  • how big is this boat your 115-etec is on?

  • I don't have any experience with the E-Tecs, but I have had a 1985 model 70 hp Johnson and a 89 model 115 Evinrude, and I currently own a Johnson Faststrike 150 and i know the OMC motors were the easiest cold starting motors I ever had. Much easier to start than a Merc. And they used wayyy less fuel!

  • @huntthehunters I think he means "baddest" as in most "bad-ass", as in a compliment to the motor.

  • E-Tecs are the baddest outboards on the planet. And I own a Suzuki a Johnson and a yami. Just how it worked out.

  • I have a Forbina Bambina with Yamaha motor, 20 hp, ;D it ''flyes'' very good :D

  • THe new generation of people don't know what wide open means, it first comes from the steam age, widen the valve opening on the steam train engine ,which I love. I am 53 and missed the steam age but was around the old guys, heavy equiptment, and also had all kinds of junk outboards, open it the old guys would say.

  • evinrudes are shit get a mercury or a honda

  • Hey Guys, what do u think, I bought a Eolo 590 motor boat which is around 780 kg just the body, I want to put on a 115HP outboard motor.

    what do u think?

  • i have an evinrude 115 on my boat and i just tried it out on saturday and i reached 52 mph and the motor was turning out 6,200 rpms...my evinrude is from 2003 its a fitch ram injection model....i have to try it out on the bay where there is no current, i was in a river when i tried it and i was going against a 4 mph current so i might have not gotten my full speed...i also have a stainless steel viper prop with i think 19 pitch...what kind of prop do you have?

  • @fishaholic2012 *ficht

  • what are you running for a boat to get 58 mph out of a 115 4cyl??? back in the day, we had a small 16 foot Bowrider with a 90 johnson, all rigged nicely,, we would get low 40s.. dont take this the wrong way, im not doubting it, im just curious, i love seeing boats go like hell without big v6s hangin off the back

  • its true what msgfl said. As I experenced that the hard way! =S Almost sinking with a full builge of water because the boat diped becaus we were going at least 50+ on the river and the scuppers started gussing in water theat the builge couldent handle. =S it wasent are best day. lol at least it dident sink though. :D

  • does your boat wobble and feel unsafe once you get if up that high? cause ive had my 115 etec doing 51 mph but I feel if I trim up anymore I have no control

  • @SkiDooR1der4liife , I want to say it is borderline at that speed but only when by myself, still within a safe feel concerning control.with another person onboard it is very solid with no wobble.to maintain that speed I have to trim all the way up give or take a hair in either direction depending on water conditions. Hope this helps

  • @adataman ok thanks, ill get a video up soon. whats the fastest youve ever had yours going, like perfect conditions? When i bought the moter the guy tested out some props to see which one preformed the best and he said he got 55 mph out of the 19 pitch but thats like perfect conditions with 5 gallons of fuel. He didnt have a 21 pitch but he said you could get 58mph with the 21 pitch, do you beleive that?

  • @SkiDooR1der4liife , The fastest i ever hit was 54 in perfect conditions. I am running a 19 pitch prop right now. what he is telling you is wrong, going up a pitch theoretically should make the boat travel faster but it will start bogging down. you will loose typically 200rpm per 1 pitch change up causing you to fall below your recommended rpm range to develop your maximum horsepower. Hope this helps.

  • @adataman ya that helps, thanks

  • @adataman Do you really want to beat the speed record? I don't really care about speed. Lower pitch is better for optimal cruise. I usually never go faster then 30 mph in moderate chop. I can go much faster, but what for? Just to burn more fuel? So after some experientation, I figured out that lower pitch prop gives me much better gas/milage ratio.

  • adataman...have you found that the 115 is too heavy for your 1720? I've heard that water will come in through the scuppers due to the heavier weight of a 115 or a 90 4s.

    thanks

  • msg6fl, I dont have that problem with this particular setup. The advantage is that the Evinrude is alot lighter than a 4 stroke so the weight is not an issue. If it were a 115 4 stroke engine it might be a little heavy, but actually i believe the boat would even handle the 4 stroke 115 if that is what you chose. In respect to the scuppers, there is absolutely 0 water that comes in, there was an issue with that years ago,but has been fixed along time ago in this model.

  • I'd love to find an old Aristocraft Funliner with the original windshield to restore and put this exact motor on.

  • fuck it... nothing above an e-tec

  • i was talking about what geicoman said, i beleive you and you are one of the reasons i bought this motor, thanks

  • dude thats hauling ass....rooster tail looks awsome

  • @turbomiata007 that is trimmed all the way out as far as it can go. will try to get some videos posted again sometime when I am in the boat alone, that is when i can really push it.

