  • This song is beautiful.

  • I'M GONNA BLOCK ALL THIS SHIT... THIS SHOULD BE A QUITE PAGE, A PAGE WHERE YOU ARE ALL ENJOYING A BEAUTIFUL AND RELAXING SONG, WITHOUT ARGUING ABOUT THE STUPIDEST THINGS EVER! EVERYONE INSULTING FOR NO FUCKING REASON!!! NO WONDER WHY THE WORLD HAS GOT THAT BAD AND EVIL... I SEE MORE AND MORE BULLSHIT BEING SAID IN THIS VIDEO EVERY DAY MORE! CALM THE FUCK DOWN AND RELAX FOR FUCK SAKE.. ONE MORE FUCKED UP COMMENT, AND THIS PAGE WILL KNOW AN END!

  • unbelievable tekkers

  • Dear tara, fuck you. this ones for you.

  • Why am I listening to this on Valentines Day while I am alone?? NoooOOooOoOo.

  • Yeah it's just so raw. Whether it's good or bad is up for you to decide.

  • GOD I LOVE THIS CLEAN GUITAR EMOTIONAL STUFF SO MUCH>!!>ASDGADSFG

I want to learn to play this kind of guitar but I can't figure it out....

  • @MrMuddyBleach They use a lot of open tunings, it will help with your writing if you practice with some, just don't break your guitar strings now, haha.

  • @SitarKnight Thanks! Yea I saw a video of a band called This Town Needs Guns playing and the camera was right on the guitarist. I don't see how the stuff he was playing was even possible without an open tuning. Right now I have a Dano bass VI so alt. tuning are kinda out of the question, but once I get a tele copy for my birthday I'll be sure to try out alt. tunings and such.

  • It's in 17%/$£*64ths time you goddamn noobs

  • Music Theory is an afterthought, music like this is best enjoyed when it's accepted as a hormonal pulse. beautiful song

  • Oh, and just to clarify: the bottom number of the time signature is always an exponent of 2, so a time signature of 4/3 is technically impossible.

  • It doesn't matter if you're tall, short, black, white, gay, straight, man, woman, child, adult, dress in baggy clothes or skinny jeans. The fact that we all habitate the same planet in such a vast space makes this life as, short as it is so much sweeter when you listen to music like this. Hope anyone reading this comment has a happy day, and happy rest of your life =) All the best.

  • @back2bay666 Thank you. First smart comment i see in months.

  • @fkthlf no problem man. So many people wanna argue over the stupidest things on the net. I figured it was about time someone spoke some sense. Thanks for the comment, and take care.

  • @back2bay666 this is probably the most retarded comment I've ever read

  • @MrSkate4weed Yeah man, your comment is pretty stupid, but don't worry about it, I'll be over it now. Thanks for taking the time out to attempt mocking me, and just coming off as looking a little bit stupid yourself. Anyways, take care man.

  • @back2bay666 what a pretentious douche bag you must be

  • @MrSkate4weed And what makes you think I’m a pretentious douche bag? What, because you comment on a comment I made on a website and I tell you that you’re comment was stupid and in attempting to mock me, you’re the one that’s come off looking silly? Get an education or something man, there are bigger issues in the world than Youtube comments.

  • It's 6/4, bros. I talked to Mike Kinsella bout this after a show. Kidding, of course; my band played this in we have to keep time, so we learned it's definitely 6/4.

  • I thought it was in 12/8...

  • Lyrics so simple yet so much meaning.

  • Comment removed

  • Type in "Never Meant Naomi" to hear our 40 second cover. Fantastic song.

  • From a percussionist:

This is definitely 6/4, (each phrase is two measures of 6/4 to be exact). The groove in this song phenomenal.

  • @itsbuddydude it is definitely 4/4

  • It's in 3/4ths guys... 6/4, 4/3, and 6/2 aren't actually time signatures...

  • How can this song have 30+ dislikes.......do you have ears?

  • gonna guess 6/4

  • @collincake the lead guitar is playing a 6/4 polyrhythm over the 4/4 rhythm guitar and drums in some parts. you can technically count it either way though.

  • i'm just starting to actually get into music theory. just making sure i understand, this song is in 4/3 right? ...or 6/2. lulz, i'm a theory noob. sorry.

  • @anthonysjb It's 4/4 :) Don't let the hi-hat fool ya!

  • Comment removed

  • @fkthlf

fuck, i feel dumb, but thanks anyway. haha.

  • @fkthlf Wait no this isn't 4/4 is it?!

