  • The problem with religious people using the argument that "Without God, criminals have nothing to keep them in check" is inherently bad. A core issue with religion is that it devalues life, because if you go by Bible standards, we're born and live for X-Y years, and then live on for eternity afterwards. Taking that away makes the value of your life and time suddenly much more important, and more people would realize that any amount of punishment is very severe.

  • 1:10:34

I felt the force of that objection too

  • 51:19

The BEST possible way to teach someone the belief/knowledge point.

  • OMG MATS AWSOME.

  • When dealing with morality; If you have to take in context, is it really absolute?

  • Rockin' the new haircut, Tracie. ;)

  • What a superb episode!

  • These are my two favorite hosts, but they're all good.

  • the first conversation has nothing to do with atheism or religion but those two still know everthing

  • @101LiquidNitrogen one billion

  • 51:36 All we need now is for Matt to shoot him in the head with a cattle gun.

  • whats matts iq

  • damn these guys are smart.

  • Josh was great. He listened to Matt about how wrong he was and he said "OK" in a peaceful manner. It was both an emotional and passionate conversation that left Josh humbled in his new awareness of truth. I hope Josh calls back with more questions. I really enjoyed how he fought for his views.

  • "Used for non-profits"

    Lawl, Atheism is a Non-Prophet organization ^^

  • Matt Dillahunty is the most rational human being of all time ever everywhere.

  • @TomasMikaX Matt Dilladoey. Makes no sense because he has no sense!!!

  • @SuperNiatross Oh wise superniatross, please give at least one example, more if you wish, of Matt being irrational, or just plain wrong. I will be waiting with bells on.

  • @pmcdon02

Well he was a baptist for 28 years lol

  • @WaltonSauce you got me there

  • @SuperNiatross - Sorrry, I did not mean to add a 'like" to your comment. But I really wanted to say: What does all this mean in your post? Are you mad about something?

  • People get confused between the belief that there is no god, and the lack in belief in a claim of god. I've found the best way to "nip this in the bud" is to change my response to "I don't believe you", instead of "I lack belief in your claim". That usually stops the confusion.

  • I'm not sure if discussions of the multiverse are neccessary outside of comic books.

  • I'm not sure what the value of discussing whether these metaphysical things are "neccessary"--how many things are "neccessary". Food? Water? What else?

  • Cameron was a smug arrogant prick.

  • Merry Zombie Jesus Day!

  • I love the mafia boss analogy--And the immorality of the loophole doctrine of vicarious redemption through human sacrifice. Also the criticism of the morally equivalency inferred in the concept of sin to all imperfect acts was great. "Sin" doesn't allow for any nuance of degree of immorality on the moral spectrum. Great video guys.

  • Josh is giving us the useful stuff. There a set of rules and arguments that apply to everything but god is the exception.

  • dickcheese

  • I used to be a christian for over twenty five years. Thank goodness for people like Matt Dillahunty who actually bothers to read up on, learn and spread the truth. Religion is a simplistic lie. Christianity has ruined a big part of my life and holds many people ransom. No matter how innocent religion seems it´s harmful.

  • @jmisic For a second there I thought you were going to say you used to be a christian, then you took an arrow to the knee. This meme is driving me nuts!

  • Hello everybody

  • I was brought up a caholic in a loving house hold and always found facing the truth of logic very difficult. The hardest thing for me to let go of was the fact that i will never have a pint with my beautiful family again. So make the most of your friends and family .this is the only chance you will get(unfortunatly) Peace

  • You know the thing that I really love about Matt? He's not one of 'those' Atheists. The type that's like "oh I'm infinitely intelligent and so much better than you and I'm always right and I'm perfect and nothing you say matters because you're worthless because you choose to be religious". Yeah those arrogant types. He's like NO! You're moral. You don't need the bible, you're intelligent and moral because you are! You're not stupid and you can make your own decisions.

  • Love this channel. Good to be able to watch this in Australia.

  • at 1:00:00 it sounds like Josh is about to cry

  • Out-of-Austin viewer

  • I've never used that line "Your god is a dick!" One day I will! Thank you Matt.

  • wow, matt dillahunty is so right!

  • It's an odd argument... christians say there must be an absolute moral standard that does not depend on mere human opinion. And how do we know this? Because everyone has a conscience that tells us what is right or wrong. Yes, we know there is a standard independent of what everyone thinks, because of what everyone thinks. Huh?!

  • Tracie is a genius!

