The speaker does not say there is nobody in the plane, He says the computer is in full control of the aircraft, wich is true becouse of the full fly by wire system.
I think it's a shame that the pilot is not in direct control of the aircraft. There were some accidents and incidents caused by the plane overrueling the pilot, this is one of them. Airbus is a great manufacturer but they seem to think pilots are incapable nowerdays and make the wrong choices the whole time.
@calmatosport All airliners are FBW, but the Airbus systems differs from Boeing and thoers in that the airplane decides, not the pilot. when the system is fully functioning (normal law) the aircraft cannot be stalled and manouvers are limited. Problems arrise when in "alternate law" (See Air France flt 447.
It's alleged that the misconception of the plane being unmanned and fully automated was spread as a result of the ignorance of the producers of this show. Specifically, they assumed that fly-by-wire = robot flying, and then from that made the conclusion that no-one was in the plane because of that.

The narrator was taken out of context because this is a fragment of the original clip. By saying "fully automated plane" and "flown by a computer" refers to the fly-by-wire system that this plane uses in which the pilot sends inputs to computers, not directly to control surfaces. The computer then relays those inputs to them.

errr, actually, the voice over is wrong.... airbus showed this new plane to the public at the time, they chose random people to be passengers in the plane as it took off and landed in front of the public at this show, i cant remember the reason it crashed though (i watched it on seconds from disaster) .... and there were a few deaths, so its actually quite sad

You know, that happened to me last week, there I was shopping, looking through the frozen veg, and out the freezer popped up an airline rep, said they had chosen me to be a passenger on a brand new plane.
I had no say in the matter, I had to go.
Luckily the plane I went on, had a pilot and other passengers, unlike this UNmanned plane where it was empty and flown by a computer.

Air France Flight 296 was a chartered flight of an Airbus A320 . On June 26, 1988. it was scheduled to fly low over Mulhouse-Habsheim Airport. it crashed into the tops of trees beyond the runway. The 2 pilots on board survived. 3 passengers died. Cause of the accident is disputed .
The common misconception of Air France 296 being an unmanned plane flown by a computer was created after TLC released a show without researching the crash appropriately . It certainly was a manned flight

The narrator was taken out of context because this is a fragment of the original clip. By saying "fully automated plane" and "flown by a computer" refers to the fly-by-wire system that this plane uses in which the pilot sends inputs to computers, not directly to control surfaces. The computer then relays those inputs to them.
