  • @tammizawa Sorry about that I know what you mean, Its so beautiful but it just pours out all the emotional stuff again, But just remember you have your heart back, Embrace that x

  • I love James Ingram! I have always listened to him sing over the years. He sang many songs with Patti Austen years ago. He is just the most wonderful singer and most handsome and sexy as well. wonderful singer.

  • this is literally my jam according to "Billboard's #1 Song on this date in History"

  • Just a note to everyone out there, this song was the number one single according to billboard as of October 20, 1990. To put things in perspective I am now of legal drinking age and that was my birthday...

  • You know when you are in love? When you finally realize that every love song you have ever heard is true.

  • sing your song man, this song mean so much

  • Five people with bad taste.

  • These lyrics are so personal to me. I find myself in this exact situation right now. Someone that lovesme very much but as the lyrics go "I don't have the heart" to properly love them back. wow.

  • I can feel the pure honesty in his voice. if only we could be that honest.

  • odd resemblance to Anthony "Romeo" Santos...

  • inget suasana di rumah kebon kacang, .. inget kaka kaka yg sekarang udah g pernah ketemu,... inget sama babeh yg sudah tenang di alam sana ..

  • very touching!

  • Classic... I remember my mom playing this song when i was like 9 or 10

  • i m a singer and this is a monster

  • @annelisseish ... EXCUSE ME... Are you calling " JAMES INGRAM A MONSTER? If you are you're a nutcase! lol

  • For all the relationships that doesnt work out well ppl should listen to this!!!!

  • I can listen to this song all day everyday if i have to i mean i just love it that much!!

  • Omg!! this song is just way too heart broken!!! :(

  • How do you say goodbye to someone without hurting them, when you're not trying to? That is the struggle...not easy.

  • @mrcapablanca i agree.., thats why theres no easy way right? :(

  • oh my gosh this song is so powerful

  • i loved and lost , we carry this with us forever no matter who else we meet and how happy we are, a part of our heart is always with that other person

  • James Ingram's best song! "I Don't Have The Heart" reached #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart in October 1990! In a world of rap & hip-hop which was dominating the music charts @ the time, this was a refreshing change of pace!

    Bravo, James!

  • It is sad when someone in your past has your heart and you can't seem to let them go. I have tried, but I keep remembering how sweet love was with that special someone.

  • One of the best R&B love ballads, period; sung with so much pain and emotion. Sing it brother......

  • just wanna share my feelings la po..he said aq lang mhal nia, sbi nia sa akin xa kmukuha ng lakas.. eh bkit humnap parin xa ng iba? bnigay qna lahat2..bat gn2 parin..sbi nia magbabago nxa... sb nia bgyan qpxa ng chance...binigay q naman un ah...hndi qna mbiling ang chances n bnigay q.. pero paulit2 lg eh.. knina nhuli qxa,,,pero d q nxa knomfront ...sawang sawa na aq...pro e2 mhal q parin...anu gagawinnn q.. :((((

  • @prettyliciouz110388 kalokohan n yan, itigil m n yang katangahan m.. sorry for the term, but u deserve happiness. Love yourself first, to let people or someone you love most to love you. Learn to respect yourself. We are responsible for our own happiness. So don't beg for love. You'll find the right person in God's ways in God's time. :) I hope it helps.

  • @prettyliciouz110388 nothing,,,, let it go.. :(

  • incredible voice.

  • Where the hell did he get this voice from???! Omg he is sooo great! Makes you want to fall in love in seconds =)

  • A very underrated singer.Great voice from a very classy gentleman.

  • ,,hayyy nkk inlove nman ang mga songs na kgaya nito..na mmz ko tuloy ang mahal ko..mylove this also 4 you,,

  • Other Guys

  • there aren't many singers today who sing with that kind of emotion and really make u feel what they're singing ..

  • @TalithaTaila you are so right .

  • @TalithaTaila You call that, 'dumbing down of america,' the marketin producers only allows middle of the road stuff like ' half/truths - half/real ' , keep them guessing cause half are divorce/seperated, and living a serial monogamus not sure we gonna last more then 2 yrs together, cause my credit cards are overloaded and ....' It sounds funny for a while but when you reach 50, it's sick. My brother never seen his 47 birthday, he couldn't deal with divorce.

  • I just don't have the heart right now for either.. it is killing me that I know this fact..:-(

  • this song always makes me cry like a baby ... it really tugs at your heart strings !!!

  • @MegaCandy1981 Me too. I think this is a song that a lot of us can relate to. Someone liking us and wanting a relationship, but we don't feel the same way about them. Been there several times myself, and I'm sure many other people have been as well.

  • "I don't have the heart to hurt you, it's the last thing I want to do. but I don't have the heart to love you, not the way that you want me to. " - did my ex bf write this? :'(

  • @kaycee0525 i thought the same thing :(

  • What a great singer James Ingram is---so the argument that great music ended entirely in the 80's isn't quite right! I still cry like a baby everytime I hear this song--for very personal, sentimental reasons! Peace, BobbyK

  • This song should be in the "Man Handbook" in the section for breaking up. It sure beats just walking away with no explanation.

