All this feels good to talk and hear....but when reality bites.....it is not so cool!! Increased salary requirement leads to increased product costs ! Increased product costs result in increased living costs!! All this is but a vicious circle ! There is always a trade of between the quality and cost of education!
All this feels good to talk and hear....but when reality bites.....it is not so cool!!
The pay of a teacher will never go beyond a certain level (which is of course lower than most jobs) , this is so because increasing the salary/pay of a teacher amounts directly to increased cost of education. Increased cost of education gives rise to increased college expenses, Increased education costs result in increased salary requirement !!
Amir Khan is absolutely right , but what he said is nothing new or novel. This is being opined and said by any and every indian who has ever gone to a school. When the government can liberalise the economy, encourage information technology and research in space and the Antartica, why not reforms in primary education and quality of teaching? There is dearth of talent to take it up. High time the government paid attention to this.
conducting such event is very helpful to the viewers, better than the reality shows that r being hosted theze days. The opinions coming out towards advancing the overall stability in education is discussed in this particular debate. I hope debates like this give rise to enhance more educational opportunity to all the areas in our nation, no matter from urban or rural. Everyone should understand the importance of education as this is the only source to get a strong economy.
change will only come if u do something about it, not hearing the opinions of people like clinton and aamir khan, that will only bring it to light only for a little while then people will ignore it
As a US college student, I can't say much about the Indian school system. However, the problems Aamir highlights I also see in the US public school system. Educational systems shouldn't be cramming fact after fact into children's minds, but should be instilling a passion and love for learning. :: Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime. - Teach a kid a fact, the'll know one fact. Teach a kid to love learning, they'll discover millions of new ones.
i agree with you , but how many people say quote like that, and how little things are being done in the world, people will just say theyll do something about it, just to attract attention or bring light to the situation for like 5 minutes and then they ignore it and go onto something else thats the TRUTH!
its real honor to be tuday secrety clinton tuday...vae appy tu met er...lukin porward to t o earin ur thot.(scratch head).. ah um e um .. i have aaan you know.. slow down Mr. aamir
Kudos to Times Now for organizing such a great discussion. As we are moving in the process of being knowledge society its a great to move to understand the educational values. There is no sense to compare any person here. Everyone in the program has done great job in contributing ideas. Its ultimately about people how they take it and understand the importance of education.
HEY! 70% of the Indian problem came from religion. Who is god his god? God exist just in your head(subconscious). Help me to stop the religion in india. We indians can make our country better(modern), if we can stop the old religion and his stupid stroys. I need your help to stop the religion in india !Dont fight for your religion instead fight for your nation. The fact is thinking rational and not religious. We need a change of mindset in indian people!. Dont waste your time with religion.
Einstein revolutionized physics and aamir revolutionizrd indian cinema. All these ppl are most respected of their time. Education is not about how many degrees you have, its about ur passion towards the knowledge of field ur interested in. And i think in India, its such a big issue. i don't mean to critique, but parents do put their ambitions on kids and want them to be first in everthing, instead of encouraging them to follow their dreams. I think stealing a kid's dream is a huge sin. pls comnt
ok i don't usually read or post comments, but since its such an important issue...here it goes. First of all, ppl r saying because srk has a communication degree, he's better speaking about it. That is the point of this disucssion. Its not always ppl with degrees that are bright and make positive contribution to a society. Einstein, Bill Gates, Chris Gardener...and even Aamir khan, all these ppl were high school dropouts. But look at how they've changed the world.
just to say comparing bill gates and einstein to aamir khan is silly because bill gates and einstein were genius who had a profound effect on the entire world all aamir did was have an effect on india and those country which watch bollywood films.
Check out ! after 3:04 and absorb all the ideas .... we are still not creating students that question things but merely memorize formulaes ... we need to question and chellenge ideas to move ahead as a society.
wow ! At 3:05 the real meaning in being a world power !... it not who is better than whoever but what are u contributing to mankind that actually makes one a leader
india does not even have a single language or a common manner to express its ideas ... in a democratic society it is essential to have a common medium of communication so that the entire country is able to understand the needs of the country, and society.

How come this uneducated school drop out become India's education advocate.. he speaks real stupidity he makes no sense non sense. better change all Indian education to madrasa and Urudu.. here also minority appeasement.
wow youre like some jealous and greasy mallu. What do you mean by "minority appeasement" that since Muslims are a minority they should not be allowed leadership roles? And then what? Mallus should rule the world?
By getting good professionals in teaching we will be improving quality of teaching.
But the first thing is to provide education to 100%. Which is the goal these NGOs are working. More money should be spent on school and encouraging children to go to school. Make education affordable for everyone. Drop out rate should be 0 and education level should be 99% not 50 or 60 percentage.

what he means to say i think ,is we need high calibre professors - for that u need research oriented universities funded by govt.
unfortunately india is poor, and research is generally considered a luxury for the rich industrial countries.

Aamir has gone nuts, I agree that teaching needs to be on par with
Engg, Medicine, Law etc., but everybody should vie to be a teacher (that would be disaster, what about the other needs of mankind?)
