@kat2156 for what i can remember, this song plays when first "sacrifice" (or rather, important character) dies, in the very begining of the game. and lyrics of the song are telling about main villain, how he is obsessed to be reunited with his mother. at least i think thats the meanining, since this bad guy really likes to talk about his mother

This is the very first Silent Hill I played and the only one I liked. This one really creeped me out and honestly only seeing videos of it on here STILL give me the willies, what with the unkillable ghost and the "man in the coat". Oh yea and those damn hauntings! i hated this game when i first played but actually have come to really love almost as much as the first 2 silent hills. The first person mode really offers stages of intensity throughout the game. Your room is never safe. It would be cool if they had something like the room but with even more hauntings that happen at random.

I used to be like that. But I was really curious about the story. It made me fall in love with it. So I started to read all about it until eventually I had the guts to play... Lovely, I must say. Now I downloaded all the music from SH1-4 and SH Origins and even listen to it as a "relax/sleep" playlist. You should try getting into Silent Hill. It's beautiful and still creeps me out when I play :D

This vid is scary in itself. SH4 was the very first SH game I bought. I then bought SH2 and SH3 together. SH0 came after that followed by SH5. Couldn't find SH1 anywhere, but SH:SM will make up for that.

It's the prospect of knowing that the only way out of Hell and to survive is to venture through it and face its denizens that make it so scary. I think that's what attracts me to this game... along with the decayed, tethered look of the environment.

which silent hill game (2 or 3) is better for the kind of run, excited, giddy, stomach churning fear? as in fear mixed with anticipation of getting away and excitement? because i saw the mirror scene of sh3 and some others and they just looked downright disturbing.

Well, on a completely aesthetic level, Silent Hill 3 is more disturbing (see "Valtiel"). The visuals are probably the most intense and graphic in the entire series.

In Silent Hill 2, the terror is much more psychological. Sure there are disturbing scenes but the characters themselves are the source of the real terror in the second game. It's very driven by the story.

So for what you're looking for, I'd say the third because the scares mostly come directly from the monsters and the environment.

Ive played all the series. SH4 is not that bad, just different - but i can see why some SH veterans would not prefer SH4.

But still, Team Silent has passed the series to American developers.. hence SH5 feels like an action game to me. Hopefully the 'remake' of SH1 will be as good as the original.
