  • yessss

  • very good

  • My right ear feels left out

  • this is so sick!

  • Kick ass. Love it.

  • i always liked open e, but my guitars built in 1924 and it starts to creak and groan when the strings are too tight, so i pretty much stick to open d or c

  • @orilliajunction Very cool, I have a 1903 Gibson L3 awaiting a neck reset possibly because I went up to E allot... This tune is in D, cheers

  • @orilliajunction You know you can tune it down to D also. I have started to do that cause it became expensive with strings that went boom.

  • was wondering what is being used as slide here, i been using lapdog since day one but would like to find a decent glass slide also-- nice playin

  • @orilliajunction It's a thick wall heavy glass slide that was hand blown and broke shortly after making this... Any thick wall slide is good and I often use brass as well.... Thanks, glad you like it.

  • it's videos like this that inspire me to keep playing slide. i'm not great right now, i haven't been doing it long. my tele has action high as hell for sliding, (tuned to aaeeaa) but i'll find my flavour soon. just need more practice and more inspiration.

  • @Schpudd There is a lesson vid for this on my page... Slide is difficult to master but overall simple as compared to non slide playing.... Tuning on this was an open D chord and I use lots of open E as well... take a look at the lesson vid on my page for more detail on that and thanks for watching, cheers

  • what do you tune to?

  • @0991Dizzy An open D chord, check the lesson vid on my page... thanks:)

  • dude the action looks high as hell on that guitar. LOL

  • @515742617000027 I have a nut extender on it to crank it to lap Dobro like action... So it is as high as at looks, thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @ardentoctopus how much does one of those nut extenders cost? like $5?

  • incredible

  • How come audio is only coming out of my Left Headphone on this video?

  • hey guy

    you learned right,

I'm happy now, because now I know, I'm a great teacher

    RoflMao

  • Nice work brother. This is going on my Harley playlist, and my football pre game list.

  • ✯ ✯ ✯ ♥ Gosh...your guitar play is way cool ♥ ✯ ✯ ✯

  • 803 people cant play guitar...

  • there r a few techniques I picked up while playing along to your video thanks man! Keepin the blues alive!

  • ...btw, how the hell did you get so many views?? Thats fantastic! I need to know your secret, to get some more views on my music.. ;-)

  • @kspocover If I knew it would be seen by more then 3 people I would have practised and would never have felt it was good enough to post.... No secret, I guess it struck a chord:) Thanks... Liked your stuff, you have more views now:) cheers

  • @ardentoctopus

I bet most of those views are people raping the replay button.

I would LOVE if you could maybe to a longer version and or a bunch of other ones like this. I just can't stop listening to it. I'll probably have trouble sleeping with this stuck in my head all night. Great job. :P

  • @kspocover you just have to be AWESOME to get 2 millions views, that's it

  • Great. im inspired :-)

  • has a nice swampish blues feel that i do so desire

  • this is good blues!

  • WOWZER, I would LOVE to play like this! You have such a sweet, sweet sound.

Thanks for this post, it inspires me to practice more.

  • i like that type of slide blues music! good work! cheers !

  • nice sounds man. Love it if it was a bit louder though. I recently started playing slide guitar and I really enjoy the sound of it. found this vid just browsing though, glad I did. Keep it up bro sounds good.

  • is it just me or is this song only playing out of one side of my speakers/?

dont matter 1 speaker or 100 of them this is a awesome jam!

  • Love it. I made a video like this once too. The only difference was mine was shite.

  • i have been watching this for a few years its a good thing to listen to randomly i like it

  • Awesome!

  • yes

  • GREAT!!!

  • Love the vid very unique!

  • This is really great!

  • Is your name Robert Johnson? Did you sell your soul to the Devil or what? Great job mate...

  • Beautiful Music! :D I'm more of the type who likes Rock (cuz I'm a rocker) but this is amazing!

  • @gummybearzluver89 Thanks brotha, some days I'm a Rocker too., cheers.

  • @ardentoctopus You're welcome! :) Versatile! :D And haha, I'm a girl, actually.....but it's cool :)

  • @gummybearzluver89 Great Stuff

  • @katiera011

    <3

  • @gummybearzluver89

wanna know why u like it? guess where rocknroll came from :)

  • @GAHNAH

    Haha, yeah... I know ^^

  • hey man good playing,i've just decided to take up the slide,it sounds amazing, the film crossroads inspired me years ago,but never had much time until now,i'm fed up with the chord playing all the time, and the metal playing(although i do love metal),but blues is friggin awsome

  • @geminidragon1976 Good to be diverse, strangely enough my band does no blues, cheers:)

  • Thats so fuckin cool! thanx bub

  • QUE SONZEIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.BOM PRA CARALHO!!!!!!!!!

  • A working definition of "shit hot and smokin"!....

  • @drvrdug Based on your occupation I only hope you were not at work while commenting... and, thanks:)

  • Every time I watch this it makes me realize how much I suck at guitar....Always keep coming back to this video though. Just has that sweetest slide sound.

  • @ausdude31 Thanks very much indeed, I also suck at guitar except for when doing the things I do best, put your best foot forward and play the fuck out of it!... I mean if ya feel like it, lol

  • I listen to this when I roll up on my horse

  • @Dmasterman Probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me:)

  • I am jealous of your finger-picking ability :p

  • Really nice tune! i'd like to be able to do this myself :D could yyou tell us the tunning that you'r using? or better a lesson :D

  • u got the blues dude

  • cool playing

  • i was curious as to how you raised your strings so high off of the neck? Yeah i know its a rather stupid question, but i want to know how, before i go messing around with my guitar haha

  • @tschrenk1 With a nut extender, about $7.00 ... slips over the existing nut with the strings loosened, basically turns any guitar into A Dobro, sorta:) Thanks...

