Why do all you guys act like the Corvette is the best thing ever? It's a lot of car for the money true, but not a car I'd want to be in a crash or rollover in. The driveline layout was used by Alfa Romeo and Porsche for decades before it ever showed up in a Corvette.
"Superior" is always in the eye of the beholder. Personally I'd buy a Ford GT before a Z06 and a 997 Porsche before either of those.
Most people that know of cars wouldn't say the Z06 is he best thing ever. I don't think it's a stretch to say, "best bang for the buck". You wouldn't buy a Ford GT if you didn't have $150K. Most ppl don't. Most can't even afford a $70K Z06.

Driveline layout in a Porsche is Rear engine transaxle. Unless Porsche have changed something I don't know about. The Vette is front engine, center transmission. How did the vette copy that? Besisdes the Vette has had the same general setup since 1953. Front engine, mid tranny, rear drive.
Shack Man...the Porsche 928 used a front mounted liquid cooled V8 with rear transaxle with the driveshaft mounted in a torque tube that ran between the engine and trans. There were no universal joints in the driveshaft. The C5/C6 series Corvette uses the same basic engine/trans config as the Porsche 928. That being front engine rear transaxle. I never said they copied it, only that it was the same basic layout. A lot European cars blazed the way for the technology you now see in the Vette.

Before you go running your trashy pro euro mouth you need to know what you are talking about before you say it. The Z06 ( not the most sophisticated car but still superior to all Euro cars even close to the price range) The car has a 7.0L small block. Its a marvel all in itself it should make ripley's because it smokes lambos and ferrari astin martin ect ect only a fraction of the cost and a whole lot better fuel economy.

well you see, lambos, and astons, ect. all are made of basicly the same components, but, they say every element on the periodic table to describe the body material, when, it is just carbon fiber or something like it. brits say, this noble is made out of numatic fluid mixed with uranium and corbon and mercury, this is very light
