  • That piano feature has to be the most awesome/useless feature possible.

  • Oh shit, it's the future!

  • how much ?

  • I'm thinking about buying one of these. I have two questions for you. Does it work well on Macs, and is it easy to transfer files from the pen onto the computer?

  • @jeck876 as long as your not a faggot you should be good.

  • Wow! This is freaking awesome! I'll buy this for my next sem in nursing! This will definitely help aloot! Do they still sell this? Where can i buy it from? And does the pen run out of ink? If so, does it have a refill? Or do i have to buy a pen again? Also, if i run out of that paper, can i still write and record in a normal paper? Would it still have the same feature?

  • can it do integrals?

  • There was no 5 second delay, that was because when you were writing you weren't talking anymore

  • Well actually 2 questions lol!

  • Yes, this pen is absolutely fascinating...well by the videos I have watched and by reading about it. So I am kind of confused about the paper issue it will be a big hassle to go and buy another notebook everytime I run out of paper. I am only in 8th grade and I am having trouble with some subjects and this pen would really help me on some subjects! So 1 question is it very distracting? Or will it get me in trouble at school since it tells time and stuff? Thankyou for making this product!

  • Pressed send too early...I'm fascinated by the features of this pen but am still getting the hang of it. Thanks for your product feedback!

  • Do we have to use special paper/notebook it comes with or can it be any paper or book? Wouldn't be interested in buying it if I had to buy special expensive notebook every time I run out of space ...

  • @UnknownMeAsif it does use a special paper, however the papers are possibly free as you can print them yourself.

  • @UnknownMeAsif While it's possible to print the paper yourself, it's not very expensive to buy the notebooks. They're very, very nice, and pretty economical. They're as nice as comparably priced notebooks, so they don't gouge you on paper costs or anything like that.

  • Is there a way to reduce volume in pen?

  • i write really small, will it be a problem??

  • @MrAAK595 You can buy ink refills for it, I think a pack of 3 black ink cartridges and 1 red ink cartridge costs around $15-$20.

  • What if the pen runs out of ink? (excuse me for bad english).

  • the paper replay seems like it would be great for Foreign Language classes

  • it's cool, but is there really that much added value to just writing notes down normally and letting your mp3play/phone record on the side?

  • what if you run out of the livescribe paper?

  • @billfromhk You can buy more on there website starting from $7.95 for a 3 subject and 29.95 for a full one.

  • what happens if you make a mistake... a 400 dollar electronic white out pen im guessing?

  • @matadordn No, normal white ouy.

  • I sell the smartpen livescribe pulse 2gb in segundamano and ebay

  • Haha you seem to have a problem talking and writing at the same time, so by the time you clicked on your words you had pretty much already finished talking and were silent that's why you didn't have a proper demo of how good the notes and speech collaborated :) but I am soo happy to be getting one of these tomorrow!

  • What does the movies app do?

  • how much capacity of audio will it hold?

  • can you show me how you change the batteries on it?

  • I just bought my pen today, and I'm sad to say it freaking sucks. I'm gonna try and get it replaced.

  • you have nice hand writing and its very easy to understand you thats very cool

  • I have seen the future.

  • its so sick, thumbs up!

  • Can you replace the ink?

  • @ShineOnYouCD yes

  • @ShineOnYouCD yeah they got replacement tubes sold separately (not sure if extras are included)

  • this is out of this world! amazing

  • What happens when it runs our of ink ?

  • What happens if you write on a normal paper can it still record and replay whatever that have been written on that paper?

  • @alquiora No. Remember, the specialized paper has the dots in the background.

  • i have a professor who talks a million miles a minute and his lectures are often not structured and he rambles.... is this a good tool to maximize my success in his class? Also is it true that you can convert your notes into a word document on your computer? Can you pause the recording and resume on the same track?

  • Are you an engineer? Your notes look like my fluids class.

  • someone needs make an app where it can it solve algebraic formulas...i can take my own notes.

  • errr.....forgot to say, isnt this the ECHO pen...cause the pulse is something completely diff

  • this wud be sooooooo helpful with math hw. im so fucking buying one

  • can you refill the ink? is it normal ink? whats the difference between the pulse and echo pen? can you save anything written on any notebook-sheet on the pc? how big are the audio files if theyre like 2 hrs or so?

  • what if you ran out of pages?

  • @bboy1600 u buy some more.......

  • Wow you have neat lecture notes, lol.

  • Incredible cheat pen ;)

  • What happen if you stop writing for a bit. Does it keep recording.

  • Good video :) When you connect this pen up to your PC, does it convert your hand-written notes to text or does it show your hand-written notes?

