I would like to clear something up. In 1948 there was mutual expulsion of populations. Arabs were expelled from their homes throughout Israel by the Jewish militia. Jews were expelled from East Jerusalem when Jordan captured the territory. Some of the expelled Arab refugees were resettled in East Jerusalem among other places. Now the Israeli courts have decided Jews ARE allowed to reclaim the properties they left in 1948. But the Arab refugees MAY NOT reclaim their properties in Israel.
Does anyone see why this is a problem? Arabs are being expelled by Jews reclaiming their property in East Jerusalem, but they have nowhere to go because they themselves were expelled from their towns and villages in Israel but ARE NOT permitted to reclaim their properties (even though they still hold the deeds). If this isn't pure apartheid/discrimination, I don't know what is.

I would like to clear something up. In 1948 there was mutual expulsion of populations. Arabs were expelled from their homes throughout Israel by the Jewish militia. Jews were expelled from East Jerusalem when Jordan captured the territory. Some of the expelled Arab refugees were resettled in East Jerusalem among other places. Now the Israeli courts have decided Jews ARE allowed to reclaim the properties they left in 1948. But the Arab refugees MAY NOT reclaim their properties in Israel.

As an atheist Israeli I would just like to say that these people represent what has become of Israeli Jewish Zionist society. It has reached the lowest of lows and adopted an extreme racist ideology no different than national socialism.

This does remind me of Louis Theroux's BBC documentary, "Louis and the Nazis", where a group of skinheads demanded to know whether Louis is Jewish and he refused to answer, because it really doesn't matter. Answering would mean he recognizes that fact that it makes a difference somehow whether he's Jewish or not.
I already said though that I'm an atheist Israeli. That's all there is to it.

@JerrySPsy, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm an atheist, hence I'm not a Jew, right, no? But... my Israeli ID carddid say "Jewish" under nationality before it said *****, and my Hebrew birth date of Heshvan 5742 still appears on it.
But that doesn't matter to me because I don't believe in any religion whatsoever. I'm not a "peacenik" and I think the people you refer to as peaceniks are in fact secular people like myself who just want a secular and democratic state.

Of course, the fact that I'm against a Jewish state doesn't mean that I support an Islamic state or any other state without separation of religion and state for that matter. So I'm definitely for fighting against Islamic terrorism. But this fight must be done as a democratic state, because only as a democratic state you have the moral right, as I see it, to defend yourself. If you're a violent religious fundamentalist yourself, how are you better than them?

Thanks for your post. It is nice to know there are some sane Israelis this day in age. The rest of Israeli society though is turning very right-wing nationalist and Israel resembles a nationalist-fascist European country more than it resembles a democratic country. It starts from Israel's elected leaders like Lieberman who incite against Arabs and use completely exaggerated security threats to stir nationalist sentiment. These are very dark days in Israel.

@chistinaatau, I didn't, and never do, play the holocaust card. But I do think it's wrong for people to try and deny the harsh reality of it. Israelis may not have been saints but they did what they needed to do to defend their land and people from the constant onslaught of Arab attempts to annihilate them - so don't blame the victor. Here's another house example: If you want to use your house to plan and implement brutal terrorism then expect it to get bulldozed the hell down.
