RESULTS NOT TYPICAL...They do not mention all the people who have tried to use the results and have been ignored by doctors. Ask them why they are compelled to say " The tests have not been cleared or approved by the FDA but have been analytically validated according to CLIA standards. The information on this page is intended for research and educational purposes only, and is not for diagnostic use."
If the Cashier at the my local grocery store could redeem my DNA results for and endless supply of FOOD, I will definitely try and invest in this DNA testing. hehe
i will share my experience , they didnt tell me not to eat for like 30 minutesbut it was on the far inside of the label but oooopppse i did 15 mins but i thinkthey still can read my spit , but im excited to do this
@WDF123456789ify nobody 100% white, but if you came from europe you have more chance to be white. i'm from european decent, and i might have some jewishblood
@jackburton2009 generations back you will still be non-white, as the humanrace came from africa or that is the most logical theory the scientist think
@ATouchOfMagic88 You're talking about 100,000 years ago, which is not relevant to us today, we have evolved since then, unless you're saying that modern Africans haven't evolved for 100,000 years.
None of the modern races are the same as back then although Africans and other third-world tribals are less evolved and more primitive. Some of them still live as if they were in the Stone Age such as the Papuan people.
Hi. I´m just wondering, on the ancestry info, did you get any specific data about your mithocondrial DNA haplogroup?. And, if you did, how specific?... I would like to have the test done but I don´t know if they give information about haplogroups (mtDNA and Y-DNA -for males-). Thanks
@TWOFACEXV3ST nah not really not every one is mixed or have admixture. there is just a part of people and is not because im racist but because i dont like by myself to be mixed. and u talk about the year 1700 its only 300 years not 10000 and its in ur dream u race mixer.
@WDF123456789ify why is that you sound racist i hoped im 100% that means you have no tolorence in any other race smh..sad sad sad but truth is no one is 100% anything that ended around the 1700's just get used to it i know it hurt's so bad to hear the truth but you should have kept the comment to your self, cause itt can be percived to a whole other level
Assuming that 23andMe is scientifically reliable, then their warnings about your potential for diseases comes from the fact that the science is bleeding edge, and many of the connections between markers and diseases has not matured yet.
As for the looking into your family, you have to be a little cautious applying these DNA tests. There are three kinds: mtDNA, Y-chromosome, and admixture. The mtDNA test tells you the ancestry of your mother's mother's ... mother.
The Y-chromosome test (available to men only) tells the ancestry of your father's father's ... father. The admixture test gives you approximate percentages of the amount of European, African and native American blood you carry; this is useful mainly to N/S Americans.
Consider: in 1800 about 1000 of your ancestors were alive. The MtDNA test tells you about exactly one of those ancestors, where her female lineage came from. The Y-chromosome test tells you about only one of the other ancestors.
The other 998 (+/-) ancestors information is lost to you, or rather it is so mixed up with all the others as to be undetectable individually. The info is useful to population geneticists in bulk, but really only a small piece of any individual's tale.
For lots more information on race and genetic heritance, visit frankwsweet channel and listen to his vids.
@allrightbrain it didn't offer much in terms of ancestry beyond the fact that I have eastern european in me... which I already knew... I wanted it to go deeper :(
@melissasmich on the 23&me forums people have mention sending their raw data to people likr dr mcdonald to get deeper in the ancestry . DNA tribes has a SNP Analysis for people who has the raw data from other dna tests and they''ll give you the tribes with the percentages [you'll have to pay for this one]
One cannot talk about genes without talking about environmental factors. Genes are switched on by certain environmental triggers. Having relatives who have died of heart disease doesn't make me automatically suseptiple to getting heart disease... that there MUST be something to trigger that proclivity like smoking, eating junk foods and not exercising.
A number of my family members on my mother's side died young and had stokes and heart attacks before they were 40. My father had asthma and later developed COPD and emphysema. They all had another thing in common... They all started smoking in their teens and had not so good dietary habits until they were older and started having problems.
I'm against it. They have your dna, you gave it to them. What can happen?...your health insurance can skyrocket, because of a "Higher than average risk"...your auto insurace will jump on it too...maybe you'll have blackouts...MAYBE you won't...but, if you have a "risk"...No home loan...you have a "risk" of dying before you pay it off!!! The information age is already stabbing us in the back...Why give somebody the pot to cook your goose in???
