I have a problem, I have windows XP and this game is supposed to work, but when I'm on a mission, if my car comes in contact with anything, the screen goes black and a screen pops up that says "Interstate 76 has incountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for this inconvenence." Any solutions will be very helpful. THANKS.
try and find the gold patch it fixes a ton of compatibly issues and adds new graphic modes like direct 3d, 3d fx, that and setting the game compatibly exe to win 95 should have it running pretty good apart from a few sound glitches and a problem with the flame thrower

I'76 and Vigilante 8 were made by the same people, yes. I'76 came first but never won a whole lot of acclaim, so Activision released Vig8 for consoles. Both games are quite good if I say so myself, but, in answer to your question, both series revolve around a similar plot but are not related to each other storywise. Hope this helps!

The legendary Interstate '76. Finally I get to see it in action. I actually just got the game recently--but was too lazy to install it--so I figured I'd watch the youtube video before I get into all the action. BTW are there any weapon upgrades in the game like specials, rockets, homing missles or tub cannons?
Heard a Vigilante 8 remake is coming out as well. I simply cannot wait for that game to be re-released.
Sure there are weapon upgrades! After every mission You can get the weapons and car parts of the cars You destroyed. (You can upgrade weapons, engine, tyres, brakes etc).
The way You destroyed a car also matters - depending on it parts are going to be in better or worse shape.
That sounds... amazing. O_o This game should get more attention. I think they re-used the whole weapon upgrading bit with Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense, so I guess they pulled the idea from this game. I see now. Sweet I think I'll install the game tonight. :)

Sure there are weapon upgrades! After every mission You can get the weapons and car parts of the cars You destroyed. (You can upgrade weapons, engine, tyres, brakes etc).
The way You destroyed a car also matters - depending on it parts are going to be in better or worse shape.

That sounds... amazing. O_o This game should get more attention. I think they re-used the whole weapon upgrading bit with Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense, so I guess they pulled the idea from this game. I see now. Sweet I think I'll install the game tonight. :)

Theres a thing called "Fraps" dude. You can record games with it without having to put any hardware.
