  • About the Soko vs Mousasi fight & thinking it would be a cakewalk for Mousasi: He seems to have performed best against his most difficult opponents. Wins over Lil Nog & Arona and he gave both Machida and Mousasi tough fights.

Soko's been fighting for 4 years now and still looks extremely raw. With his strength, standup, power and level of Judo, he only needs to learn how to stay in top control while not getting subbed and some basic gnp to be one of the better LHW's IMO.

  • im glad im not the only one that feels that way when fedor fights. my heart beats like CRAZY when he fights!!!

  • Nice video I too had the same impression after seeing the fight for the first time. After watching it another 5 or so times. Things looked different. Rogers was real tentative, reopened a recent cut, was basically trying to stall the whole time by jabbing on the outside, leaning and holding on the cage, doing nothing. That gnp looked worse than it was, he got in couple of glancing shots, out 8. He could barelly get up after that, he was gassed, lol. Fedor held the edge 9-1 in power punches.

  • I am the first one to give props to Brett Rogers, but seriously I don't understand by which logic 1st round could be even draw let alone given to Brett.

Fedor dominated, was aggressor, almost KOed him with left hook, was throwing him down, 3 submission attempts and bell saved Brett, he was TOTALLY gassed out.

The only thing I give to Brett is that one GnP but thats it, nothing more in that match considering he hit Fedor 3 times in groin in clinch one time very hard :/

    Still respect to Rogers.

  • After watching the fight two more times I have to agree with you that there would be no logic in giving the first round to Rogers. I think the fact that he did much better than anyone expected him to; landed a few big shots and got right up after the takedown, caused people to give him much more credit for what little he actually did.

After the shock wore off and I watched the fight again I'll say that you'd have to be crazy, biased or caught up in the moment to give Rogers that round.

  • "I think the fact that he did much better than anyone expected him to; landed a few big shots and got right up after the takedown, caused people to give him much more credit for what little he actually did."

    EXACTLY! BINGO! :D

That is exactly what I wanted to add in my comment, but due to my bad English I couldn't come up with it at the moment :D

I am glad you agree and overall very awesome preview! ;)

  • the reason fedor got ground and pound was because he was going for the armbarn. and he did catch rogers arm. fedor deserve credicts right there also. but the damm cage save rogers. but its ok because if it ended like that then stupid fans would be like oh fedor almost got knock out but he did a lucky submission. im glad fedor beat rogers in his own game to shut up these ufc kid.

  • EXACTLY! very good reasoning!!! :) I am happy that he KOed him and beaten him in both ground and his own game, so disrepsectful Dana White and many of his disrespectful UFC fans shut up their disrespectful arrogant ABSURD and ridiculous mouths.

  • Fedor got rolled when he was going for a Kimura and I'm sure he was awarded points for the sub attempt. Rogers was awarded points for the reversal. So the question is which should be valued higher? The guy going for the submission and putting himself in danger or the defensive fighter who was put in danger and reacted to it? Should a failed sub attempt be scored like a failed takedown attempt or should it be scored higher since it's a fight ending move? Throw worth more than a double-leg?

  • Rogers kept repeating "Fuck man" and "Never Again". So they cut sound I guess to be safe.

  • looool i luv ur Brett Rogers scream at 3:06....fucking funny still laughing. Im gonna he screamed: gyoahhh I got Knocked the f*** out!!!

  • lol im not sure what your talking bout donnie :P

  • True. He was the underdog when he fought Nogueira for the belt in 2003, and people were shocked when he won. I think that was the last time he was the underdog though.

  • That was a brutal beatdown, fedor at his best. Nog was a great partner being able to take such punishment, was amazing to see. A real classic. You don't see fights like that anymore.

  • Rogers was cussing. Probably something like "Mother fucking son of a bitch!! Jesus fucking Christ, fuck me!!! It was on network TV so it was censored, which is why there was no sound at the time.

  • Ah, thanks. My sound had cut out once at the beginning and then a couple of times at the end, so I thought it was just another sound problem I had with my download.

  • Also judging from this fight i do think Fedor has the "MIKE TYSON" effect where people are afraid of him, gives in to the mind games and loses before they actually get in the ring or cage but what happens if fedor's opponents doesn't give in to his mind games, is Fedor really that good, is he really the best?

