Fascinating position. It's not that often that the overwhelmingly best move is so hard to identify. Very easy to follow habit and blunder with Clark's move.
I don't agree and nor does GnuBg. According to 3-ply and to rollouts at both 0-ply and 2-ply (1296 trials), Chris chose an awful blunder with an equity of -0.262 compared to the best move!
None of the top moves involved breaking that deep anchor and quite correctly, too. The danger of getting closed out isn't worth whatever gain there is in running. Chris' 22/13 gives away tons (33%) of gammons (6-6 being the worst as it spells instant death).
The move I'd have chosen, 18/9 leaves a man on 18 to hinder the opponent's men coming in from the 11 and 16 points, or to be hit and gain timing so that the home table doesn't get busted before the anchor on 22 does its job.
I didn't care for the proposed 18/14 18/13 much as that doesn't get in the way/threaten enough. The next moves will see those men get moved on thus leaving the outer tables to the opponent. GnuBg gave that as third choice but it's a bad move (-0.067).

The other good move from the rollout is 18/13, 8/4 (-0.009). Like my preferred move this leaves a rear blot on 18 to stare down the opposition, but also has that blot on 13 to add an extra taunt to the backrunners.
18-13 18-14 is indeed a difficult play to see but it is still a bonehead play. 23-18 is the correct play and its not even close -2.66% gnubg rollout for 18-13 18-14
you are all geeks what the hell is he on about

My mistake..I had Blue holding the cube to get 22-13 as the best move.

23-18 isn't a move, maareyes. Presumably you mean Chris' 23-13?
What do you mean by a bonehead play? lol. Bonehead is arguably the strongest bot on FIBS. ;o)

sorry, yes Chris' 23-13. And he gave a very good explanation of why he would play it and DAMMIT :-) IT IS THE CORRECT PLAY HEHE :-)
