hey, what states in the US speak the southern accent? i'm asian so i dont really know. i'd love to have a southern accent. :0.. dont people who have a southern accent kinda replace it with other accent, like east cost perhaps, when they move?

reba has retained her accent though, even if she doesnt live in oklahoma anymore.

The states that have a "southern" accent are: Ohio, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Lousisiana, Texas, Florida, South & North Carolina, West Virgina & Virgina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas. - And when someone from the "southern" states moves to a different location like to the east as you said they don't loose their accent - that stays.

'cause reba's accent is really obvious that it's southern, but then what about ellen degeneres, their accents are supposed to be similar right? ellen is not that obvious anymore. also carrie underwood. and sela ward. not like reba who retains it all throughout.

Reba didn't leave Oklahoma to live in Nashville until she was in her 30's so her accent was pretty set. Many entertainers deliberately get rid of or tone down their southern accents so they can get more work. When it was suggested that Reba do the same to land movie roles she refused point blank, good for her!! Why should she be ashamed of the way she talks, I love her accent. There are some truly horrid American accents and Reba's isn't one of them.

that is probably why some artists have the west/east coast accent instead of their 1st accents.like kelly clarkson, i didn't know she was southern until she had concerts w/ reba. now she has the accent back,thanks to reba.:0

yeah, i saw that in an interview of hers that she doesn't want to get rid of the accent. she even said "you have an accent, not me." lol.

Actually, the closer to Texas you are the more strong your accent is. Ha. Carrie Underwood's accent isn't THAT southern, I honestly believe it's put on for show, because Checotah is really just a town full of OLD PEOPLE. Ha, But understand - we Okies don't all talk with that kind of a country accent. :)
