I do like that they branched from turn based combat in this game, but I would've preferred if the real-time wasn't so...clunky? A bit more like KH or Zelda style gameplay. As it is now it still seems to appeal to people who can't make split second decisions and inputs.....which is what most FF fans are, I guess, so it's appropriate.

@Twillightadil They're Heartless found in the first game. It was a boss in Hollow Bastion right before sealing the Keyhole (fought in that room with flowing rainbow walls and stuff behind the Final Keyhole) and then again in End of the World. Big, purple, horn etc.

i am on chapter 6 and have angeals sword, i dont remember ever fighting this boss, it looks like this guy is at a low level cuz his hp(mine is at like 8000+),is it different because I have the usa version or did I miss something

its in the mail box if u have the game. if not it auto targets nearby enemies and all u do is press x. u scroll through actions by pressing l and r. x to select. modulating phase is like the slot machines at casinos. get 3 of a kind and u get power ups.

The slots add zero complication to the game, they're bonus attacks/effects that occur. It also ties into the storytelling as it represents Zack's mental state and the people important to him. Everything pays off in the final event of the game too, as strange as it sounds that slot machine really enriched the storytelling.

@SilentStalkerX I heard it's the opposite of complicated, i.e. simple and dumb. Supposedly, it is random, and there is no way that the player can influence it, rendering it meaningless. If that is true (I haven't played the game yet.), then it's one of the dumbest game design decisions ever.

Not to mention that, even if the game did not have the slots, the game would still be pathetically easy. As long as you have potions and phoenix downs, it's near impossible to lose the main quest in FFVII.

This game has no combos at all, you have to press attack and wait a second each time, it is only a step or two above turn based really....

(Don't flip at me, this is just MY opinion, the game is fine as is, I just wish it had more "omph")
