@Daraki1337 It's just a normal $20, six foot, fiber glass pole spear that I purchased at a sporting goods store. I have wrapped it in yellow electrical tape (to avoid splinters) and heat shrink tubing. I also wrapped a small nylon cord on one end to act as a grip.
@kookooDragonballs The dates you gave are for game fish in Utah. You can shoot carp year round on any lake and stripers year round on Powell I contacted Fish and Game twice to reconfirm that info.
@kookooDragonballs Part of the confusion is the way they wrote the Fish and Game manuel. That is what generated my phone call to them. Of course if your like me, sometimes game fish get in the way of my spear when I am going after carp.:-)
@Rinocerente July 27, 2010 is when we went to bear lake. The water was probably about 60 degrees. That is a guess though. I definitely needed my 7mm wet suit.
@kookooDragonballs Did you take freediving lessons for this? I live in Utah, and I really really want to learn to freedive and spearfish, but I've never had any experience in water deeper than 13 feet (Just pools haha. I went to Hawaii once...when I was about 8 months old, so nothing I could do but splash the water on the shore and look cute haha) and I've never had any sort of training in the water, but I'm a sufficient swimmer, and I held my breath for 2:40 above water one time. Thanks!
@Rinocerente Hey how's it going!? I learned how to snorkel when I was a Boyscout. Everything you mentioned is pretty much all you need to know/do for snorkeling and free diving (other than a warm wetsuit, snorkel, mask and fins.) There isn't much to snorkeling, but there are some helpful techniques. I usually go spearfishing every Tuesday morning up at Deer Creek Reservoir once the weather gets warmer. If you ever wanted to tag along I would love to give you some pointers.
@MrMuffin1985 No, not much of the "real" world in land-locked Utah. : ) I would love to travel and dive in the ocean though. It's just a matter of time and money.
@Elliadam84 yeah, I have cooked them up before, but I agree, they are boney. I want to find a place that would smoke them for me or I could just buy my own smoker. I don't know if that would take care of the boney problem though. : ) Maybe I'm not filleting them correctly.
Hey how did you strap that gopro camera on your arm? Is that something gopro sells or did you buy the strap together yourself? I want to try that with my own underwater camera!
@abzde It's a strap that I made myself. I'll post a video showing how I made it and all the parts necessary to make it. It has worked out very well. Go Pro has a wrist mount, but it makes the camera face away perpendicular from your arm. My mount allows it to face virtually any direction. There is one part of my arm mount that is provided by Go Pro (aside from the camera) that is the 90 degree pivot arm (which I'll show in my video.) Check back later or subscribe to my channel for the vid.
What kind of a spear pole did you use?

Hey man, love your videos...keep 'em coming. What do you do with your carp? I have tried eating them and they are good but so bony...