  • Very cute... Wanted to see what others thought of the Livescribe when I caught your video. Not too many people will understand the 18.03 lecture reference :-) I miss Cambridge but I don't miss the winters!

Amazing piece of technology, the real question is: does it have a real function or is it more a nifty toy?

  • So your notes is gonna be a lot more dotted with this pen :P haha... But very cool features you show us. Very nice video. Thx :D

  • Thats amazing!

  • Does the pen also works on normal paper, or do you have to use the Livescribe Paper?

  • does it come with headphones?

  • Can you turn the volume off? So in the middle of class I do not have a bunch of clicks? Can you turn off the screen or reduce the brightness? Thanks!

  • can you turn off the display? The pen seems great but it might be distracting for myself and others during a lecture.

  • Do the special books cost a lot?

  • I wish I would have this Smart Pen when I was studying. It would really increase my marks.

  • i think it was delayed because you started talking before you wrote anything,

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW-

    does this pen translate Vietnamese??

  • Man, that pen has one cool ass voice.

  • what happens wen u run out of paper? can u use normal paper?

  • It might be better to research a product before you do a review. The pen does write on normal paper, but will not be usefull, so u can just aswell buy a normal pen to that end. It is also useless to demo the paper replay function if you are going to say something before you start writing, but stay silent while you are writing!

  • how much was it

  • dude i am trying to post a question, but youtube doesnt let me. please add me as a friend so i could ask you some questions!

    great review !!!

  • where u get it

  • another quick question, can we erase on the paper?/i guess a stupid question! but i need to know, how can i do corrections while i am writing ,thanks again ,your demo is great:)

  • is the black the only color we can write in? no other options? thanks

  • Pazzesca!

  • um how does it pick up your teacher lol u must sit close or your teatcher must talk loud and isnt it a distraction?

  • mmm, stokes theorem, joy. I want one of these now though ;)

  • for the piano, can you draw the black keys to play sharps and flats? the piano might be a big reason why i'm buying this pen!! thanks!

  • @silymnd Negative

  • what kind of camera did u use to record this video? It was like you hand a handsfree camera and it felt like as your eyes moved the camera moved... neat!

  • @dapoet200

Haha, it's your typical handheld camera, I held it in my left hand for the entire video. My arm was REALLY tired at the end of it.

  • @jzzsxm ha cool. And very informative video about the pen. I learned a lot. I had never heard of this pen before. Great job.

  • @jzzsxm wow, u have a steady hand haha.... cool review i think im gonna get one for school now lol

  • Great review. Is there a store where I can sample the pen and get a more hands on feel for it.

  • hey isn't this the same as the fly fusion pen??

  • @shadowheart43 noooo,, its way better than the fly pen trust me i have the fly pen..lol

  • @liomaritimo i'd rather just buy notebooks and save ink. the ink is going to be way more expensive than the notebooks. plus its really annoying

  • @ehrahman no one is making you use the piano during a lecture or meeting

  • how much for the pen

  • your notebook is pretty organized XD mine is a mess, so i guess the pen would come in handy

  • Thanks so much for the detailed review.

  • Is the paper expensive?

  • @introligat0r 20 bucks for a 4 pack of notebooks

  • How great is the recording feature? I would only be interested in this pen if it will record the professor well enough to actually hear what he/she is saying. There seems to be a lot of white noise...perhaps newer models are better.

  • @TheFlutetube i have a fellow student that used his in a noisy air craft hanger recording someone pretty far away and he said he could hear the guy perfectly. he set his pen to "lecture hall" mode

  • Are you studying engineering? Your notes look like thermo with the Bernoulli and Navier-stokes!

I don't like that there is so much white/background noise in the audio, but what can you expect from a mini recorder? I wonder if you sit at the front of the class if the audio would be better.

  • Is there a way to mute the little clicks and sounds that the pen makes when it presses a button? I don't want it to make noise during class.

  • Yes: there is full volume control. When you mute it, no noises will be made.

  • This simply isn't true. I've owned 4 of these pens now and have used dozens more. Mac support is limited but not buggy, and apart from some server overloads on Livescribe's new App Store, everything works exactly as advertised.

  • @jzzsxm agree i have had no trouble with my pen. everything works perfectly. maybe you just fail.

  • After a while your notes will be covered in dots.

  • Well if you got the pen you get a slip to go over the ink stuff, and like for those type of things the dots wouldn't be there if you had the slip to go over it.

  • @0prahTV they sell stylus's on the livescribe store. you just take out the ink cartridge and put in the stylus

  • There's no delay, what happened in 5:44 is that he wasn't talking while he was actually writing, so the appearance of delay

  • thanks for the throughout review

  • Thats what you call College.

