  • damn so good

  • What's he saying in English?

  • If I was a girl I would be moist

  • @MintyJif I'm not even a girl and I am! Don't even know how but i am.

  • "belle, che fas?" is not italian. the correct lyrics are "bella, che fai?"

    source: i'm italian

  • Hey I just did a cover of this song and I would really appreciate you checking it out and letting me know what you think! Thank you so much!

    Anselm

  • What language is this song? It's like a mixture of French and portuguese..? Love this nevertheless.

  • the fuck?! how do 6 ppl not like this song.

  • i play cover this song also, really love theme and melodies

  • where is the german part???

  • @insuffizientebesserw He should re-do this with German, Polish, Russian, and Ukranian...I wonder what it would sound like...

  • @Dugger1997 im polish and im sure it would sound crap :P this one is the best i think hah.

  • nice rhythm

  • dammit i just realized im playing it wrong

  • why they laugh after "francais"...?

  • @verybuck

I think its because he's in Canada for this, and French is our second language. I have no idea though, I'm just guessing

  • @verybuck dude their canadians, they say all say abooot so what do you expect, all the ice hockey accidents cant be too good, dam canadians

  • @MrPocketGroover you must be an american, your trash talk is dry and has no thought behind it. you sound like josh koscheck on the ultimate fighter. also its "theyre canadian" even more proof of how moronic you are

  • @BrettMargison your an idiot and a grammar nazi. your probably french so you suck anyway. your like that guy from monty pithon. who makes a complete satire of the France. you sound like a stuck up bitch. America rules. Douch..

  • Comment removed

  • @MrPocketGroover That is some ignorant shit. Here is some more.... Go eat another hamburger, American. All those extra chins are looking good. Fatty.

  • @kaonator haha im not fat, lol im actualy more fit than a lot of people. so suck a fat one and i will go eat a hamburger, cuz its fuckng better than frog!

  • @cardplay2 I wasn't even talking to you. It says @MrPocketGroover. Learn to use the internet. And obviously hamburgers are better than frog. Thats like saying pizza is better than newt. Do you even think about what you're saying before you post? I would suggest it. It makes you look less stupid.

  • why they laugh after "francais"...?

  • @verybuck cause france is a good reason to laugh XD

  • at around 0:35-0:37 he messed up and said "oops."

  • dude, "Oi lienda" isnt portuguese, "bonita, bonita que tal?" is portuguese!

  • @diogolhh OMG Dude first its OI LINDA and bonita que tal is spanish wow go back to school

  • @yoshi92120 dude, im brazilian, and in brazil we speak PORTUGUESE. lol

  • then i say its a good pickup song hahah

  • a-do-ra-ble

  • estilo brasil!!! good...

  • jack clearly has kids and is married lmao

  • jack clearly wasnt born married. he played before his wife. maybe he sang it to his wife. dream with me okay.

  • jack clearly plays this song to pick up chicks internationally.

    A universal pick up song.

  • The more I listen to J.J., the more I think that he is a much better musician than his personna leads us to believe.

Some of those chords are pretty juicy...I've also heard him play piano and the drums...

The whole "...Ah shucks, I'm just a simple-beach-bum-surfer..." thing, I'm starting to think, is a bit of an act.

Don't get me wrong, I still think he's awesome. It's just an observation.

  • He doesn't act like he's a beach bum surfer it's just part of his hawaiian culture

  • I didn't mean to suggest that he is fake. I know that he is Hawaiian etc...

He studied film at University. He was almost a professional surfer/athelete. He is a very prolific music writer. Lastly, I think he is a much more competent musician than most probably realize. (Plus, he has got three kids!)

This level of accomplishment, is not typical of the usual "beach bum" sort...

My suspicion is that he is more hard working then his image might lead us to believe.

  • Ok I kind of misunderstood. But yeah he's hella chill

  • the complexity of his lyrics reveals alot of his intellect.

  • nice crowd! :)

  • the song should be longer...is such beatifull but so short.

  • bonite que tal means beautiful how are u doin...

  • bonite que tal is actually Spanish, isn't it! Ha!

It is bonita I suppose? Because you see a relatively few words in Spanish ending with e, a lot of them rather, ending with a or o.

  • It's bonita, because he's talking about a girl :)

  • This is bossa nova... so cool!

  • Oi lienda belle che fas? bonita, bonita que tal? but belle, je ne comprends pas francais So you'll have to speak to me some other way Hello beautiful (Portugese) Beautiful, what's happening? (Italian) Beautiful, beautiful what's up? (Spanish) Beautiful, I don't understand French. (French) So you'll have to speak to me some other way. This is the correct translation :D
  • Actually, "belle che fas" doesn't mean anything in italian! Maybe he wanted to say: "Bella, che fai?" = "Beautiful, what are you doing?" :)

  • @MrKingOf420 the correct spelling is "linda" not "lienda"

  • Comment removed

  • haa i love that reaction. i didnt know too many people spoke french in toronto? i thought mainly that was a quebec thing..

