Well.. When you put it in a low gear [for example, on 7th gear] and you put on the jakes, it keeps it from going too fast.. I put it in 7th gear, which keeps me in the middle of 30-35 MPH, 15-20 RPMs.. then i apply the foot brake.. It helps so the foot brakes dont overheat

the only bad thing about that year model of trucks was they only had 2 stage jakes, rather than 3

So do the jakes keep the truck from accelerating when going downhill n your right gear or do they slow the truck down more?