    {ANY constructed answers welcomed :) }

  • In all fairness, Fedor had to run through an impressive list of quality opponents before he attained the mystique that surrounds him today. Before he was considered to be this unbeatable cyborg he wasn't considered anything more than another fighter working his way up the ladder, and he was still running through everyone he faced.

  • @chase169

Fedor is really known for his calm demeanor. Thats what gets in peoples heads. Before the fight, during the fight, his demeanor never changes- hence the "cyborg" references. Hes a calculated dude, and never seems to panic when things get sketchy for him.

  • fedor was all fight very relaxed and he is very honest man so he said after fight that there wasnt single case were he was under any danger.that talks a lot. second he take and piunched down rogers 3 times and his game plan was just sutdie rogers in 1 round!so he said after that as he studied his foot work so he was abile land that devasting tyson like punch to rogers!he is as good in stund upas in ground!he has enermous chin he even didnt move after rogers punch to the face!so who can win him?

  • Is he really the best? Compare any fighter to fedor's undefeated record consisting of 31 wins, and you'll see how far ahead of everyone he really is.

  • Hey man, loved the vid. This was an interesting fight, Fedor was impressive but Brett Roger was more impressive (who woulda thunk it...HEHE). Fedor also seemed to have problems fighting in a cage and honestly his striking needs to improve, i mean he practically ran in to Roger's jab and broke his nose lol (if he was fighting Anderson Silva or Vitor Belfort he have some Really big problems) and yeah i was also shocked at how Rogers got back up, i thought fedor would have Submitted him there.

  • Are you ok? Are you telling fedor needs to improve his striking after outrstriking and demolishing a 270 6-5 guy with all 10 wins by ko. Fedor is too much for silva and vitor, on his worst day. Silva being same size as fedor, prefers to fight middleweights, enough said.

  • LMAO When Shamrock said Sokobju every commentator got quiet you could just feel the awkwardness

  • I think everyone was collectively scratching their heads at that point.

  • Good fight review I can tell you have an IQ above 50 unlike most prepuberty schmucks on youtube.

You have some good unbiased views, good report.

    Jason Miller got ROBBED!

  • I wish brett rogers was more gracious in his defeat and i didn't like how they took the mic off fedor when he wanted to speak more at the end, good fight though

  • I think that was more of an issue with Fedor's translator. She was hesitating a lot and it gave the impression that she couldn't figure out how to translate what he said and was making some things up.

Yeah, Roger's should have handled the loss better instead of coming out and basically saying that he only lost because he wasn't throwing enough. Just admit the better man won and soldier on.

  • That bloody nose blew my mind. Ya, the real crazies are the ones who say it was one sided for Fedor first round. That punch was huge. I listened to it, hard to make out but sounded like "He tried to take that ruby away from me" twice, right before they talked to him and finished with Fedor. I enjoyed Shields/Miller for what it was. Werdum made an awesome recovery. Like you said, great night of fights.

  • When Rogers got dominate position on the ground and started dropping those bombs my jaw dropped.

  • It was one-sided for Fedor in the first round. I'm not saying Rogers didn't have a good showing but I think you would have to be crazy to give that round to Rogers.

Rogers cut fedor on a jab on the very first punch, and landed about three shots from GnP, and that was pretty much the only thing the entire first round, the entire fight in fact. And he only got position on fedor because he was going for a submission. He only hit those GnP shots too because Fedor was going for an armbar.

  • Precisely, Rogers had a left jab which reopened an old cut and in the GnP only 3 hits actually connected which Fedor let him do, cause he wanted to lure him into an armbar, rest of the time, Rogers was just pushing him up against the cage.Thats it!

Fedor was owning the stand-up landing big hits/takedowns/kimura attempt/armbar attempt/ground-control and finally the KO/TKO...lights out, dominated and schooled!

  • I think he was swearing, cuz every vid i've seen it does the same.

  • I don't get why they were trying to keep bringing up a rematch!!! He won't get one anytime soon, nor would the fight be any different.

  • It's probably because Rogers did so much better than anyone expected him to, so immediately everyone starts thinking about a rematch. Strikeforece needs to make Fedor/Overeem happen!

  • Ya he lasted a round longer then i thought he'd would. I don't think Werdum stands a chance against Fedor. in my opinion, Werdum's victory over Silva wasn't that impressive. I think they'll make Fedor and Overeem happen. Overeem doesn't deserve the belt! he's waiting over seas until the steroids are out of his system.

  • nice one!