  • It's 6/4. Listen to the drumsticks at the beginning. You could also play it in 4/4. Wouldn't make a difference.

  • @fkthlf it's 6/4 brah

  • @fkthlf it's actually 6/4, regardless it's an amazing song and incredibly fun to play

  • @fkthlf a lot of people believe it is in 4/4...actually it's in 6/4...i'm not trying to be the troll that proves everyone wrong, but theoretically 2 bars of 6/4 makes a better count for a complete phrase than 3 bars of 4/4 in this particular cadence.

  • @anthonysjb The fuck?

  • It's 3/4 for most of the song, it switches to 4/4 around 2:15

  • @volumeswasyes

mah, thanks. not good with this shit. i guess i understand now!

  • @anthonysjb it's in 6/4 that's how i count it out

  • @anthonysjb but the bridge part's in 4/4 then it switches back :p

  • How about everyone shut the fuck up and just listen to the music instead. If you want to bitch about your ideals of what American football and European football, then go somewhere else.

  • Music like this, in my opinion, helps people become better people. A lot more inspiring than all that gangster rap. So sick of people saying I'm depressed when I listen to this band, when actually it helps me remember a lot of happy memories which always makes my day better.

  • american football is the loser football

but the european football is only for champs

american football=old african game"where is the coconut("political incorrect stolen)

    german,english,etc football= football for whites

    american(loser) football is for africans.....

  • @peterhabenichts

you sir, are a retard. go play SOCCER and take a dive when someone touches you. They need yellow cards like you need a dick in your ass.

  • Americans fucked up the English dictionary

  • Where do the emotive hardcore bands such as Circle takes square, orchid, funeral diner, ect bands fit in to those waves?

  • 1st Wave Emo = Rites of Spring, Indian Summer, Maximillian Colby, Julia, Embrace

2nd Wave Emo = American Football, Cap'n Jazz, Mineral, Braid, Jimmy Eat World

MTV Hot Topic Pop Punk Wave Emo = My Chemical Romance, 2007-era Fall Out Boy, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional

  • This song's so beautiful, and it really resonates with me deeply

  • check out "My Old Bike", influencend by american football !!!

    very similar

  • It's sad that people are only going on about emo on this video , and forgetting american footballs' post and math rock credentials:/

  • @LnBguitars true that

  • In fact with a couple of good AKG's Earphones 320 Kbps will always sound better, you can hear the layers of the different instruments. <3

  • this is one of the deepest songs ever written and you dipshits talk about the quality of the compression? what is wrong with people these days...

  • theres no such thing as a genre, stfu and listen so you get smarter.

  • @JakeBPlaysMusic genre: "A category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter."

Hmm... Genres definitely seem like a thing to me. I don't see why you have trouble believing in them when they are simply a way to categorize music. Grouping things together makes life easier.

  • @peanuts447 grouping things together also means people take sides, comment, and fight about things you shouldn't fight about. especially on youtube. just listen to the music, miscellaneous person that i'll never meet.

  • @JakeBPlaysMusic k love you :D

  • best emo music ever

  • The irony is that all math sounds the same haha

  • @tiamoofficial NOT TRUE. For an uneducated ear, (not that you are one) perhaps. A changeable time signature composition, can never sound the same.

    Haha?

I think you're confusing Post rock with Math rock.

    Haha.

  • Very good lyrics!!!

  • Sooo Owen eh? thumbs up that shit if you know what i mean.

  • @sonicfanatic4949 Me too... at the time i didn't knew about kbps so i dowloaded the cd and i was happy with it, but i recently found a 320kbps copy and it is a bit better. Just a bit.. i think this one is a little more than 250, so doesn't change much.

  • @fkthlf Noobs. V0 is the way to G0.

  • @sonicfanatic4949 fucking /mu/ loool

  • @sonicfanatic4949 it's 768kbps CBR

  • @sonicfanatic4949 pretentious moron. as if you can actually hear a difference between mp3s ripped in v0 and v2 versus 320. you're just trying to look like you have sensitive ears and anyone that actually does knows that the difference is insignificant and only pretentious douchebag act otherwise.

  • @slippysdemise

    Sorry for having better ears?

  • @slippysdemise depends how good your hi-fi is. don't be a douche

  • thanks American Football for this amazing song!

  • Emo Math rock.

I'd call it that because of the sad lyrics and the math rock tempos and guitars.

  • everyone is arguing about the genre. i would have just guessed it was math. but who really knows.

