It's a way to exploit a game, but at a low price for each episode, which might end up being a big price in the long-run.

Unleashed is what Sonic should be like in 3D from now on. That game has the best 3D Sonic gameplay to date. SA1 and 2 were great games (the Sonic/Shadow parts) but Unleashed hit the nail on the head and I would rather they kept with that format rather than going back to strictly 2D. Unleashed with HD cartoon-like presentation would seriously own.

It's called Project Needlemouse because SEGA is returning to its roots and in the pre-production phase of Sonic The Hedgehog (1991) he was originally intended to be called Mr. Needlemouse.
All the new sonics were stupid, except for the ones on the Dreamcast, those were alright. If they make an oldschool styled Sonic game in complete HD, that will be awesome epic!! The old Sega Genesis Sonic games were the best, always will be. To take the old ones and just beef up the graphics will kick ass! =D
I've never played it, but the old Sonic games like Sonic and Knuckles are what I think of when I think of the Sonic series. I've seen lots on the game, and I don't think I would be able to get into it very well. It's kind of like the game strips away all that Sonic really was when I was a child.

not necessarily "Sega's last chance" like people are saying, but if it isn't good, they'll catch a lot of shit for it. addressing the image: clearly it's Sonic, because that's the silhouette of the Sonic emblem from the older games, which they used in some recent ones. on top of that, the working title is Needlemouse, which was the same working title they used when they were first thinking up Sonic. a few of the older games were bad, but not all of them.
for me unleashed was their last chance, yet now they tease a classic style game so they have ANOTHER one. none of the classic games that were part of the main series sucked though (1, CD, 2, 3K), while quite a few of newer games that are part of the main series suck serious ass. (heroes, shad, 06)
yes, I have the wii version, and I already have a 360. unleashed HD is not a top priority purchase for me right now. its not that the game isnt fun, it just gets so damn repetitive. oh, and the 2D gameplay is arguably worse than Sonic Genesis on the GBA. I say this because unlike most 2D sonic games, this REALLY IS a hold right fest with a button press or two here and there, and his aerial mobility is atrocious. again, the wii version, but really is it THAT much different from the HD version?
@chickenfetusnarr No, I'm pretty sure it's that the game isn't fun. Sonic Unleashed for the Wii was probably one of the worst games I've ever played. Trust me when I say that the 360 version is a COMPLETLEY different game. Different levels, different controls, and far less werehog, but somehow even the werehog is good on 360, as it gets KOF style combos. It even uses a different engine. The Wii version uses the same engine as Secret Rings and Black Knight., which is why the controsl suck so bad
I actually like the wii version. even THAT is better than heroes, shadow, and 06 in my opinion. one beef i have with the HD version is actually the controls. homing attack on A just makes more sense, and it was a completely unnecessary change. but is the 2D gameplay just as bad in the HD version?
No. 2D gameplay in the HD version is seemless. I actually don't even notice I'm in 2D mode until I've been in it for like 15 seconds. There are still quicktime events but they aren't all that bad. Really, it's a totally different game. Like comparing Sonic 1 to Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
I'm not sure I ever got to a 2D stage in the wii version to tell the truth. I want to say no, because you get quite a bit of mobility in the HD version.
when you jump while running in one direction, can you turn around in midair? you cant in the wii version. if they made an entire game like that, which is not what I'm predicting needlemouse would be (though I wouldnt put something that stupid past sega),it would tank worse than next gen did
In the HD version? Yes. In fact, it takes getting used to just how much control you have. You won't be able to turn around when you're running at full speed or anything but getting out of pits and such isn't difficult.

I'm so excited for this, I nhate to admit but Segas gone down hill fast and is climbing back up slowly. Sonic Unleashed was fun ( couldn't turn well withj WereSonic ) and SatBK looked fun. But both didn't have ( like many didn't ) special childhood feeling of 2D and jumpin on baddies. I really hope this turned out wonderfully so the series can keep going

How can Sonic The HEDGEHOG become Sonic the NEEDLEMOUSE? Two different animals.
It's called Project Needlemouse because SEGA is returning to its roots and in the pre-production phase of Sonic The Hedgehog (1991) he was originally intended to be called Mr. Needlemouse.

