I mainly listened to all genres of music relating to classic rock from the ages of about 6-13, mainly because of the influence of my father. Van Halen was always my absolute favorite though, especially because of Eddie and his absolutely god-like talent.. I'm almost 18 now and although my taste in music has completely changed, there will never be a time where I won't come back to things like "Live Without A Net" and be absolutely astounded. The co-influence can be heard between Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen since both their bands played together often. Jimi Hendrix does not need an explanation for his talents. You dramatically underestimate Jimi.

Quiet Riot was GLAM METAL. Thats why Randy left them and invented Ozzy Osbournes career. Carlos Cavazo is another guy that played better than EVH before EVH. EVH just got more publicity because of DLR's phenomenal frontman skills. Read about the early pioneers of the guitar then come back here. I have you totally outclassed.

Do you play guitar? Any Van Halen solo is amazingly easy to play. Try playing "Flying in a Blue Dream." I'll give you a year to learn it and record it. Good Luck my friend.

That can be proven by measuring Eddies success rate since both of those guys have left the band. Vito Bratta, Carlos Cavazo, Vivian Campbell, Vinnie Vincent and George Lynch (just to name a few) are all better than Eddie. They just didnt have the powerful frontmen to make them famous.

@Aodhanhendrix1 his amplifier is on delay on 9, he's turning his volume up down between 0 and 5. and just hitting the frets like 2 and 4 and moving up the scale. its pretty easy if you think about it. hope this helps but check out my channel and videos. all his solos are pretty easy to play.:)

They often opened for Van Halen in several L.A. clubs including the Starwood and KROQ's "Cabaret" nightclub, before either act had a record deal. The co-influence can be heard between Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen since both their bands played together often. Jimi Hendrix does not need an explanation for his talents. Quiet Riot was GLAM METAL. Thats why Randy left them and invented Ozzy Osbournes career. Carlos Cavazo is another guy that played better than EVH before EVH. EVH just got more publicity because of DLR's phenomenal frontman skills. Read about the early pioneers of the guitar then come back here. I have you totally outclassed.

I have said it 100 times - "He is not that damn good!!" There are dozens of 80's era guitarists that were as good as or even better than EVH. My favorites being Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, but the list could go on forever. EVH is supposed to be the best guitarist ever, yet he only has one instrumental solo in over 30 years. Only ONE!!!!!!

One of Joe's classic ballads "Rubina" is 10 times harder to play than any Van Halen solo.

Jimi Hendrix had already started two finger tapping before Eddie was around, Randy Rhoads had introduced arpeggios, sweeping, hammer ons, pull offs and much more. Jimi died, Randy died, Eddie copied them and got all the credit. Regardless of all that, EDDIE ONLY HAS ONE GUITAR SOLO!!! ONE!!

@mxr80 I understand that David Lee Roth is the only reason you even know Eddies name. Sammy Hagar is the only reason Eddie was relevant in the 80's and 90's. That can be proven by measuring Eddies success rate since both of those guys have left the band. Vito Bratta, Carlos Cavazo, Vivian Campbell, Vinnie Vincent and George Lynch (just to name a few) are all better than Eddie. They just didnt have the powerful frontmen to make them famous.

@vSupaSonic2051 I do both - watch many videos, both good and bad, and occasionally read and comment on a few, but I don't "defend" any favs from "harm" by sneeringly calling for the deaths of "nigger fags" as many generic (male) fans of most any (male) idols here do. These men walk amongst you in the real world and I feel thats important to know. You know any idolators who behave this way - eager to hurt and maim for their idol a la Islamist warrior over a stale guitar solo? Thats an issue to me

We all signed our names under youtubes ToS, agreeing to keep discussion sane and normal. I can do that easily.