  • no i was referring to what geicoman said lol

  • thats a lie

  • ya, i just make this up to be cool

  • lol I believe it, sick ass motor.

  • wow, my grandpas 1984 glastron ssv 167 had a 1984 yamaha 115 hp motor and it went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster than this

  • maybe because that is a bass boat and this is a center console, still pretty happy with what it does.

  • Sounds like my 1992 Evinrude 120 "Looper" just 3 times quiter... and no cloud of blue smoke

  • Lol yea I love these motors but a fun fact I have a 17ft Launday with a 40hp merk Mariner and it will run 52 mph lol just thought I'd tell y'all that I call her the bullet .....

  • kinda loud..

ran it's tits off though...52mph sounds a bit like a fib though...especially in the GOM

  • sounds loud do to the sensitive mic on the camera, it is a small camera, not camcorder so it over compensates. nope, 52mph is not a fib, why would you think that. The GOM has several different conditions, wind chop ect. some days on smooth rivers we can get 54mph,sometimes the gulf and the wind give us 49mph.This particular day was 52mph..Bring beer and lunch and go for a ride, if we dont hit 52mph, it will all be on me :) Cheers

  • The camera is obviously near the engine for effect and you say it is loud... I love the sound of that engine, better than music! Going to get one this Spring.

  • Hi Guys, best choice of engine ever. I think the height is alright of course when trimming up and maybe a little to high will create a rooster tail. You might try raising the engine but remeber you will lose trim capability. Try the new SST 4-blade

"Rogue" and depending on your boats weight a 17 or 19 pitch will do great. This Prop really bites and holds grip even on full trim, your out on plane in seconds and up of as a rocket, remember don't over do it and think on "SAFETY", greets, JohnvK

  • you got a jack plate on that? nice rooster tail

  • no jack plate, just standard factory rigging...was thinking about though at one point

  • 52 mph that can vary on size of the boat whether it be legnth or weight.

  • that is 2 people, 15 gallons of fuel, 1 case of beer, 20 lbs of ice.... semi calm day in the spring. :)

  • nice run!! sweet motor i just bought 90 etec on a 16 aluminum.. what changed other than rpm when you went from 17-19 prop what gave best hole shot/top speed...?

    thanks

  • the difference from the 17 to the 19 on this application was about 4 miles per hour. Sometimes a struggle to get the motor to low end of top rpm range depending on conditions. But in the 4000 rpm range it is really nice, more speed less fuel as I dont run wide open all the time barely. As in hole shot. the 19 gets it up on plane very fast with no issues.

  • nice trimming.....

  • if we had that motor on our 17' boat, then it would do like 75 - 80 MPH. but it is also an aluminum fishing boat. so it is pretty light.

  • Comment removed

  • doubt it :)

  • we 2

  • Very good performance for 17 footer. 5 star

  • Yep, pretty fast considering my 18 foot only goes about 39 with the same engine. The again it's a tunnel hull flats boat. That immediately cuts hull efficiency big time. Finally got a video up of mine.

  • Nice! Pretty fast for a 17'!

  • were u by southwest pass off louisianna or closer to florida

  • dam i like your style...115 on 17 ft boat

  • In Malta we put 115s on 15 footers. What do you think?

  • i think thats very creative

    i put a 225 on a 15ft

  • it's only a 115

  • Nice! I own a 2006 1720CC Keywest with a 60 HP merc, it hits 30 MPH, fast enoght for fishing!!

  • Either size engine you go, keywest boats are great!

  • Very impressive 115hp on 17'cc are very impressive.... for me... 5 stars!

  • I have a 2006 23 mako with a 225 etec. My fuel burn at 32 mph is 8.1 gph. And i can troll for 6 hrs on 1 gallon of gas. My top speed is 50mph. And i have owned yamaha and mercury. I love my Etec!!

  • Damn!lol troll 6hrs on 1 gallon?I have a 40hp suzuki 2 stroke and i use up about 3 gallons per hour!

  • What type 17' center Console?

  • Keywest 1720cc

  • How many rpms are you getting at WOT?? And what's hull weight?

  • 5350 rpm. 5500-6000 is WOT range. Although I am running a 19 pitch prop.A 17 drops it to 47mph and 5650 rpm.. hull is 1050 lb i belive

  • sweeet!

  • what size boat is that on

  • 17' Center console

  • good sound

  • Nice.