  • Absolutely love this song...

  • This song has always made me cry.

  • @chrisjdd Baby, it still makes me cry!!

  • This song gives me the goosebumps. Hmmmm. Love this song!

  • |Who on EARTH are the 3 fools who dislikes this song ?!?! Dont you have a soul ??

  • love this song, but I never associated it with a break up, I just enjoyed Mr. Ingram's great vocals.

  • This song just tears me up.

  • This song is disney-end-credits-esque. Reminds me of those cheesy 90s love songs such as Beauty and the Beast, Go the Distance, and A Whole New World. This song sends chills down my spine.

  • I also agree that the music today is nothing like the 80's and 90's. It just doesn't hit that special spot that makes love even more beautiful and meaningful.

  • what happened to music like this? they just dont exist anymore. its sad..

  • now this is wat u call real MUSICCC!! i love it

  • I love that song and the varm sexy voice of James Ingrams :-)

  • I love the agony in his voice " I care about you, ssoo much about you, baby I'm trying to say this as gently as I can" classic!!!

  • @toocurious34 I argee with you i love it too!!!

  • i love this..it's so beautiful!

  • I'm sorry to all those people who's relationships didn't work. This song is way too personal to them. I'm sorry. Hope God gives you a better one this last time around.

  • 2 people hear Justin Bieber

  • Lets not forget about Mr. Quincy Jones who wrote a lot of his music

  • Why is it that this artist continues to go "unsung" in the music industry? Could it be because he didn't sing about "ass' and "money" and "womanizing?"

  • @ChocL8GRITS I agree with you and that is exactly it and it is such a shame!! It seems you have to come down a red carpet in an egg in order to get respect in this industry, it is sad indeed!

  • I love you James,oh James ,oh James ,oh James I just can't get enough of you.

  • oh' my God..this is really awesome!!!

  • Prime example of underrated but its okay. I appreciate and respect this man so much and his music and im quite sure there are millions out there that feel the same. Very lovely voice and song Mr.Ingram. Wow. God bless you

  • This guy can REALLY sing. Awesome...!!!!

  • This man really is underrated!

  • This is one of the most powerfull songs ever. To know the pain of trying but having the heart to be honest . That is a quality that many in love don't have. I Love this R&B music and this is a great one. Thank you James Ingram what a voice.

  • James Ingram & Usher are tops in this type of music!

I just love soul and r&b!

  • James Ingram is money. 'nuf said.

  • I dont have the heart,.sad yet beautiful!

  • kacza_qpa??

  • One of my favourites!!!The words spoken describes the way you feel inside.Music like this WE should CHERRISH..Love this song.

  • 3:09 to the end =epic with the voice and stellar guitar lead

  • so heartfelt and beautiful and poignant. These are the only ways to describe the music that he has made. Its great that it was etched in the frameworks of our minds and will continue to resurface at some point. Leaving this as a gift is to be considered and always respected. It is to be played for the sincere individuals in an effort to express their love for each other

  • James Ingram is the man! I always loved his music: Just Once and How do you keep the music playing. I use to listen to the latter all the time. The music was soothing to me before I got into the ring to box. Thanks James for your artistry.

  • That´s a true artist among commercial music.. not everything is lost!

  • feelinggg..........

  • Sick drop at 3:09 ..!!!!

  • great voice his music will always be loved..........

  • I dont believe HE dosent have the heart..Love you James you still lookin reel good Bro..Peace

  • fantasy-ish background sound in the song

  • james ingram is the best singer and has a unique voice quality i had ever known...

    his songs are so remarkable...

  • Not only does James have a tremendous voice for soul, but I am always impressed at the quality of the production in the work. It's top notch and Grammy worthy everytime out:)

  • @vladislav2000 STUPID!

  • one of the best songs from the 90's.....this song brings back a lot of memories for me....I always liked to hear James Ingram sing and also this is the kind of music that is missing from today's radio!

  • it is a great song! Really romantic and it touched my heart

  • JAMES IS CREDIT TO MUSIC INDUSTRY

  • Please, someone tell me! What do you call that signature, "catterwauling" sound that James always makes in his songs, such as at 3.11 - 3.15? I don't think there's any of his songs where he didn't do it! Beautifully characteristic!

  • James Ingram ... the best! I love this song to bitzzzzz!

  • The inspiring year of 1990 remembered.

  • he is a complete testament to his album name. simply powerful

  • loved it..thanks!

  • to mr.S.E.. can you pls. trust me.. i know i wasnt good enough.. but its just me.. if you need someone to talk to, im just here.. i do care for you.. im not expecting you to return what im doing for you..

  • i love this song,its so beautiful!