  • one of the best shows I've seen thus far ...good stuff Matt & Tracy

  • angel

    humility

    you are not eveyone's

  • All Matt really had to say was according to your reasoning then anything is sumissable and everything exists untill proven that it doesnt exist. I have a dragon thats invisable in my back yard, sorry you have to disprove my claim! Josh is so wrong!

  • @guitarfuckist Prove them wrong in what? All I said was this guy is not a scientist, and he is just simply debating idiots(and alot of prank callers) thinking he is some kind of genius, neither the atheists or Christians will ever truly "win" this debate, a real scientist doesnt waste his whole life bickering with theologists, they spend there life trying to make contributions to their field of science, most of the people watching probably don't even understand the theory of evolution besides w

  • @Seymour13 "obvious troll is obvious" is probably the most over used thing said on YouTube, why don't you use your pea sized brain to think of something original.

  • the final revelatin that came after the gospel was the quran sent to the last prophet muhammed, read it online

Almighty God challenges mankind in the quran that if this revelation was from other than God you will find many contradictions in it, there is not a single one, take up the challenge if you will, read the quran. it was revealed approx 1400 years ago and contains scientific miracle after miracle. why is islm the fastest growing religion in the world? THE QURAN

  • @readnow1978 Contradiction: science has nothing to do with magic(miracles).

Lie: the Quran has no contradiction. The Quran makes MANY claims that are not only contradictory, but have been DISPROVED, on par with the bible.

  • Hey I have a great idea...how about instead of bitching about religion on the internet, you do something like, I don't know, actually fucking contribute to the field of science! This guy is nothing but a fuckin wannabe and a sheep, who hasn't done anything in his life but whine like a little bitch. None of y'all are doing anything to help the advancement of science, and most of y'all probably don't know shit about science anyways, your just regurgitating shit you dont even understand. Go read s

  • @mrbillyba1 So call the show and prove them wrong.

  • @mrbillyba1

    Lots of assumptions, no foundation.

    Obvious troll is obvious.

  • which song is that the first few seconds in the intro? I cant remember where I heard it

  • regarding the call on morality,it's only objective to the extent that we share the human condition. that along with most human's capacity for empathy may form the basis for most moralities.

    that's my 2 cents

also i love matt's thoughts on the subject but i wish he could learn to be a bit more, shall we say, diplomatic with some callers. not for the caller's sake, but for viewers like me who would like to see the argument continued.

  • Matt was on fire this episode.

  • @sweetsweatyfeet YEAH he is! This has been such an entertaining episode.

  • @sweetsweatyfeet i love when he goes on those epic rants, which totally eliminates the other persons argument.

  • @sweetsweatyfeet You know why????......He had the trinity flowing him. The noodle, the sauce and the meatball ;)

  • Dog's are a perfect example of breeding sociability and willingness to be relatively dependant on humans for survival. I have to study it in college as one of my modules, and as we've already theorized dogs are just domesticated wolves that have been bred to look like they do today. Only the friendliest, tamest wolves were allowed to breed, causing natural juvenile changes to occur, e.g. floppy ears, whiter coat, curly tail, and of course, a human-friendly nature with a moral will to survive.

  • WOW, two of the dumbest people ever on the show this time, rofl. It is amazing how brainwashed religion makes people. In the face of clear facts, they can not accept it. They just stay in the same bizarre rut over and over again. They are like Heaven's Gate cult members.

  • I like it when Matt hosts the program.

  • The coin flip scenario was an epic pimpslap of logic.

  • Lol I love how tired Matt seems of dealing with these people. They're gonna make green hairs come out of his head!

  • I think partly why Americans are so taken with religion is that because they are baffled by old things. Here in Europe you live in houses that were built in the 19th century and you look out the window and can see 1000-year-old things. Just because something is old, it doesn't make us be in aw about it.

  • I don't see a moral problem with hate as long as it's founded in reality. If I hate someone or something, then I always have a good reason for it. Usually my hate stems from the fact that I can't abide injustice an inequality based on things that are out of a person's reach. Like based on race, gender, sexuality.

  • So strange looking back on this video. I think I was still a Christian when I saw it or at least a Christian in doubt toying with the idea of agnosticism. It was videos like this that helped me escape the bullshit quicker than I would have on my own.

  • God is real FYI

  • @wolffrost9 Well, you know what they say? Ignorance is bliss.

  • @wolffrost9 ...and by reading your recent comments on "Atheist Bitchslap", I am unable to take anything that you will ever type seriously.

