After losing my boxer of 12 years almost 2 years ago, I watched this video a couple times before I decided on getting a Boston Terrier a few months ago, and I couldn't be more happy with that decision, her names Gizmo haha cause she's a "gremlin"
Thank you for your reply. Most of my Boston's (over the past 20+ years) have been raised from puppies. Gracie's been with me just over a year. She is really laid back and loves everyone. She will be 5 in August. She has learned a few hand signals; knows, sit, down, in, out, stay; so I think we'll be able to do obedience class in a breeze. I'm going to look for a class close by so we can get started. Wishing you & your Gracie the best, From another Gracie and her Mom.
She's great! I have a "Gracie" Boston also. Is she assistance certified or did you teach her as a trick? I use a wheelchair and would be great to train my Gracie. Then she could even fly with me. Any tips?
The best place to start is to take your BT to a obedience class that uses positive techniques for training. See how she is to train . Make sure your Gracie can handle crowds, dealing with weird people and children. The service dog tasks are taught the same way tricks are. There are people that can help guide you in training your own service dog but it takes commitment. You can find much info on service dogs on Dogster.com in the service dog forum.
@Shaea15 they are! i grew up with one. her name was trixie and i trained her using lil treats and froot loops. taught her tricks in english and french. and it was soooo easy. i plan on doing the same with my current pup Xa ... minus the froot loops though. lol
Go Gracie! My last 4 dogs were boxers, all lived to about 10-11 years, but I'm ready for a small dog and bostons look like shrinky dink boxers. It takes an extremely patient and loving owner to train a dog this way. Great job crazie! Gracie is adorable.
Yeon you are seriously mistaken and apparently do not know much about this amazing breed. They are very smart and learn very quickly. They are however stubborn at times but this should not be mistaken for stupidity. They are strong-minded and strong-willed, very intelligent, fun, loving, and playful. They are like little people and one of the best breeds in the world.

@craziedogladie I agree to an extent. Our family has had loads of BTs over the years, ever since I was a kid. One of them in particular was an absolute genius. I swear he was probably more intelligent than me. Towards the end we got another one who was much younger. I've found that the 'leader' if you have more than one tends to express intelligence more than the submissive one, who was always an idiot. After the first one died, the second one has matured a lot.
@haku8645 I agree, they are an extremely intelligent breed of dog. Had two that were hyper and very smart, yet the one we have now is very lazy but brilliant!
I love this video. i also have a female Boston. but im having a trouble training her to go outside instead of her lil kennel at night. shes outside all day freely. do you have any suggestions? i dont want to give up on her.
i love bostons, they are the best! I have a boston terrier and a boxer, they're both so cool, wouldn't trade them for all the money in the world!!! Great video!!!
I have this vid on my BT playlist and keep coming back to watch it again and again! Boston Terriers are so smart and loving and loyal, I just adore them - Gracie just loves to help out and she is a real credit to you :)
Gracie is adorable. There is something so special about Bostons.....we had PJ our Boston but she passed away in 2005, still miss her. She looked alot like Gracie. Thanks for sharing. Pattie
haha so cute but be careful when they breath really hard n get overheated they throw up mucus and can die from inhalin it, almost happened to my baby boston ... amazin dog though
BT's are the best. I have 2. One is a senior, and one is our star pup. My little girl taught her how to count and do basic addition. Click on my name to see it. I'll post the math one as soon as I get my camera to cooperate!
She is a doll. What a good little girl - so beautiful and smart as a whip. You are lucky to have her and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Gracie rules!
We had a boxer who could close doors too, it was really crazy. We don't know how he learned how to do it, cause no one really taught him. We just said go close the door and he did it. :)
Sophie my boston looks exactly the same and I think has the same collar. But she is in know way as well behaved, or as useful your dog. But I love her anyway.
my sister has one and hes the sweetest dog ever but the first two years of having him he was the hardest to train, he would run dodge out the door and he would bite your feet and shit on the floor.. after that two year mark he was and still is the best sweetest dog and i recommend those types of dogs for anyone but it is a tough process in the beginning
My parents had a girl for 16 years. My wife and I have a 12 yr old Golden and we always wonder what our next dog/dogs would be. We may want something a litle easier to maintain than the Golden (we love ours now, don't get me wrong). Boston's are great dogs and we're leaning that way. This video was very funny and what a beautiful dog.
My Boston can: sit, turn, lay down, and reach(where she puts her paws up in the air). And that's about it. But she understands just about everything. "bath" "outside" "treat" "food" "eat", etc. And we got to where we spelt everything out in front of her, but she's gotten to where she understands that, too.

But The Boston Terriers (and I've had a few) have been the smartest!

@haku8645 It depends on the bloodlines and your particular dog. Some are smarter than others. Of course the older they get, the more wise a dog gets.
Mine have tended to be very smart. Gracie is smart but she is NOT my smartest Boston.
