what recording program are you using? I need to find a new one. I've been using Audacity... pretty much become an expert at it... which isn't a good thing.

@giraffegira Hey man, I currently do not use this technique anymore. But it's 2 tracks duplicated and for each there's 1 at 100% left and 1 at 75% left and the same goes for right. It gives this extra feel, you can even play with those extra tracks to make it sound even more wide. EQ is mostly a cut at 120hz and a cut at 8khz and perhaps a little drop at 3khz to make the snare pop out more (snare boost at 3khz as well).
that's some fucking heavy grooves, boy. i really dig the little eastern-sounding guitar part that shows up around 45 seconds. i may have to steal that ;D KEEP IT METAL!!!

how did you get the guitars to stay chunky yet not clip i'm always having this problem on cubase at home. currently working on a metalcore e.p for my solo stuff and need to get some knowledge on eq's, compression and mastering
@NorthLockMedia EQ everything below 120hz out...else it's just muddy. Also mess around with a high-cut as well...starting from, maybe 8000hz (to make room for other instruments/sounds). I don't do a LOT of compression on the guitar tracks since distorted guitar is already very compressed. Nowadays I use t-racks as my mastering tool over the complete mix...and that's just awesome! This sort of sounds like Lamb of God. The screaming especially. Not too bad, not too good, recording quality aside. 2:10 was pretty sick tho :] I know this is old but its only constructive honesty.

@06a09 Probably not so much...i record with a Soundblaster Audigy 4 pro with external interface. Can record at 24bit / 96khz. I record on a Quad Core with lot's of ram. I think my hardware is about 1000 euros. Furthermore there's the software...you can look that up ;)

@rij666 First of all, use a good mic...i'm using a Sennheiser vocal mic. Second, make sure you're using quality input devices...so that the signal gets through clearly. Then your voice should never sound "screechy" or anything, just natural. Then i use EQ to cut some lows. A little compression to make all screams even and a mighty tiny reverb (really, just a alittle). There might even be some Sonic Maximizer in there to enchance and clarify the vocals...but i'm not sure!

@Scorge120 Hey man, thanks alot...i'm really sorry but i have no high quality. This is really old! You should check some of my newer material (it's all in my account, search for "lifescar"). I'm playing 8 string guitar now...in the newest recordings i record 2 tracks and pan each track 70% and a clone 100%. Which makes 4 tracks...and i use a little sonic maximizer on it too, and some external EQ'ing...high and low shelf...hope to have pushed you a bit in the right direction!!
How did you get such a beefy fuckin awesome guitar sound? I see you have cloned two guitar tracks, I have GTR 3.0 as well and it doesn't sound like that.

@OCKel2009 Hehe yeah, this is actual guitar since i'm a guitar player :). I wouldn't let guitar playing over to a plugin though...if you can't play your self maybe...but if you can, a guitar is a very sensitive instrument. I don't think any VST can really do a good job at that.

just some questions from me, i noticed you have 4 tracks for your rhythm guitars, which i suppose is 2 different tracks but both duplicated.
what do you do with the duplicated tracks and the 2 original tracks to make it so cool and big? panning, eq?

@Scorge120 Hey man, thanks alot...i'm really sorry but i have no high quality. This is really old! You should check some of my newer material (it's all in my account, search for "lifescar"). I'm playing 8 string guitar now...in the newest recordings i record 2 tracks and pan each track 70% and a clone 100%. Which makes 4 tracks...and i use a little sonic maximizer on it too, and some external EQ'ing...high and low shelf...hope to have pushed you a bit in the right direction!!

Im just wondering, is the guitar done using a plugin or is it an actual guitar. Im trying to find a good Virtual guitar plugin/program but have not found one yet.

@OCKel2009 Hehe yeah, this is actual guitar since i'm a guitar player :). I wouldn't let guitar playing over to a plugin though...if you can't play your self maybe...but if you can, a guitar is a very sensitive instrument. I don't think any VST can really do a good job at that.