All the new sonics were stupid, except for the ones on the Dreamcast, those were alright. If they make an oldschool styled Sonic game in complete HD, that will be awesome epic!! The old Sega Genesis Sonic games were the best, always will be. To take the old ones and just beef up the graphics will kick ass! =D

I've never played it, but the old Sonic games like Sonic and Knuckles are what I think of when I think of the Sonic series. I've seen lots on the game, and I don't think I would be able to get into it very well. It's kind of like the game strips away all that Sonic really was when I was a child.

not necessarily "Sega's last chance" like people are saying, but if it isn't good, they'll catch a lot of shit for it. addressing the image: clearly it's Sonic, because that's the silhouette of the Sonic emblem from the older games, which they used in some recent ones. on top of that, the working title is Needlemouse, which was the same working title they used when they were first thinking up Sonic. a few of the older games were bad, but not all of them.

for me unleashed was their last chance, yet now they tease a classic style game so they have ANOTHER one. none of the classic games that were part of the main series sucked though (1, CD, 2, 3K), while quite a few of newer games that are part of the main series suck serious ass. (heroes, shad, 06)

Unleashed was actually awesome. You probably played the Wii version. The Wii has no games. Get a 360 or PS3, play Unleashed on that, thank me later.

yes, I have the wii version, and I already have a 360. unleashed HD is not a top priority purchase for me right now. its not that the game isnt fun, it just gets so damn repetitive. oh, and the 2D gameplay is arguably worse than Sonic Genesis on the GBA. I say this because unlike most 2D sonic games, this REALLY IS a hold right fest with a button press or two here and there, and his aerial mobility is atrocious. again, the wii version, but really is it THAT much different from the HD version?

@chickenfetusnarr No, I'm pretty sure it's that the game isn't fun. Sonic Unleashed for the Wii was probably one of the worst games I've ever played. Trust me when I say that the 360 version is a COMPLETLEY different game. Different levels, different controls, and far less werehog, but somehow even the werehog is good on 360, as it gets KOF style combos. It even uses a different engine. The Wii version uses the same engine as Secret Rings and Black Knight., which is why the controsl suck so bad

I actually like the wii version. even THAT is better than heroes, shadow, and 06 in my opinion. one beef i have with the HD version is actually the controls. homing attack on A just makes more sense, and it was a completely unnecessary change. but is the 2D gameplay just as bad in the HD version?

No. 2D gameplay in the HD version is seemless. I actually don't even notice I'm in 2D mode until I've been in it for like 15 seconds. There are still quicktime events but they aren't all that bad. Really, it's a totally different game. Like comparing Sonic 1 to Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

I'm not sure I ever got to a 2D stage in the wii version to tell the truth. I want to say no, because you get quite a bit of mobility in the HD version.

when you jump while running in one direction, can you turn around in midair? you cant in the wii version. if they made an entire game like that, which is not what I'm predicting needlemouse would be (though I wouldnt put something that stupid past sega),it would tank worse than next gen did

In the HD version? Yes. In fact, it takes getting used to just how much control you have. You won't be able to turn around when you're running at full speed or anything but getting out of pits and such isn't difficult.

an entire game built from the 2D gameplay of unleashed would be horrible. thank god needlemouse will be 'built from the ground up'. unless thats just sega code for 'something we've already fucking done before'. sega always talks in some kind of code with their announcements. just like how Sonic 2006 was 'back to sonic's roots'.

all u people are retarded, first off every game to come out was good with 06 to possible be the only bad one which was alright to me but glitchy which killed the okay in the game. Heroes was good and Unique shadow was good but dif(dont expect only speed) and riders is good Unleashed was amazingly gud but underrated the 2 wii X's fail 2 me tho

For people who keep saying this is sega's last chance, get a clue. It doesn't matter if the fans hate it or like it. It will still sell because of a new generation of kids and the hype it's already created. Been a Sonic fan since back in the day. Do i like the new games, not quite. But it doesn't matter. Personally I grew up when just Sonic the Hedgehog was out for SEGA Genesis & up until now, I've always thought the Sonic games were always fun & good game to play. Obviously not all of you will agree to what I'm saying but to me every Sonic game is good.... Other than Sonic Heroes & Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) they were OKAY games HAHAH!! :D

Can' t they give the blue bugger a break? There is almost always something in development involving Sonic in some way (usually crap rip-offs of something Mario did the year before).
As for the speed returns part, did they not play the day levels in Sonic Unleashed? Those were pretty fuckin' fast.
As much as I want a good new 2D Sonic, I remain certain SEGA will screw it up. So no point in being optimistic. The bonus to being so pessimistic is if it turns out to be good, I am happier with it.

I'm so excited for this, I nhate to admit but Segas gone down hill fast and is climbing back up slowly. Sonic Unleashed was fun ( couldn't turn well withj WereSonic ) and SatBK looked fun. But both didn't have ( like many didn't ) special childhood feeling of 2D and jumpin on baddies. I really hope this turned out wonderfully so the series can keep going

If this is gonna be a brand new full priced retail game. I honestly think this will be Sega's last chance to stop the series from dieing. The daytime levels in unleashed made be think. OK sega you earned yourself 1 or 2 more chances so dont screw it up