And, no, you proclaiming a god exists, does not mean that a god actually does exist, in fact, judging from your recent comments (once again from "Atheist Bitchslap") it's quite obvious that a god doesn't exist. But even if he does, then he has the logical capability of a nine year old. Once again, this all taken from YOUR own logic.

  • @wolffrost9

Which one? In the words of Stephen F Roberts

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do.

When you understand why you dismiss all other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss your.

  • @wolffrost9 so is Santa

  • @wolffrost9 all hail Thor! thank you for opening my eyes

  • @MsOneiroi77 Indeed all hail Thor, but make sure not to forget the all father Odin!

  • It's a weird mafia boss who says: "I'll break your legs, or else...!" (1:17:28)

  • they are like speaking in space ship

  • Matt has the patience of a SAINT with the voice of an ANGEL. I am your DISCIPLE Matt.

  • Fractally wrong... I'm gonna have to use that.

  • Isn't Dillahunty International Studios just Matt's living room?

  • Every time I hear a caller arguing with someone on the show, I'm again reminded of the phrase "You can't win the game if they don't know how to play."

  • How can Christians say that god gave us an innate moral compass and praise it as a good thing, when the source of original sin was eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil? According to the bible, god wanted us to remain ignorant of morality. Gaining knowledge of morality was the ultimate worst sin possible from which all other sin flows. I just don't get it.

  • @apostatexp a thing that confuses me, is when christians say that god is the source of morality, and then say that god is good, or that gods morality is right. That means that they're using a different moral standard to judge god, so god therefore, cannot be the source of morality

  • @apostatexp

Same reason they claim we're responsible for sin, though God made up the rules that define sin and created us knowing we would break them. Further, God continues to create us on an individual level, knowing in advance who's going to hell and who isn't.

Why not skip a step and send some of us directly to hell?

The only rational argument to this logic (that I can think of), are that God is not omniscient or that it's all made up. Seems pretty clear to me.

  • One of the best AE episodes of all time!

  • I love that picture in the background.

  • Fuck yes Matt. Fuck yes.

  • I don't mind living in The Matrix as long as I can reasonably assume I'm not living in The Matrix.

  • @aphoxema Correct, that SO the point.

  • This is Matt Dillahunty at his best. A true classic.

  • I love 'fractally wrong'. I've had that thought before and there's a great feeling you get when someone puts your inner thoughts into words so that you recognise them immediately.

  • Jesus loves every one of you even tho most of u don't believe that he exists or that He's God. He's very real and gave his life so that we can live with Him who lives us more than u realize (alot more given ur disposition towards Him lol). I hope you decide to give Him a chance :)

  • @GodsMafiiaMan

Nonono, Haruhi-sama is the one true Goddess. Bouken desho! :3

  • @troy2062 You believe in Haruhi-sama as well? I am not alone.

  • @AznDemonLord

Excellent. Then go forth, fellow Haruhiist and spread excitement all over the world. n_n

  • @GodsMafiiaMan Do you have evidence for anything you just said? Go preach your nonsense elsewhere.

  • @GodsMafiiaMan Gave his life TO HIMSELF..FOR 3 DAYS, because of a rule HE came up with in the first place. Are you having a laugh? Stop with the fairy tales and grow up.

  • @GodsMafiiaMan the flying spaghetti monster really loves you even if you dont believe in him, and he is waiting for you to come around. I hope you decide to give him a chance :)

  • @GodsMafiiaMan I gave him a chance - a long one. I nearly became a priest. But the more I learned about Jesus, the less I believed in him. The bible is a vile and immoral book. Yahweh is a bloodthirsty monster who desired blood so much the only way it could be satisfied was to sacrifice himself to himself: the perfect human sacrifice. Even if you could convince me that the Christian god exists, he is simply not deserving of my worship. I reject him and his self-glorifying "love".

  • @apostatexp he wants us to love him yea but his love is based on us not him. N idk what u learned but someone or somethin lied to u cuz God isnt even close to any of those things. I've never fully understood why pple say they don't believe in God but at the same time they're so certain that they know the character of the God they don't believe in in the first place but it is what it is i guess. We're free to accept Him or reject Him as we wish but He does still love u dearly and wants u.

  • Dillahunty for president

  • FRACTALLY WRONG!

  • I'm glad they just cut to the chase and started the show rather than playing that song.

  • You atheists are filthy beasts from hell! Go die in a hole! Better yet go lick your master's feet... processed food is not good you guys need to relize flying spaghetti monster is the only way!! Untill you except FSM your filthy atheist ass is doomed! RAmen!!!

