  • "G-sharp, guys." Take a look, young folks, at real talent and real musical knowledge and commitment.

  • The soul in this twists my heart so hard that on one day I could die, and on another I could fly. "Waiting for ..."

  • Sing it - whenever - the world falls apart....

  • I JUST LOVE THIS and SHO U RIGHT! Aretha is Soul Sista #1,1st Lady of Soul amd Undisputed Queen of Soul!! Aretha sang the hell out of this song with POWERFUL UNIQUE INTURPRETIVE SOUL GENIUS and very smooth around the edges! Arethas version is always SUPERIOR to patti's version! patti can be NOISY AND SCREECHY thinking that can help her MEDIOCRE STYLE!! Loud is NOT SOUL! SOUL is all elements of the TOTAL BLACK EXPERIENCE !! Queen Aretha is the total embodyment if what 1,000,000% Pure Soul is!!!!!

  • This is my first time hearing aretha sing this song. Im use to hearing Patti sing it; i think they both do an AMAZING job......soulful both of them.....

  • Every intepretation Aretha does of this song is amazing. I wish she would start back singing this in her shows.

  • look to the rainbow has always been one of my favorite songs by p labelle. firs time hearing a franklin sing it. now its my favorite y them both. wow

  • Aretha was on of the first R&B, Soul, blues, and etc. singers to cover it.

  • aretha inspiration of patti, patti and aretha greates. two queens!

  • I am so glad you said that. They both are Queens.

  • She sing's so so good ! ! !

  • Patti's Version and Aretha Version each speak for themselves. I think Patti is the greatest vocalist of our time, but no one should ever put the Queen Aretha down. Love and honor them both, because they deserve all good things for their longevity and talent.

  • Well said!

  • Patti i love her and aretha but I love aretha franklin better because she gives me chills inside and Patti also does too like when patti sings you turn me on off Labelle Nightbirds LP

  • Wonderful!

  • she is fantastic as a singer and a musician, All Hail the Queen!!!

  • Sing Aretha...

  • I could careless what anyone says about Patti. She is awesome. And on top of that, I like her version of this song so much better. ReeRee can sing but Patti can blow a stage up, in her dressing room with a mic.

  • Well I'm sorry Aretha isn't as "intelligent' to sing to her audience from her dressing room...

  • I speaking of the power of Patti's voice. Ree Ree is strong, however, Patti does this song justice. It is not a matter of intelligence.

  • Patti's version doesn't give this song justice. Patti struggles when it comes to singing a slow song, so she simply takes the song and either over sings or sounds like she just inhaled a tank of helium. Aretha's version is untouchable

  • two songs, two different singers, two different styles...

    love patti though

sometimes its hard to understand what aretha is saying...but i like her version too

  • does anybody know wut album i can find this song?

  • Aretha paved the road for every female singer from Patti, Chaka, and Gladys to Whitney, Mariah, and Christina. But as Aretha fans, and fans of these great ladies we shouldn't have to tear other singers down to build Ree up. There is room for all of them and talent recognizes talent.

  • How could she pave the way when they were making songs at the same time?

  • Comment removed

  • @arethafanatic Peaceful person you carry the heart of a new world's hope in your diplomacy and love.

  • how many times are we going to compare aretha and patti. Both are great singersand aretha was known world wide before patti even left her group. so as great as patti is she'll never be as magnicant as aretha!!!

  • The point is why are there attacks on BOTH singers. Patti & Aretha are different types and styles of soul singing. Frankly, I prefer Patti when she was with Labelle. The lyrics that Nona wrote really brought out Patti's great vocal gymantics that could be very impassioned. But Ree is the one after my own heart. Even though she does not sing the way she used to, she has a legacy that is unmatched. I'm just glad she is still here with us.

  • thompsont908 I don't understand the necessity for your attack on Patti Labelle, The way you bash Patti in this blog isn't necessary. When you give props to Aretha thompsont908 and then Dis respect Patti in the same sentence, it defeats the entire paragraph, Just like adding salt to a boul of sweet oatmeal you mess everything up, you have to then call it saltmeal Don't do that thompsont908.

  • They both wonderful Patti and Aretha!! Amazing singers, soulful and spiritual. And two diferent styles, the two renditions are amazing, everyone have their opinions, and for me Patti's vocals are untouchable, if u go see her live u will be blooww. And Patti is so fun to watch.

  • Please cut it out with the name calling. I have meet boths Patti and Aretha and they are both incredible women. The difference is Aretha was a gifted child performer. She was playing piano in her early teens.

Patti,Gladys,Diana,Chaka, etc. They cannot play piano. Aretha had two wonderful gifts her singing voice and her incredible piano playing. She was a lot more advance. In this video Aretha needs no one else to give a show. Unlike other artist. Aretha Frankiln is and Institution.

  • you tell em

  • Actually, the original version of this song is from a musical called Finian's Rainbow.. :D

  • Love both Patti's and Aretha's

  • i think she did a great job! i liked Patti Labelle's version! but there both great!!

  • That's my SWEET HEART....

  • Her voice is unbelievable! I've never heard anyone sing this song like her.

  • You should hear patti labelle's version! its unbelievable!!!!

  • I just listened to Patti's version and Aretha doesn't have anything to worry about. Aretha owns this song!

  • There really isn't anything to say...She's the best!

  • this is like taking a sleeping pill after hearing the incredible patti labelle's version. she does sound good, but she's a boring performer.

  • hey brain its obvious that your not an aretha fan because you would know that this song is called look to the rainbow.patti song is called somewhere over the rainbow, two totaly different songs. so get it together.

  • patti has recorded both songs. if you punch it in on her vids you'll see the best performance of it ever.

  • This sounds so meaningful... Its really brings tears to my eyes....It makes me think of her father C.L Franklin

  • wat happend with the good old days

  • Anytime Aretha is sitting at the piano, I know she's going to great and this time she didn't prove me wrong because she was great and very soulful!

  • If I recall correctly, Aretha sang this at the funeral of the Rev. Martin Luther King. Aretha, I adore you!

  • This whole "Look To The Rainbow" came from a Dinah Washington recording years ago. Aretha, I'm told, heard it and later revived it (she loved Dinah, who was a great friend of Rev. Franklin's). Patti's came later after she heard Aretha's version.

  • no need to lie. they both were dinah washington fans and patti did not copy anyone. her version is original and no one can touch it. i dare you to go see for yourself.

  • * She sing's so so so good mmmm ! ! !

  • What a inspiring message ! ! !

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • SOUL SISTER # 1