  • Sarah, although we are not given the chance of being together but in want you to know that i have loved you more than anyone did. i know you've been through so much pain because i was too coward to admit that i am falling for you, but behind these i stood waiting behind you ready to be there when you'll need someone, now 6 long years past, and i still feel the same about you even if you're with someone else... i just wished you tru happiness and i'll see you again in the crossroads... i love you

  • Such a beautiful song!

  • absolutely beautiful

  • keep up the good work

  • underated this music is

  • I wonder what was the inspiration for this song! He's got an amazing voice. Hardly a heart breaker, but it seems to be my message, in part, to the world at large as I encounter it. 4 minutes, 14 seconds of secular musical perfection. Only 43, 747 views, so possibly not received well on YouTube, but very well on Billboard. I was listening to this in 1996 in Denver when God? commanded I "be somewhere else."

  • I loved this song...fall of 90...was in 5th grade, Simpsons and Law & Order were brand new shows...Giants were on their way to the Super Bowl...really the only good year of the 90's

  • First there was the soft rock classics "Just Once" and "One Hundred Ways" (released on Quincy Jones' 1981 album "The Dude"), then the 1982 smash ballad "Baby, Come To Me" (a duet with Patti Austin that hit #1 in early 1983), then the 1987 hit ballad "Somewhere Out There" (a duet with Linda Ronstadt that peaked at #2 on the pop singles chart) and then this classic storm ballad that hit #1 in late 1990 (though it was first released on his album "It's Real" in 1989).

  • @sliv812 You just listed all my favorite songs by James Ingram and I'm 21 years old lol

  • What more can you say about this guy? What a voice! What a class act! Thank you Mr. Ingram for sharing your tremendous gift with the world!

  • Beautiful!

  • CAREFUL! This song could bring ya ta tears.

  • i Love u this

  • He is the best! Thank you James Ingram - another heart breaker, but sometimes these words are necessary to get through a love situation. Thank you.

  • i loved 8..

  • what a nice song

  • Such a super voice and what a great song.Could never get bored to listening to his music.

  • James Ingram could always sing his behind off. So much talent. This song is so beautiful. My cousin Bunny looks just like him. James Ingram please come out with some new music.

  • James Ingram has such a terrific voice and I agree does not get the credit he should for his music.Superb song.

  • This Song Is one of my all time Favorites and i agree with latrixiemae, he didnt get enough graditude/credit for his songs. His voice is alot better than a few others who got ALOT of credit and still do...James Ingram Rocks!

  • just finish watching patti labelles video "on my own" with micheal mcdonald somebody thought her duet was with James Ingram. I thought that was interesting because they both have similar singing styles as a matter of fact they can both if they wanted to sing each others songs.

  • love his songs..:-)

  • this song is definitely one of the greatest songs of all time.. james ingram quite have a very beautiful voice as to say.. it melts the higher notes and make it more frigid.. he really have the heart and passion for singing.. listeners can do feel it the way he did for this song..

  • BTW, Thom Bell also did another song for James Ingram

called "Where Did My Heart Go?" On that song Carlos Rios

played the guitar solo. He also is known for playing the lead

guitar on Lionel Richie's Dancing on the Ceiling and toured

with Lionel Richie and also played on Boz Scaggs 1988 album

Other Roads. Carlos Rios is one of my favorite guitarists

  • James had this song from Alan Rich for a few years before

he finally recorded it. He said the song almost made him

cry the first time he heard it so he hung on to it.

This is really Thom Bell's and Jud Friedman's masterpiece.

Thom Bell even played the bass and Friedman played the

keyboards. The lead guitar on the fade is classic Paul Jackson Jr.

Paul Jackson played all the guitar tracks.

  • great song

  • i just love listening to this song,, especially afternoon or nightime if i wanna go to bed ahah

  • James ingram was so awesome. i used to remember my mom cleaning to these songs.

  • Great voice!

  • I love this music...and the artist as well.

  • I love this music...and the artist as well.

  • this song must be gayest of all love songs.

  • This song is weird. and stupid too. why would you NOT HAVE THE HEART? I don't understand? what's preventing that?!

  • huhuhuhuhu.... reminds me of someone...

  • This is one of THOSE songs. Ones that tell the truth even if if hurts. I LOVE IT! Better to know the truth feel hurt that to be lead on and be completely shattered when you find out the one you love doesn't love you the way you want them to. James Ingram is an amazing singer.

  • Terrific song this , what a singer James Ingram is.

  • yesterday i was told by someone he did not have the heart to love me. yet he cared. this song is so real. butit hurts

  • i'm sorry... hugs!

  • I don't have the heart to hurt you, It's the last thing I want to do. But I don't have the heart to love you, not the way you want me too.. God! I just wanna cry everytime when I hear that part... ='(

  • @latrixiemae I agree with you 100%! That brother can blow!

  • thank you james ingram for making such beautiful music that will last forever

  • This is one of those many songs that U might Not like but then when U get older you start looking back and really appreciate it!!

Such is the case for me w/this tune, though probably the biggest reason I like this tune is cause it was popular during the BEST times in my life(90-92era).