  • people laugh because the rest of canada traditionally doesn't like the whole French thing (not being a hater, just the truth). Especially in Toronto, it's near the border.

  • or maybe it's because he's saying he doesn't understand french in french

  • Oi linda

    Bella che fa?

    Bonita, bonita que tal?

    But belle

    Je ne comprend pas français

So youll have to speak to me

    Some other way

  • 1: Hello, beautiful. (portuguese)

2: Beautiful, what are you doing? (italian)

3: Beautiful, beautiful, how are you? (spanish)

4: I do not understand French (french)

5: So you'll have to speak to me (english)

6: In some other way. (english)

    I love this song!!

  • is it i do not understand french? or you do not? ive always wondered

  • "je" is french for "I"

  • I see, thank you

  • @EAJGG that's wrong lol the dude above u's right though

  • Nice, nice, nice, nice footage!

  • i love this song

  • i love how he sounds great live. hes not one of those wannabe stars that we have now, who change their voice when they cant really sing. Love Love LOVE Jack Johnson

  • Oi linda. (portuguese)

    Bella che fa? (italian)

Bonita, bonita que tal? (portuguese but "que tal can also be spanish)

But Belle, je ne comprend pas français. (french lol)

So youll have to speak to me some other day. (english)

  • all correct... but its not other day.. other WAY

  • wow, i dint know it was sung in five languages. what does the first four line means?

  • Hi pretty

    Beautiful what are you doing?

    Beauty, beauty whats up?

But beauty, I don't understand french.

    Its something like that

  • I want a belle too

  • oh that's so cute :D

  • will some one translate to me the lyrics?

  • Hello pretty, beautiful, how's it going?

    Beautiful, beautiful, what's up?

But Belle, I don't understand French,

so you'll have to speak to me some other way.

First line is Portuguese, second is Spanish, third is French.

  • ouh no wonder they were laughing, thanks you! :)

  • hahaha right after he said je na comprend francais the grin on his face was priceless

  • Such a great video this is!

  • oww me toooo

  • ha i thought it was funny how all the canadians started cheering when he said the line in french

  • OMG

    HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL.

  • wut a beautiful mann..:)

    I<3 this song.

  • Smoooooth, as if a girl could resist u if u played that to her.....

  • This would be classified at best as Bossa Nova, where most songs are from Brazil, and are in Portuguese..... I actually don't like most of his music a WHOLE lot, but this song does it for me everytime

  • isnt it beautiful!!

is that his original composition? or can you tell me a similar song thats longer which i could listen to :)

  • no you can´t find it because this is the original. like acoustic and really short but this is the one. =)

  • What is this genre of music called?

not jack johnson himself, but this partucluar song.

  • prolly jazz

  • bossa nova

  • if the rest of the song is in portugese why is he saying he cant speak french?

  • umm,

actually bonita que tal is portugues, n' it means pretty she is. n' lienda means nice.

    just letinn you knoe:D

  • ''bonita que tal'' is spanish, and means "menina bonita, como vai?" in portuguese, and when he say "lienda" maybe he is trying to say "linda" in portuguese,

  • Such a pretty song. :)

  • bella, che fa = beautiful, what are you doing

    italian

  • Oi lienda

    Bella che fa? < Italian

Bonita, bonita que tal? < Portuguese

    But belle

Je ne comprends pas francais < French

So you'll have to speak to me

    Some other way < English

  • Oi lienda < Portuguese

Bonita, bonita que tal? < Spanish

    ^^

  • oi lienda is not portugese

    bonita bonita que tal is.

    you have it mixed up

  • well actually, I'm a native spanish speaker... and "bonita, ¿qué tal?" means "beautiful, how are you?" in Spanish... Maybe in Portuguese it means the same thing (we all know how much these two languages look alike). I was just saying "oi lienda" looked more like Portuguese since brazilians say this "oi" all the time... ^^

  • well im a native portugese speaker and lienda isnt spelled with an e in portugese.

but bonita, que tal means the same thing in portugese. so it doesnt have to be spanish...

and i think lienda means beautiful in italian?

  • lol... so we both agree in one thing...

  • he wrote every line in a different language, because his wife is multi-lingual.

    Oi, linda (Portuguese)

    Bella, que fa (italian)

    Bonita, bonita que tal? (spanish)

But belle, je no compra, pas francais (french)

So you have have to speak to me some other way.

  • "Bella che fa" it's italian, not portuguese

    one of my favorites :)

  • J'adore cette chanson elle me fait penser au quartier des artistes à Montmartre :)

  • Oi, lienda,

    Bella che fa? <--Portuguese

    Bonita,

    Bonita, Qué tal? <--Spanish

    But, Belle,

Je ne comprends pas français <--French

So you'll have to speak to me

    Some other way. <--Duh

    love it. :)

  • ouais du françaiiiiiiiisss!!

  • I Think This song is so good!

  • love this vid and song cos even wen he makes the very slight mistake he completley takes it in his stride

  • This is great quality! Thanks for the capture.