  • this band is incredible... surfer, stoner, groove music is what we'll call it

  • Comment removed

  • felling a bit EMO?...Quick get that man a 40oz Porterhouse, a flagon of ale, a Macanudo and a saucy wench to wait upon his needs!

  • obscure independent music doesn't have to be weird. see!

  • genres of music are bullshit anyway fuck it ya kno. but im pretty sure this was considered indepenet music when it came out.

  • @Alecmfaulful What do you mean "music genres are bullshit". In this time and era of Itunes, Internet Radio, and more, it is necessary and well needed

Yeah I've heard that mantra "Why you care about genres, is good music, enough said". But really!, if you are into certain GENRE OF MUSIC, would you like to be suggested a song by another artist from a completely another different GENRE?. Perhaps one that you don't like at all? I bet not. BTW I've never heard of "independent". Alternative perhaps

  • @MarleyXVI You're so fucking wrong, THIS IS emo... the rest are bullshit.

  • @MarleyXVI this is just as awesome as TBS, this is like indie rock, TBS is like pop punk, real emo is like saetia

  • @octococtoc TBS is NOT pop punk haha

  • I'm honestly head-desking trying to figure out why so many people decide to verbally molest me about how no one is allowed to cover this band, how much the LTA cover sucks, etc, etc. I really don't fucking care how high you hold this band, sure they sound good, and this song is beautiful, all I'm saying is that I appreciate both versions, and no one has to be offended by my opinions.

  • Grow up kids, stop labeling already.Music is music, you either like it or you don't. Everyone listens to different types. Stfu or gtfo.

  • This was before emo meant dressing like a gothic homosexual and listening to pop punk!!

  • @1dixielandcrew "new emo" and pop punk were never related. But I see your point.

  • @1dixielandcrew I dont know anyone in the pop-punk scene who dresses like a homosexual gothic and claims to be emo lol

  • @gerardormz94 Then you're lucky. I know way too many faggots like that that literally think MCR is an emo band...

  • @1dixielandcrew 1)There is nothing wrong with goths.

2)There is nothing wrong with homosexuals.

3)There is nothing wrong with any genre of music; pop punk included.

  • @FrodoFeeder You're the man.

  • @FrodoFeeder awww yeah.

  • @FrodoFeeder

    fag.

  • @FrodoFeeder I Disagree, at least with the pop punk part. Not all music is created equal. This is better than pop punk... fact.

  • @lickapotato

as long as there's emotion involved with the writing of music, it's good imo. i love pop punk, and i'm in a pop punk band, but i'm also trying to start up a side project like this. look at transit. they're basically perfectly between american football and pop punk. but, i agree that there is a lot wrong with dressing like a gothic homosexual.

  • @anthonysjb what does the way someone dresses have to do with anything?

  • @FrodoFeeder You had me 'til pop punk. Still, way to fight the good fight, brother.

  • @FrodoFeeder trust me there is something wrong with the homos thats no doubt

  • when lower than atlantis do this song better justice.

  • 13/8 time?

  • Comment removed

  • @GrockJake The only thing i would like to get rid off are ignorant women who gave birth to people like you. Fucking asshole.

  • Fuck all that later bullshit that took a perfectly legitimate genre's label (emo) and made it into a joke. >: (

  • @Oggranak gj being emo about it

  • @MarleyXVI

....I rather like taking back sunday....

  • who the fuck cares what kind of music taking back sunday is? this is american football. shut up already. fucking internet.

  • @MarleyXVI taking back sunday isn't shitty, but no they're not emo. 99% of people who use the work emo don't have any idea what it means.

  • @MarleyXVI What? That's pop-punk, and most emo's these days hate pop-punk and listen to screamo. Screamo is bullshit btw

  • @redsox1188 taking back sunday isn't pop punk... i wish people would think about what they were saying before they put their fingers to the keyboard

  • @MBIIdollaBill "Liar" sounds pretty pop-punk too me. Think along the lines of Bowling for Soup, Panic at the disco. Maybe not as joyful as most pop punk bands.

  • @redsox1188 And by Screamo you mean... no scene kids don't listen to Screamo goddamit, it is in the same situation as Emo, 99% of people don't know what Screamo actually is.

  • @meshuggah2727 Screamo, as in what most people refer to when they say screamo. Metalcore, Hardcore, some post hardcore that includes lyrics that are screamed. Band's like Bring me the horizon, a day to remember, black veil brides, tdwp.

  • @redsox1188 So then you aren't even referring to Screamo, most people don't know whaty it truely is, mostly due to mtv misusing the term horrificly.