  • @PoppinFreshMe lol thinking about it,your right.

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • Love the mob boss analogy. I might steal that one.

  • @PoppinFreshMe The irony in your comment atounds me. Accusations of narrow mindedness at the end of a narrow minded remark. You must be a troll, because if you're for real then it'd be funny if it wasn't so ridiculous and moronic. Can I shine yer shoes, guv'nor?

  • This episode is awsome, it says in the description its a better audio track and the studio sound is great, but you should if you can make the callers sound a bit louder. I know the line quality is sometimes awful, even if it was just abit louder it would be better. It was hard to find a good level were i could hear the caller and the studio not been to loud, even with a good set of speakers. Just a suggeston, anyone eles thought that or is it just me.

  • @PoppinFreshMe I smell a poe?

  • I think Matt gets mad for a good reason. Imagine trying to argue with someone who misstates your position, refuses to follow logic, is narrow-minded and tries to apply logic too a fairy tale. Now, imagine everyday, you were to get the same weak ass arguments. It is like Matt is Bill Murray from the movie Groundhog day.

  • @whhardiek1972

Bill Fuckin Murray is the man, good reference dude. Chive On.

  • @whhardiek1972 It must also piss him off because he fully understands the fundamentalist mind state. Must be frustrating to have the same old fallacies he used to believe in, thrown at him.

  • @whhardiek1972 You're right, and what is even more frustrating to me is these prank callers, especially the ones that are atheists only masquerading as theists, and not realizing that the real ones usually don't need help in self denigration! They only end up making the show and the whole "message" look worse, which may very well turn heads of people who were considering the other side. As if just being a prank caller wasn't bad enough. That should make any host a little angry at times.

  • @whhardiek1972

"Imagine trying to argue with someone who misstates your position, refuses to follow logic, is narrow-minded and tries to apply logic too a fairy tale."

Isn't it just as stupid to keep arguing then? An opinion is a extremely difficult thing to change, I bet most of the people on the Atheist Experience came to their conclusion that God doesn't exist themselves, they didn't need Dawkins or Darwin to hold guide them or their hands. To keep arguing doesn't sound very logical to me

  • That "Rake-and-killing" guy was really annoying. hardly listening at all - GOD ( no pun intended) I couldn't stand him!

  • That's some epic Matt.

  • The FL caller what a christazombie!

  • this is a great episode

  • I love people who quote bible verses at atheists... We are the ones who have read that bloody thing cover to cover, what do you think caused me to question my faith?

  • 1:00:35

    O I hope he cried.

    By Josh! God damned faitheads.

  • John doesn't understand logic either.

  • Josh does not understand logic.

  • I thought it was a good show . i think Matt gets his point through well .This lady is very good also. Theists are always changing the question in a debate .

  • lol!!! 1:16:40 was hilarious!!

  • *sigh* All the new atheist experience episodes are utterly crap. This show is so dull and cliquey now.

  • @BriansBannister The only thing wrong with the show now is that too many atheists call. How are they utterly crap?

  • @asdfbobbyasdf Too many atheist callers circle-jerking the hosts, too much time given to obvious trolls (e.g. Mark from ASC) and too much waffling on about shite at the beginning. Matt has always been a nightmare for the latter but in the new episodes he was been much worse. He loves the sound of his own voice way too much. Oh and an almost zero-tolerance approach to any humour whatsoever with the exception of Russell Glasser.

  • This show would be much more succesful if Matt wouldn't always "go one step further" and try to completely turn them fanatics around. The goal should be to AT LEAST MAKE THEM THINK! They aren't going to change their lives after one phonecall, get real. The best you can do is explain to them you don't eat babies and worship satan... sometimes that's enough, just to make them stop hating atheists.

  • That guy around the hour mark, the one talking about sin and punishment.

So crazy, he just doesnt care, hes sick in his beliefs.

From what I can tell he thinks its fine that the same punishment is delt for joe blow that sins I dont know how, because we are all sinners bull, that is also delt for a murderer.

So the murderer kills an atheist family. He goes to hell. The atheist families only immoral act (for sake of argument) is not believing in god, he also burns in hell. Thats not acceptable

  • what is the name of the intro song??

  • The caller about claims of belief is so confused with himself.

His original call was about the default position of belief. I even thought that the callers original belief was that the default position is the middle ground, but then he gets into a stright position that there cannot be a middle ground.

