  • Soldner x 2 for the win!

  • cool game, is this the music for the game, its nice

  • u make this join look easy!! its freaking adictive!! i'v watched this vid over 7 times strait!!!!!!!! 5 stars!

  • thx ima go buy this game

  • are there save points... I've played thru the first 3 levels with no save point in sight. Starting to get old playing the first two levels over and over.

  • I haven't played Astro Tripper for a while, but yeah the lack of save points does make it difficult!

  • Thunderforce 6 is a superb SHMUP game on PS2. One of the best ive ever played. Rtype final was by no means bad but i agree that it felt very lifeless.

Soldner X is a great game. I think everyone should buy games like this Trine, Braid and some of the better PSN exclusives so we get better content in the future.

  • Anyway, thanks to your vid DJAA, i got my hands dirty with some Stardust.. and im loving it.

Sometimes you just have to make do !

I loaded a Daft Punk soundtrack onto it and it makes the game that much better :D

I checked the JPN Psn store for some shmups, but it seems like there is nothing. Dam Xbox has now got a ridiculous collection on Live and because its taken off so well, the shmup companies are producing more for them.

  • And trhe 99 ships was very addictive and each ship did have a different ability.

But i think the point here is that these are different type of SHMUPS.

Astro Tripper here for example is just shoot and destroy, where the games i mention have layers. But my point is that there are alot of good SHMUPS out there and PS3 owners seem to be missing out on them. These shoot and destroy games are OK but not half the fun and difficulty that Cave titles are for example.

  • "Meh, any real CAVE fan owns them already on Arcade motherboards... nice try though."

What a plonker and what a ridiculous thing to say.

"R-Type Final was meh... It was a mediocre generic lifeless excuses for SHMUP"

I agree that it didn't have classic SHMUP written all over it but it was a well thought out little game. Its actually quite enigmatic, since you obtain different or secret levels by playing in a different style or in a different style with a different ship.

    contd.

  • Love this game. Ive used ALLOT of time on this and super stardust HD. love theese kinda games. Thanks for the video.

  • Xbox gets the old Cave SHMUPs from arcade, what do we get !?

  • Is there anything to it other than shot and destroy ?

Any multiplier or chain systems ?

I hate these mediocre generic lifeless excuses for SHMUPs that PS3 have released so far.

Does anyone remember R-Type Final for PS2 ?

One of the best games i've ever played.

99 ships of different abilities to unlock with incredibly well thought out levels.

And to complete the final stage, you actually have to use some philosophy ! If you've played the game , you'll understand.

  • The game is shoot, destroy and if you are good you might get x8, x16, x32, x64 score multiplier. Myself and probably thousands of other people happen to enjoy playing "mediocre generic lifeless excuses for SHMUPs". The game is only £3 and I have had hours of fun playing it. It is games like these that keep PSN going.

  • "Myself and probably thousands of other people happen to enjoy playing "mediocre generic lifeless excuses for SHMUPs"

Ok, well sorry, each to his own.

But they are really below par. Games that are now 20 years old, provide more dynamics than these games.

I played 1942 which wasn't bad. Bit of a challenge to being with, then zzzzzz.

    Are they mocking us ?

Gradius, R-Type, Raiden, Lifeforce, Darius, Hellfire, Cave titles, DoDonPachi, Guwange, Galaga, Defender, Twin Cobra, Carrier Air Wing????

  • When I get bored of Little Big Planet I will probably buy Soldner-X next.

  • Ah ok. Yea i was looking at Soldner-X. Looks ok.

Wish it had a demo to download.

Is Little Big Planet a SHMUp?

  • lol. Actually you can shoot some things on LBP, but not the main idea.

Soldner-X reminds me of Project-X on the Amiga in 1992. On the Amiga I used to play Uridium 2 and Xenon 2 Megablast as well.

  • Ah yea Xenon 2 :) I remember it well actually.

  • Can you play Co-op in this game?

  • Not at the moment. But I expect if enough people buy this version they will do upgrades.

  • Like the mix, BTW. You just never do bad ones! The best DJ I know. The only one, too! But even if I knew more, it would be true. Keep up the good work.

  • Yeah.. I stuggled with the Spider. I have beat it but I don't think I'll get the trophy for destroying it without hitting the guns.

I'm stuck on Fizz Wheels on the Temple Of Gods. I don't think I'll get that Trophy soon either.

This game is a real challenge. Good though for £3.

  • make a walkthrough on how to beat that spider if you want views

  • I have 5 Platinums, Superstardust HD at 93% and blast factor completed and cant seem to do this game! i cant even beat that spider! it makes me so angry lol.

  • nice video mate i see on psn but wasn't sure what it was like looks fun

  • The game is quite difficult, but I'm sure with a few hours practice for 3 or 4 days. The trophies could be easily obtainable.

  • What r you supposed to do? Are the trophies hard?

  • I don't wish to be rude, but you've watched the video, and you still can't work out what you're supposed to do??

Let me put it another way:

Move ship, bang bang, things go boom - does that work for ya?

  • I didn't watch the video, that's the thing. Just me being lazy =) I like how you put a funny spin on your insult though =)