  • @meshuggah2727 Theres actually a specific genre called Screamo?

  • @redsox1188 Yes, actually. Check out Pg. 99 or Orchid to hear some good examples of what true Screamo really is.

  • @redsox1188 Post Hardcore isn't what you are refering 2. P-H is stuff like Fugazi. Learn your history. Look up waiting room.

  • @MarleyXVI this is emo wayyyy back in the 90's. the term emo was ruined by faggy little kids and bands like taking back sunday!

  • @josh1gdc1 the term wasn't ruined by taking back sunday, or other bands like them. it was because of everyone, from music critics to fans, who misused the term to describe everyone from fall out boy to senses fail. its not the bands' fault that people place these labels on them inaccurately.

  • @MarleyXVI LOL no at all dude

  • looking for this song hvent heard it since i was 13

  • AMPED 2!

  • This song is so amazing.

    i must buy this!!

  • Owen do a good cover of this. I'd actually say it's on the same level of awesomeness as this one.

  • i like the music a lot more than the vocals, just sayin'

  • I love this song so much. That is all that need be said.

  • Wow these guys sound just like the band "Old Gray"

  • @sk8brder40 im friends with them. and there one of my fav bands ever

  • @TheTaylorVegas Old Gray or American Football? I'm real good friends with Raph of OG

  • @sk8brder40 Well you see, "Emo revival, twinkle daddy" bands like Old Gray, Snowing, Algernon Cadwaller(idk if I spelled it right), 1994! and other bands with this label sound like this because they draw a large inspiration from this band, that's why they have the trade mark "twinkle daddy" sound. So American Football are pretty much the first "twinkle daddies." This band is a staple of 90's emo. Hence why these newer bands are considered "emo revival"

  • @djmarco90000 and dont forget Cap'n Jazz and Joan of Arc.

  • Beautiful...

  • fuckin amazing

  • its hard finding good bands.......anyone know of any similer bands that i also might enjoy?

  • @Squrtle14 pavement

    all-time quarter back

of montreal early four track recordings

  • @DASPLEEF thanks man, and eyy u might wanna check this band out but u might alrady know them , there called jets too brazile........there really amazing

  • @Squrtle14 You might already know them but minus the bear brought me to american football

they are both chill music but i feel like american football is always more nostalgic and mtb is happier. If u dont like them try capn jazz

  • Respond to this video... yeah i listen too minus the bear but thanks anyways bro, atleast your not a troll like most of these people on youtube that have nothing better to do

  • @Squrtle14 are you part of the npct?

  • @papicock69 whats that bro?........im sorry but im not part of anything im just trying too find really good bands with this similar style of music

  • @Squrtle14 Mock Orange.. they're bit harder but fucking nice all the same.. interesting as, music bro

  • @Squrtle14

You might like ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead. Check out their album Source Tags & Codes. You'll like it.

They're more post-hardcore oriented rather than "Emo", though.

  • yeeeeeuh

  • I heard Lower Than Atlantis cover this song. Both of these versions are amazing :)

  • @MusicallyInclined101 I heard it, it fucking sucks man...

  • @fkthlf To you maybe but I'm not going to start an argument. But I've liked LTA long before I heard this song. The Hardcore style just seems to work for the lyrics, kind of like a punk boy/girl relationship.

  • @MusicallyInclined101 It should be illegal to cover this band.

  • @MusicallyInclined101

I'm a huge LTA fan, but even I admit that their cover was pretty terrible. At least their two albums more than make up for it.

  • Comment removed

  • Let's all argue about pointless crap XB

  • @BesitzenDUBBED Rabble Rabble Rabble Rabble!

  • i done this song for my high school music project. i will never forget it. incredibly beautiful.

  • beautiful song.

  • 480p doesn't change anything on songs without a video, if you uploaded a music video where the song was actually connected to the video then the definition would change the quality of the audio, but all this is is just a picture with audio and it doesn't change regardless of what definition it is in. . .

  • @beatles61 actually i'm wrong, if you put the video in 240p, there is a huge difference. . . i'm sorry. but from 360 to 480, no difference

  • @beatles61 Theres a difference between 360 and 480, it's just that the human ears can't hear that difference.

  • wtf with "watch this if you're sad", this just made me sadder

  • to the kid bitching about the annotations, uh, what exactly were you trying to watch here?

  • great song, brings me back...

  • 12/8

  • I remember getting this CD in from Equal Vision mail order...

This song is pure beauty in a way that transcends time and especially genres.
