I've had several fights wearing the mcgirt gloves which u have on the bed. My old coach had a pair of blue and red ones depending on the corner I was in. Nice gloves, very top heavy, no weight on the wrist. I'm wearing them in my compilation kickboxing fights.
@mackempaul Yes...I like those as well...had to buy them new as that was the only way I could get hold of a pair. There the only pair that I have like that in that colour.
@xxMidgetxxJL The Cleto reyes are quite soft but become quite hard when you have your hands wrapped in them (like most gloves). I have not come across Winnings here in the UK yet...nor Grants or Flores. I have 10 pairs because I like all the colours...also I like to have the full set to go with my collection.
@skinheadboxxer Unfortunately I have now got a problem with youtube...my password does not work...this means that I cannot upload any more vids from my latest camera which has an uploader which calls for the password...it did work at first... I do not recall changing it...I am considering wiping the whole lot off and starting off fresh. Dam nuisance really as I wanted to make more vids.
well, I also dont do all of these things but practice thai boxing in my private gym and spent a good token of funds to purchase the heavy bag and the mitts (no everlats or some other top brand, just pretty good ones). So I just recalculated how much this collection may cost in $ :)
@mfcgangster The collection has been going on for years..infact since Novenber 1989...I haven't bought them all in one go! - I buy a pair every now and then when I am in a particular mood. When I do - I make a day out of it at the same time. I will make an update video of this when I get the chance....as the collection keeps growing. It's hard to say exactly how much as they are not all bran new...some are 2nd hand, but I reckon about £1K.
@mfcgangster Oh yeah...I use them sometimes...I use difererent weights...sometimes I go for the 16oz and other times I go for the 10oz. I have 8oz's as well but find them a bit small and a bit too light but if I'd a being a pro I would have had to probably get used to them in a ring!
dude really nice boxing gloves collection indeed!! I am collecting gloves here too. Gloves with laces are really nice! I wish to see some more vids about the gloves later on!
@canook33 Yeah OK...It won't be for a while yet as I'm so busy...I am planning to make an updated version of this vid - the collection has grown a bit more since I made this vid 'bout 2 years ago. I am also considering doing a vid of my scrap book which contains boxing pictures that I used to collect from years back from newspapers & mags - including a newspaper article on tennis player John Mcenroe boxing for charity...dating back to 1988.
Not sure hard to tell...I have 2 pairs of those...I guessing 1950ish...but on the other hand I could be totally wrong and they might have been made more recently than that....one of the pairs I had given to me - so I'm not complaining!
I couldn't tell ya whether grants are better than reyes because grants (as far as I know) aren't sold in my country at the moment. So I haven't bought any grant pairs yet but I did look at their website and if I buy any I'll let ya know.
Well I have small hands and they fit me nice and smug (without the hand wraps)...one of the worst gloves for fit (in my opinion) are the old 'Top Ten' amatuer gloves that I have - don't know if the latest ones are any better.
Nice collection, I have a question. I just bought a pair of Triumph United gloves, and after sparring I was taking the tape off around the laces and doing so some of the paint came off towards the inside of the glove. Should I be worried that these gloves are going to fall apart on me, or is that normal?
I have never taped any of my gloves so I don't know about that...the gloves that I have worn in the past for sparring have either velcro or elasticated wrist which is why I've not used tape.
I have 3 pairs of old boxing gloves...I don't have any history on them so it's hard to say how old they are...but I'm lead to believe their about 1950ish.
Haha! Awesome! I thought I was the only one...God only knows how many I actually have, and I had to get rid of some when I moved...but I have a rather large collection myself that started with my first pair at 8, and then collected all the way 'til I was 11.
I have all kinds, toy gloves, keychain gloves, antique gloves, signed gloves (both personally signed and bought), professional gloves, training gloves, etc. And an even bigger assload of boxing memorabilia on top of all that.
I bought my first pair in Nov, 1989. I didn't plan on making a collection at the time but by the mid 90's I'd allready had about 15 pairs by then I started boxing training at a local gym. For about next 4 years while I was in training I didn't collect any more. Then in 2004 after my dad died of cancer I started collecting again and now have about 50 pairs.
Anyone know where to get Florex Boxing gloves? They are supposedly made by Dan Mosby out of Lodi CA now but I can't seem to find a way to contact him.
I'm sorry I've no idea at present where you can get florex boxing gloves from. As far as I know you certainly won't get them here in Britain! But if I find out I will let you know.
Hey Scotch, Dan Mosby only gives out his email address and I'm in the process of sending him a message right now. He has a reputation of taking a very long time responding so we'll see. I'll ask him if I can give out his email adress and get back to you.
I have 35 pairs of boxing gloves; Reyes, Everlast, Shevlin, Flores and many others.
So, no, you are not alone in collecting boxing gloves! I store them in those large tupperware-type containers made for the garage. Put some type of dessicant packs in there to absorb any moisture, or you'll get mold.
Ive collected Boxing Gloves for 35 years, hundreds of Gloves, Some Jack Dempsey wore, Have one pair of Gloves signed by 37 World Champions. Plus Trophys, Robes, Head Gear, Trunks,Gloves from 1905, with original laces. Some are Blood splattered.Have practically every pair of Boxing Gloves that were ever made.Finding History on Boxing gloves is very hard.Have a small fortune in my collection.. mifi456 2 years ago
Oh...there very comfortable...it's just that they are the most expensive out of my whole collection so I would rather not spoil them on a punch bag.
scotch491 2 years ago
but would they last on the heavy bag and mitts and sparring for at least two years
mifi456 2 years ago
are the cleto reyes lace up training gloves very durable like many people say????
mifi456 2 years ago
Certainly one of the best so far...although I personally would'nt use them for punch bag use.
