each number represents a fret that your finger is supposed to go to, and each of the numbers appears to be on a string. for instance, in G chord it says for the bottom string and the next string up to press the third fret on each, and for the next two strings up to leave them open. then on the second string from the top on your guitar, to press on the second fret, and on the very top string to press the 3rd fret. if there's an "X" then that means to mute the note on that string
We wanted you to keep playing! You sound great. Our father Phil Phillips here and the rest of us were truly enjoying being entertained by your great performance eating and sharing some buttery flavored popcorn! Keep up with your guitar playing skills! *GoldenViceroy*
i'm going to attempt to teach this to myself...i took guitar lessons for about a month, but i had to give it up. i still have Ol' Brown, but i hardly ever play him anymore...
i love this song so much though, and i want to learn how to play it for my boyfriend
Thanks for posting this. Helped me tremendously.

I'm incredibly new to guitar.
Can someone explain to me how to read notes like that?
Every site I go to has the chords set up that way,and I haven't the faintest how to read them.:(

hi there, good job! you should try playing an A7th instead of an A, I find it works much better.

what are those things your using on the guitar?
grdub001 2 years ago
its a capo. it basically clamps down the strings so you can play open notes on a higher fret. enjoy!
mikesmai 2 years ago
on what fret are you putting the capo??
Arevalo602026 2 years ago
@Arevalo602026 it looks as if it's on the fourth (:

It's slightly confusing because your G chord tab is upside down compared to the others.

I agree completely gn1coolts. ultimate guitar is shite. i recorded a cover of this with ukulele, singing saw and accordion - it sounds really nice.