  • @ardentoctopus thanks! i'll have to try and find one. i'm sick of the annoying accidental hitting of the frets while playing slide haha.

and this sounds amazing, by the way!

  • @tschrenk1 yup, that will fix it... Downside, no more fretting notes. I took the nut extender off that Yamaha after about 30 years but the action did not go down much... any old guitar that a sane person would trash will work great as well, cheers

  • @ardentoctopus yeah, i've got an old guitar that doesn't get played much anymore, so it's perfect for this!

  • @ardentoctopus

would it work with a fender strat?

  • @Guitarvirtuoso666 It will work fine once you get set up, alternate tunings take more effort with a trem... but aby guitar will work,,, fixed bridge would be easier... good luck

  • remember I watched this one long time ago,, got me buying a slide.

  • @Ccbroo I'm still waiting for my check from Dunlop, lol... and thanks

  • yeahhh ,now i need wiskey and old rusty pick up in old western town, amazing!

  • This is probably the only thing that Chuk Norris is affraid of .....

    Awsome!

  • yea, thanks, its good to have a smooth track on your side on the road.

I should check if you're on myspace. keep it on

  • hey you'd mind if i put that track into my car??

  • @Frunksta No prob... and we have an album available on iTunes as well:) Ardent Octopus Ardent Octopus

  • ok 802 peeps just pushed the wrong button :D

  • i wanna know how you mounted a cam 2 ur head stock??? plz tell me?

  • @markdocker Laying the guitar flat on it's back I gently placed the cam it on the headstock and tied it down with the umbilical chord of a small mammal..

  • @ardentoctopus Hah! umbilical chord :L

  • @ardentoctopus Genious reply, top playing aswell.

  • @ardentoctopus OMG!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA

  • Man that was the FREAKING BOMB Diggity. WOW. In complete awe of your skills bro. You should do a tutorial on this style. I have never even considered learning this but not it is on. I am going to buy a slide or make one tomorrow. Sure I have a long road ahead of me but have to try after seeing this. Your amazing man. 2 thumbs up.

  • I LOVE THIS TUNE!!!! i want to play like this soo bad, you sir are a legend, when i think of blues this is the type of thing i think of. i havnt seen/heard anything else sound this good and i like robert johnson.

  • oh you know....just some slide.....love this shit, as well as anyone who plays an instrument instead of a machine

  • @jff0002 I'll admit the stuff with my band incorporates a few machines but our goal is still organic:) Thank you for the kind words.

  • This was great... I like the slide.... Mudman1959

  • Great song Steve, Thx, Jimi

  • wow how far apart are the strings from the fretboard :s

  • @Chi47761243 about 1/4'" TY... just as long as you don"t hit the frets it need not be exact.

  • @ardentoctopus i bet you can stop bullets with your fingers

  • i dont understand why my guitar sounds so bad when i even try to play simple slide stuff on it. maybe i have the wrong type of slide?

  • 0:44 ''It's always evening somewhere''

Please tell me why this great adage should be in this video. I dont get it, but it sounds good.

Great playing. Excuse me if my english is wrong.

  • @DanskeSange It's Always Evening is a reference to a song off our first album and should be the next video to be posted.... but it really is always evening somewhere, isn't it? ...and TY

  • @ardentoctopus Arh, i see. Thanks ! A question from a curious teenager..

  • Reminds me of Pink Floyd's "Seamus". You should get a dog to howl along on tracks like this... :D

  • how long have you been playing for?

  • @skoolboyification since cell phones where science fiction and we had to get up to change the channel.

  • @ardentoctopus but how long have you been playing slide for?

  • @ardentoctopus that was probably the best answer I've ever read for a comment, you sir, just made my day. :)

  • @eselta and you made my day as well, cheers

  • @findthemonthefloor I put a nut extender over the original nut, you can find them on line, cheers

  • @ardentoctopus thanks for the quick reply =)

  • @ardentoctopus oh i thought its a high gauge

  • @ardentoctopus That would make it easier to use the slide, right?

  • In your experience what type of slide do you prefer.

  • Really f'cking good! I Gotta go get one of these and be the next guitarist for Willie brown :P

  • Any chance you could hook me up with an MP3?

  • wow nice,

please can you give me the tabulature?

  • @TheCrazyGuitar111 I have no tabs, check out the lesson vid for a few tips, best I can do on that one.

  • a couple questions

what slide are u using in this video?

and when i try to do slide (acoustic guitar) it sounds really screechy sometimes i use a brass slide.

  • @nickteezy408 This is glass, I like both,,, It's a screechy style, just play louder then the screech:)

  • Imagine having to actually press down on the strings with that action... x_x

  • @FishStik5ive OK, I got it,,, )

  • Have you ever tabbed this piece? I'd love to learn it!!!

  • @BlazeNH No, not a fan of tabs...

  • broke my slide at a party, chicks lovee it.

  • i would love for you to come to the uk and play this song on one of our bands albums with a double bass and drum back up!

  • @TheNicoscerri Thanks... Never know... You near Hull?

  • i have to learn how to play with a slide... this is why guitar is great, just when you're getting bored with it it throws a new challenge your way

  • @jimmyshitbags do it!

  • Just fooking fantastic,as usual!:)

  • hey man thats sweet home chicago

  • @arnaudfable26 Isn't everything?

  • Goddamn!! That song deserves 6 stars. That's some deep blues boy.

  • this is old friends

  • Glass, plastic, or metal slides? Which do you prefer??

  • @indieRknRlr I have lots of glass and brass slides, I get my moods, they are both good. Plastic won't work very well, I have used a lighter in a pinch but quickly re-tune for standard play or find something else, Thanks

  • zooom

  • i really need one of those how much do they normaly cost
