Nice technique but since nails are made of keratin (a protein, just like your hair!), they don't require oxygen and do not need to "breathe" the way your skin does. :)

The stains you get from wearing polish to long is not from your nails needing to breath, its just color transfer. Sand, and buff those suckers out! :D

You need to push back your cuticle.

@1josielove you really shouldnt mess with cuticles, there there for a reason, to hold your nail into the nail bed, the more you push them back the more damaged they become and dont grow as well, this can result in your nail falling out or stopping growing at the base. xx

OTL the best tips i can tell you is each week, taper off one nail not to bite. think to yourself 'okay, i can still bite every nail; just not the two thumbs' then the next week if you've succeded, ban another nail or two until you knock them all out. if you start biting them out of habit, switch to a different nail you haven't banned yet. :) helpful?

@EVILCUPKAKES I used to bite my nails all the time. I tried so many "solutions" but none really worked. I even put hot sauce on my nails and I still bit them. I finally stopped with chewing gum. I kept it on me at all times and when I would go to bite my nail I'd stick a piece in my mouth. After about 2-3 months of this I had no urge to bite my nails. I still keep a nail file with me always because it's a lot more tempting to me to bite when they are split or rough. Good luck :D

Also CUT your nails, with nail cutters, when they get too long or start peeling off. That way you won't be tempted to bite them. If that's not enough, you can get nailpolish that tastes like earwax (sold to break kids of the finger sucking habit).