  • "Oi, lienda,

    Bella che fa?

    Bonita,

    Bonita, Qué tal?

    But, Belle,

    Je ne comprends pas français

So you'll have to speak to me

    Some other way...."

  • You should say : ''je ne comprend pas LE français''

  • god bless america

  • I love this Song.

  • Sorry for spam, but i would also like to add one more thing: It was also a joke. He can't speak other languages. So he wrote it as joke to his wife. Its supposed to be funny :P

  • I'm gonna end this stupid Argument. THESE ARE THE FACTS. Its in more then 1 language... -_- Its first in Portuguese, then in French, Then italian, then Spanish, then English. It was written for his wife who can speak multiple languages.

  • Haha... almost correct... that is Portuguese, then Italian, then Spanish, then French and finally english. Still, your point is spot on. Great wee song eh?!

  • That's not portuguese, or it would have to be: "Oi, liNda" and not "Oi, liENda".

    ;-)

  • Je confirme il chante un peu en Français

  • The guy's Hawaiian man. And why don't stop being such a fucking critic i mean atleast jacks got balls enough to even attempt another language, lets see you try to speak tagalog without fucking up and me making fun of you.

  • exactly...i would NOT try, because that´s what i talkin about...he fucked up, he is a good musician, but this...

  • like i said man, its about the balls.....

  • Hey hey whoa man, i'm not american, i'm only part, i'm asian too, besides no need to get all racial right? I'm just saying that i like the song, and sure i could beat off to jack but i don't rub that way. I just hate it when guys like you come on to a page just to hate. Oh and the capital is Brasilia, right?

  • wow. i mean "americans" have their faults...we're all people. but nobody is perfect. and i am from new york, but im an individual. so don't group me as an american.

    WE'RE ONLY HUMAN.

  • and these song is a boring FAKE version of Bossa Nova...if you like the strings, go listen to the real ones...Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Morais, Zimbo Trio e por ai vai...

  • the song is in French! good observation skills! Dipshit!

  • Its in more then 1 language... -_- Its first in Portuguese, then in French, Then italian, then Spanish, then English. It was written for his wife who can speak multiple languages.

  • actually he speaks french as the 2nd last language! jeez

  • He really speaks french??

    So cool :)

(I speak french too but as my first language hehe)

  • Indeed he does! English is my second language french is my 1st! Je comprends francais tres bien! lol

  • he speaks hawaiien to right?

  • to be honest i really dont no! probably! lol

  • im sad. some1 msg me on msn. D

  • lol im naked! 7

  • No.

    Im brazilian. The right is:

Oi lienda (lienda is NOT a word in portuguese)

but it means ' beautiful ' also.

'bonita , bonita que tal '

    this part is portuguese.

    only that one.

  • someone should put a TUTORIAL for this song

  • He was definitely singing in Australian though

  • Australian isnt a language, dude. Its an accent. He was singing in french...lol

  • Jack Johnson is from the USA. He grew up in Hawaii.

  • He's the son of Jeff Johnson, famous Hawaiian surfer. He was born on Oahu, one of the Hawaiian Islands.

Unless Australia has declared that Hawaii belongs to them, I think you're smoking crack-cocaine.

  • lol.

  • can someonee say wat he is saying

  • Oi lienda belle che fas? bonita, bonita que tal? but belle, je ne comprends pas francais So you'll have to speak to me some other way Hello beautiful (Portugese) Beautiful, what's happening? (Italian) Beautiful, beautiful what's up? (Spanish) Beautiful, I don't understand French. (French) So you'll have to speak to me some other way. Et voila as they say... JJ is a Jenius (see what i did there...)
  • well genius is spelled with a 'G', not a 'J'

    genius

  • it's called a joke dumbass... Jack Johnson is a Jenius it's like, alliteration... seriously do you think im that stupid?...

  • He's so gorgeous!! Omg!! :o)

  • he says : je ne comprend pas le français.

    bandes d'ignorants XD

  • sweet riff n all buh sounds like summit youd hear waiting in a lift to go up a few flights lmao

  • Born in hawaii...and each line of the song is in different language of 'love' eg, french, italian, portuguese, and others.

  • ahhh that's sweet :)

  • MMMMMMM What a sexy song.. muchas gracias JJ por cantando.. He is amazing to watch and listen to. Much love to JJ much love...

  • - Oi linda (hi pretty) portuguese (or spanish, it's almost the same, but but it's usually used in portuguese)

    - Bella che fa (beautiful what's up) italian (it's a rather formal way of asking the question. It'd be better: "che fai")

    - bonita, bonita que tal? (beautiful, beautiful what's up) spanish (or portuguese.. the same as above.. it's an informal way of asking "how are you")

  • - but belle (...)

    - Je ne comprends pas francais (I don't understand french) french

    - So you'll have to speak to me (...)

    - Some other way

  • Bonita, sí, la vida. La vida de tu mano. Mirá esa guitarra, hasta te grita armoniosamente admirando tu belleza. Admirándote estoy.