  • It sounds like you never when to college so I would not be talking.

  • thanks for the demo I am going to definitely buy one tomorrow.

  • damn your notes are neat

  • cool my mum has one for her work

  • sweet does the ink run out?? how to replace it

  • @Paperdollz1 of course the ink runs out..where do you think it would all be coming from? some teleporter inside the pen? you buy spare cartridges on the livescribe store

  • too long dude, get to the meat! (ie - uploading to pc)

  • Wow your notes are so damn neat!

  • oh yeah and wtf is with ur mouse pad it looks like its connected to the pc? please let me know thats bugging me!!

  • It's not a mouse pad, it's a wacom tablet.

  • @pandaSmore whats a wacom tablet?

  • @str8sushi Holy crap old comment batman! They're a collection of active digitizers designed by the company Wacom. The majority of their tablets are designed for the professional side, mainly in the graphic and multimedia field.

  • thanks for doing this review. because of it, i bought the $150 1gb pen and then later at costco the $200 2gb premium pack after losing the first at bestbuy then found it again. then they lowered the price at target so i got $20 off the first. so now i have 2 pens and am so satisfied. (also, if any of u buy, get the leather case)

  • awesome dude, this pen is incredible dam the inventor is smarty pants lol

  • thx! very helpfull

  • Can you use 1 notebook for all your lessons in school and than map it in the pc (math notes in a math folder and chemistry notes in a chem. folder?

  • I want this pen!

    It's freakin' amazing.

Just curious, What's the longest the audio can record for?

  • @JustLikeEvery1 on the website with the quality set on low and the 4 gig pen. 480+ hours. theres a whole chart in the faq section where someone asked this question

  • very nice and thorough review of this pen jzzsxm.very impressed and satisfied with what i see.you made it very clear and easy to understand.well done.plan to get one myself for college.WHOO im a subscriber!!

  • AHH! I want oneee!

  • The audio seems a bit hard to understand though. And how do doodles woork? If you draw a design and the professor is talking, does it still have paper replay?

  • @rasselas16 ya if you're recording while drawing a picture, if you touch on a part of the picture the recording will start from the time you drew that section of the drawing.

  • How I wish I had this at University :(

  • does all of this stuff only work on their special paper?

  • Yeah, but you can print your own paper. No need to buy their notebooks.

  • Its cheaper to buy a livescribe notebook though

  • yes.but its easy to get

  • It's fun. Nobody will use it during a meeting or lecture, but it's still fun to show friends and noodle around with.

  • lol i can imagine someone doing that in a meeting

  • I use it during lectures, it works GREAT for studying tests, I wish i had had this pen since i started kindergarten lol.

  • i just need to know if the pen is comfortable, if it feels right in your hand and is quality on the most basic level. does anybody know?

  • It does, I have absolutely no issues with it. It's wider than most standard pens, but that's understandable and not uncomfortable.

  • @Akoura it's as wide as the pens we use at work all the time so i'm used to it already. might be different for you.

  • I'm a very slow and messy writer. I really need to get this.

  • Excellent videos.

How long does the battery charge last?

    Thanks,

    Max

  • 7 hours while recording audio, ~16 hours just writing.

  • Great review, easy tutorial, a must watch video

  • Can you turn the volume down or even off on the speaker. Like if I didnt want my teacher to hear it?

  • nvm i just say the second video lol

  • I believe there's a headphone jack

  • Yes, you can turn the volume down or off

  • Im getting one for free cant wait.

  • how did u do that?

  • how did u get one for free?

  • Well the Dept. Of Veterans Affairs medical center provides it for veterans who are going to school. They provide to veterans who developed memory problems due to a bombing in iraq. So pretty much its a neat tool to help us do well in class. They offer us PDA's as well, but its not as useful since I have my blackberry lol

  • oh, cool

  • omg this is great!! your camera focuses and the sound quality is excellent. Thanks :)

  • Does it have a mute button or somthing to shut off the sound?

  • There's a mute button on the paper that you just touch. Or you can turn the volume down.

  • heheheh. you take really neat notes dude.

  • good review man

  • how many notebooks can you use the pen with?

  • only ones with the special dot matrix paper printed on it. once you have downloaded the software you can print your own from home, but as for notepads, only ones from their website.range of notepads will work.

on normal paper it can still record audio and write in ink, thats it.

  • It looks nice..

    1. How is the sound i realty? it didn't sounded that good in the movie?

    2. How far away are you from the lecture?

    3. Does it come as a rigid pencil?

  • Very Nice Review! Just picked it up from CostCo w/ 4 Extra College Rule NoteBooks and Red/Blue/Black Ink for 179.00 (2GB Version)
