most people got that. Those of you who remember it and are truly down for your age, share it on your Facebook wall. Let's see if we can get this song the recognition is deserves. :)

  • Doesn't she look better going than she does coming?

  • I've never seen this picture lol

  • SHE GONEEE!!!

  • Talented and handsome boys . I love the way that they perform every songs

  • robert plant and jimy hendrix great both together my dream came true!!!!!

  • pretty song.

  • never pay the Devil any mind, much less to replace someone

  • is that for real? Or is someone doctoring these old songs? I meant his hair.

  • so fine!

  • 70's or whenever........these melodies are epic even today..

  • Now this is music. Music from the 70's is the best!

  • It's Abandoned Lunchonette... the best, Arif Marden producer... such a dream time of mine... :)

  • gave birth to the "power ballads" of the 80s...great one, thanks, Reynaldo!

  • I love this song!

  • Baba Booey

  • If you put Johns hair and tache on Daryls face he would be the image of Prince! : D

    Great tune!

  • @weeeeoooow This comment made me laugh then consider you are so right~

  • @weeeeoooow so true lol

  • I like this style of music. 70ies isnt it?

  • @AnimalsRightToDance Yes. It was released in 1974.
