I wish I had Compiz effects! :( My graphics card isn't supported, oh well. I might get a new one for this old computer that had Windows XP! lmfao XD. Screw Windows and get Ubuntu. I might get a new laptop that has Windows 7 and just install Ubuntu over it and get rid of Windows 7. Lol. Or I might just order a laptop from Dell that has Ubuntu preinstalled.

Ubuntu based on Debian. I don't know, what problem is find good theme for Debian (for GNOME, Fluxbox, KDE... whatever).

Debian is faster and more stable than Ubuntu.

yes, you can, under wine. if you install an app called "wine-doors" it will dl the latest directx and you can install any other microsoft framework you may need.

well since wine is a compatibility layer mostly for directx. most games will run. older games don't most of the time because most people want the newer games to work... so the linux community focuses on them more. most games are flawless and you can not even tell the difference

Just an FYI Ubuntu and other versions of Linux do not come out of the box set up like this person has it. It does take some configuring and customizing to get it the way you want it. This is where Linux shines in my opinion is how much you can customize it to fit you.

the counterstrike game seems really choppy. i dont think games run to fast under emulators. I'm sticking with windows for gaming, and linux for everthing else. Linux really is awesome regardless.

really isn't much difference. ALthough the new release of Ubuntu comes with Nvidia drivers and desktop effects standard. Pretty sure you could install compiz-fusion in Xubuntu....

Steam games run fine with "Wine".

Download steam installer and run that with wine.

My Nvidea card runs without any problems. Only snag is that games with wine run at hardware directX 8.1.

Ubuntu needs LESS resources then Vista tho and runs MUCH smoother!
