THanks ChaChi for posting this. A 1.8 litre diesel? Who would have thought! I had two 300SD's. Despite the weight those cars got about 32 MPG, and the worst I ever got was 21. Hold on to that beauty!
wow u still have the orignal dynamo and ur diesel injectors and injector pump
needs repairing or servicing ,tell ur garage personal to retared the injection pump timing its bit on the advance side ,maybe for the quick starting of engine ..the diesel knock is terrible .
In the mid-late 1950s, I took a lift in a 180D Mercedes Benz taxi in Dublin. In those days it was a big novelty to travel in one of these. There was a certain local taxi company which had a fleet of these and they were painted blue. Ever since that magical morning, Mercedes are and always will be my favourite car on the road.
very nice car, our 180D started up right away and he'd been standing for quite a while.. we are currently restoring it and I'm going to make a video slideshow afterwards
the motor sounds like a song ! just perfect !

Pretty well made chassis for the time. Much safer than contemporary cars from the United States.

Congratulation on this beauty. It brought back memories. I learned to drive on one just like it in the early 60's