He becomes so dense, and Dillahunty has alot of patience for such people.

  • Great episode...thanks for posting it again. Favorited (again).

  • I used to be so scared of hell. I used to fear this Balrog like creature punishing me for silly, insignificant things. But when I finally shed these silly, puerile indoctrinations, a heavy weight was lifted from my shoulders and it felt amazing and free. And I really wish more people could feel that feeling like i did. And they will in time, someday. Like people did with regards to Odin and Zeus, and Thor.

  • To caller at (1:15:57)

Actually it gets even worse. Apparently we're all born into sin due to Adam and Eve, so we're going to be punished by hellfire even before we're a placenta. Even before we're to step umbillical chord on the ground. And this is what you silly christians believe in. ANd that's why you people are horribly immoral.

Let alone, to be cast into hellfire for simply doubting , having witnessed

none whatsoever evidence, while a rapist is in the clear.

    That's nonsense!

  • 0:52:06)

Why is it that intelligent people always battle with this simple logic?? It always amazes me. But I think it's because they're thinking under bias. When you literally throw away this god bias, and try to consider the other option, your mind becomes free, and has no way of short-circuiting your thought processes.

This lad's clearly intelligent, but keep backtracking DUE to his indoctrination and religious bias.

Religion poisons the mind. Get rid of it people!

  • 0:35:25)

This guy at this timeframe- what a cock! He's obviously there to vent and argue, though being educated many times over. I didnt like him from the start of the call. That condescending tone, that sigh in the beginning. What a cock!

  • at 0:24:41)

This is hand in hand to ghostly experiences.

The experiences might me real. But the thing they're witnessing is not necessarily real. Until they prove it.

  • 2+2 = 4 Is not a concept is is a physical property of all objects in our uinverse, it seems to be abstract but counting and numbers ultimately describe things and are properties of those things.

  • LOL look at the background it's a spaghetti monster

  • A minor correction with the Duggars they are all their kids. XD She's pregnant every year. XD And people watch them because they are a freak show. XD

  • On the definition of Atheist however there is a guilty not guilty or a hung jury and that is agnostics they are the hung jury. So they failed to take that into account when presenting this argument and I don't think what they said is correct because they failed to bring this point up.

  • This why Norse afterlife is like 100% better, people who are in the middle get a middle afterlife it's not bad or good it just is. I don't believe it but Valhalla would be a cool place to be, I wouldn't want to spend my "afterlife" worshiping someone no I'd rather go off fight a bunch have some sex then die be reborn into the hall and eat a bunch then go out and do it all over again. At the very least I will not be board and have a bunch of wine which again is a plus.

  • Also I do wish fairies were real they are pretty and imagine shagging one of them? XD Just saying. XD

  • @MistressArte I will gladly agree with you and imagine that :)

  • @waltermh111 lolz ^__^

  • Apologist crap sounds like finger nails on chalkboard

  • The callers were better back then.

  • my beer Gods drink Gray ale!

  • An hour and a half of some of the most annoying, and sometimes moronic callers I have heard as of yet. As for the possibilities of gods... I can say that I am 99-100% sure that A god does not exist. As for polytheistic claims, I do not believe them, but I will not discount the possibility. I say this because I know that the monotheistic god was created by us through the stories of the polytheistic gods that were around a lot longer than it was.

  • BRING BACK 90 MIN!

  • After 1:18:00. Why are matt's arms being cut out of the frame??

  • Serious, why isn't this show taken more seriously by the mainstream media and given studio to use.

  • @simcult because their content is too smart and advertisers wouldn't touch it.

  • @simcult I'd have this as a national broadcast. That public access station they use is horrible. I'd rather watch the live stream, but they tend to glitch out on this relic.

  • @simcult Its on public access tv, but they do have a studio now.

As the summary explains, this is an old episode from 2 years ago.

Why it wouldnt be shown on commercial tv is because america still has alot of bias against atheism, so public access is where atheism gets a chance to have shows like this.

  • Josh got destroyed!

  • i tried calling in today. they only took 3 calls from the stupidest motherfuckers!! "why ya'll dont believe in our lord?" i dialed at least 40 times. why do they waste their time on the brainwashed when i really need their help?

  • @teleshaka

cause those guys dial once then stay on hold for 40 minutes dont hang up and keep recalling?

  • @chaoszieg the lines were all being used by the snake handlers

  • @teleshaka Have you considered sending them an email? Far more reliable than calling in, especially since it's an hour-long show now.
