I feel sorry for people that dont get that calvinism & arminianism are doctrines of man. why? because the bible is not clear. it will never be clear this side of heaven. the people that labor over one position or another will only cause strife and division.
The bible also says, many are called but few are chosen. This is because only a few ANSWER the call. But are receive a call from God, but only few heed his call. He did forsee who would answer his call, but to those who do, he declares righteous. Now they have the power to become the Son's of God. No one is born predetermined to salvation and another not. God would not be equitable if that were so. But all are born with the opportunity for salvation. He died for all not just for the "elect"..
The Bible teaches from two perspectives man's perspective and God's perspective, man's perspective is repent and believe unto Salvation. When someone believes then they see from God's perspective why they believe, because He chose them before time ever began to believe. We are to preach the gospel to all men,and God will call His elect out of the world with His word.
Tough subject, but we go to the Bible for clarity on all scripture. Calvinism can be a bad word, not because the doctrines taught are not in scripture, but because many equate born again Christianity to Calvinism. I follow Jesus Christ and the Bible: if the scripture talks about election, predestination, and God's righteousness, I believe it;if someone wants to call me Calvinist, I can't stop them, but I'd rather be known as a follower of Christ first before a follower of a follower of Christ.
Greg Laurie can't reconcile the paradox (an apparent contradiction, but which can be reconciled upon further investigation) between the "general call" of the gospel (which is the COMMAND for everyone to repent and believe), and the "effectual call" which is only efficacious for the elect?
In other words, "the Bible has irreconcilable contradictions"?
I don't accept that fallacy; God is not irrational!
God's doctrine's are logical, reasonable, and rational...they are DIVINE!

But what about what paul says about Gods Desire for all to be saved, and and when paul speaks of predestination, He is speaking of thoses He forenew, but God, being God obiviously forenew all of creation, the elect are those who are in Christ and confess this in there faith, and are overcomers of the "World" which will reign with Christ in His 2nd coming
All have sinned and greatly offended the holy God of the bible. The just punishment is death then hell. That's not Gods will. He suffered and died on the cross paying for the law you broke in His life's blood so He could legally dismiss your case. You must repent turn from your sin and trust alone in Jesus Christ for your salvation.
