I'm sorry i just MUST ask this of you Americans!!.. Wherever i look on TV, you guys ALWAYS have HUGE pieces of meat! In the UK we don't, meat is in the low kilo's in weight but when i saw this video.. well i've never seen a piece of cow that big apart from when it's still on a living animal... Is the USA really THAT cheap for meat? I'm just curious.. how much would that piece of meat actually cost you guys!!???? I really must get over there.. i'd come back fat but sooooo happy :)))
@motormusic1 LOL !!! Its true living and eating in the U.S. is a quick way if u're not careful to become fat... But to answer your question estimated about $15-$18 in the grocery store to purchase a size like that so almost $20 if not the whole $20 ! ... :) Happy Trails
@SAHDARY good grief! that is very cheap. I just paid about the same, £11 and for that i got 1.5kilos and that was at a proper butchers! Your first sentence was interesting, i always imagined that life would be easy in the US because of the choice, but i guess it's a temptation nightmare. I've just finished all Man Vs Food and i'd love to jump on a plane and visit every single place on there lol
@motormusic1 I LUVVVVVVVVVV MAN VS. FOOD ... BUT MAN~O~MAN I CAN'T SEE HOW HE CAN EAT ALL THATTTT FOOD !! and not get sick each time !!!! i wonder if he had a girlfriend lol eating like that !
Cool video. I've always brined right in the brine pot but that looks cool in the bag. Thanks for all that, the recipe and the directions were very clear.
What kind of meat are you using? I usually buy it premade from the butcher and this is interesting to me!! Plus my Grandma was from SB, well Granger..actually:)
this actually sucks because it says at the end of the video, that you go to this guy's blog at South Bend Tribune to get the recipe and see the progress and that is the part I wanted to see, and it's not there. Gee, if you're going to post a recipe and cook something, at least do us all the favor of posting the entire thing.

Please reduce salt. I tried this, and corned beef was too salty. I guess you can reduce salt to half cup or 3/4cup. I'll try with 1/2cup this week.
