  • You can download this show from the blog link on my channel.

  • So wonderful & magic..I love this man.

  • @nebeskioganj Nailed it on the head. And they did the sample justice with a great song:)

  • @UndyingBorracho

It's groups like CunninLynguists that keep me listening to hip hop. I'm fairly certain it was something my dad would have appreciated. He used to talk about how they "rapped" as kids, in Houston, and that it was "nothing new".

I hope it's artists like him that keep people listening to acoustic music. I say "acoustic" because I, like everybody else who has tried, am at a loss when it comes to categorizing his style.

  • if you ever would have sat and talked with him you would have been soooo blown away... his family is awesome and he took me under his wing like i was one of his own... i loved sitting with him in his room towards the end with his daughter and him singing his songs. he was very special to me!

  • This dude is for real, I love the smoky voice. If it wasn't for a hip hop song I would never have discovered him..thanks for the vids Johnny

  • @UndyingBorracho No problem

  • @UndyingBorracho CunninLynguists - Georgia i bet this is the song u discovered Mickey :)

  • There is no one like Mickey. Chris K. said, Mikey was the one who inspired him to write his famous songs. For a real treat, get the album, "Live from Montezuma Hall". There is a song called Bugger Red that will crack you up every time you hear it. Also on that same dvd is a song "to Monica" that is equally funny. He guy was a genius and didn't even know it.

  • There is and never will be anyone like Newbury. I bought his whole collection. You should hear his song about "Bugger Red". It is so funny. He is one of the greatest. He is singing for the Lord now.

  • he sang his demons away... but puts on me. I'll be torn up for the rest of this day and maybe tomorrow... when they wear off I'll play some more

  • Anybody who can appreciate this should also listen to Ella Fitzgerald's version. It's just beautiful.

  • Adds an entirely new realm of meaning for the song.

  • fuck! this guys just stabbed my soul so fuckin' hard.. UNREAL!! BEAUTIFUL

  • Holy Shit!!! This is the most powerful music I've ever heard....bar none!!! I dicovered Mickey for the first time this eve and keep looking up songs....each one blows me away more than the last.... This guy is everything I've tried to be as a singer/songwriter....I can't believe I've never heard him before!!!!!

    Mickey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ...this guy blows my mind!!!!

  • We don't know what we have until we loose it.

  • MIckey sings every song as though he lived it. He was a true singer.

  • Sung from the depth of his soul. He made every song his own.

  • He turns a normally upbeat song into an overnight stay at a motel on the outskirts of

Hell. Dear god, this is powerful stuff.

  • hahaha... how profoundly observed!!!!

    AMEN Brother!

  • He sang his demons away.

  • @BERSERKERpoetry
