  • Of course they know his family-they are his family.

  • For some reason, after 6:17, this episode was cutted here on Brazil. 20 years after I still don't get why.

  • When I saw this Woody episode after seeing the later ones, I immediately loved this voice more. Too bad they didn't keep Mel Blanc on. Universal missed a gold mine, the fucks.

  • Opium - This is a dope

  • its entertaining but now as funny as it use to be. :(

  • Anybody else thinks that Woody Woodpecker should be Daffy Duck's adopted brother?

  • It had the same ending as daffy and egghead

  • Whatever happened to good old cartoons like these?

  • the episode of ANDY PANDA no woody woodpecker but the first episode when woody apear c:

  • XD XD XD It`s most fun from 1:47 to 2:15 !!! XD XD XD That baby panda just killed me!!! I couldn`t stop lafing for 5 minutes!

  • the very first line he says is not speed up LOL

  • Just wipe the salt off woody.

  • The instant betrayal made me lol so hard xD

  • I love these cartoons! The new cartoons suck! They're boring and senseless, these old cartoons had history and very original

  • @bombokado2000 this is like finding gold how can you not like this!?!?! the simpsons, family guy, and southpark teaches bad things not woody the woodpecker

  • The first Woody's cartoon... :D

  • thank you so much for sharing this great show that's very rare to see

  • Two facts, both involving Warner Bros. 1. Ben Hardaway who was responsible for the early Bugs Bunny created this cartoon. 2. Mel Blanc provided the voice. He originated the laugh from the Pre-Bugs era.

  • This is clearly a very early Woody cartoon. It's interesting that his antics so resemble those of an early Daffy. Early Bugs Bunny had the same kind of style. Whether it's blatant imitation or just typical "funny animal" hijinks is open for conjecture. Either way it's still damn funny and reminiscent of an era when movie companies produced cartoons as a form of cheap entertainment, not for profit, and so the individuals who made them had the time to make works of art unlike the crap of today

  • you know somethin' this Woody reminds me of the early Daffy Duck.

  • I remember this from my Woody Woodpecker VHS I had as a kid. I used to keep re-winding it to the part when Woody first appeared through the hole he pecked into the roof (1:43) hahaha the Panda's anger was immense

  • Woody woodpecker is not a daffy duck copy, woody was created by Ben Hardaway the same guy who create both characters ,they are similars only.

  • i laughed so hard at 1:15 the panda thought he was going crazy

  • I would say the same thing if my girlfriend exploded

  • curious, here's part was edited in Brazil do not know for what reason the design has just this brand 6:14 , is the second time I see the real end in 23 years that I watch woodpecker

  • lol y he look so different now

  • cool!!!!!

    i subbed thnx

  • 1:42 wrong voice

  • Woody is my favorite!!!

  • do you have the original version,in black and white?

  • @br2501

The original was always in color.

  • i think the first 4 were the voice actor same with daffy

  • i like the end

  • funny with the gun part when woody had it

  • @2:20, Now this is a cartoon!

  • I've always wondered why his voice goes deep when he says that line....

  • i only had one Woody Woodpecker tape and it contained mostly Baby Huey and yet the sticker on the tape says "Woody Woodpecker" which is weird it's apart of my Toon Town tape collection of Looney Tunes (1992 VHS Tapes) it's weird

  • 100* awesome!

  • Too bad the picture isn't clearer more. I got the same video too, but clearer and close caption. Take a look and see for yourself. Not trying to take your viewers away from you.

  • lol at 3:26

  • That crazy bird! Pajaro moi loco!!

  • i just read at wikipedia that this is the first appearance of Woody Woodpecker

  • thats right....and he soon became the Lanz studios biggest "star" , eclipsing both Andy Panda and Oswald the Rabbit before him.

  • So if you use salt , you can catch a woodpecker.

  • this ending is similar to Daffy Duck and Egghead....i wonder if it's the same guy who wrote it.

  • Leon Schlesinger Produced and did Looney tunes and Merrie Melodies until 1944 when Leon sold Leon Schlesinger studios to Warner Bros. Leon Schlesinger did Daffy duck and Egghead and Walter Lantz Did this cartoon "Knock Knock" With woody's voice provided the one and only man of 1000 cartoon voices Mel Blanc.

  • Right, and after Blank contracted to work only for Warner's , Walter's wife Gracie took over as Woody's voice

  • Mel's last name is spelled B-L-A-N-C Blanc.

  • @looneytunes9000 yeah haha It was like 4 am when I typed that, I was a bit out of it! ^_^'

  • Oh LOL :)

  • well i know that Blanc was the voice of Woody for four cartoons but were the writers the same too?

  • No there were different writers Mel worked with at Universal.

  • It was!

  • @silenttakuza They probably just ripped it off, like they did the Woodpecker character (who is clearly an imitation of Daffy Duck).

  • Walter Lants directed a good animation than Paul Smith... in version of Walter, the animation is like of Walt Disney

  • There are 3 woodpeckers, bravo!

  • Guys! This is a andy panda cartoon in 1940!

  • At 1:44, they forgot to speed up Woody's voice! That goof also appeared at the end of "Pantry Panic"

  • @wilek209 no that's actually woody actual voice when he slows down.

  • @wilek209 no that's actually his actual voice when he slows down. plus remember hes a silly woodpecker.

  • I think it was likely done on purpose as an effect

  • @wilek209 Actually, that WAS his voice back then. I'm related to Walter Lantz(My name IS Lantz), I know some stuff about Woody, his wife Grace is the one that did his later voice. This voice is Mel Blanc, Ben Hardaway was around for a while after Mel, but Grace was the last.

  • @wilek209 lol i now thats wat i said too, but idk i think they did it in purpose but yea i still think that lol

  • @wilek209

Omg, you see Woody but hear Mel Blanc!

  • Comment removed

  • @wilek209 I think 1:44 is a joke. First he has a deep voice and then he has a speed voice. At Pantry Panic i think its a rejoke.

  • @wilek209 I think that may have been on purpose. The first time we hear the character the creators may have wanted him to sound loveable, you know so that he isn't perceived as just an annoying character.

  • The first episode

  • @Cauaobom Sorry but it's not the first episode. This is an Andy Panda cartoon.

  • woody's one weakness....

  • dick

  • Oh noes! Greedy corporations aren't getting their money. Who fucking cares?

  • when posts get more than -6 (thumbs down) then ya know the person got PWN3D. (8 people clicked it before it even registered 6, because once it reaches 6 there is no way to recover that post) hahahha.

  • bueda fish

  • Thanks for posting hadnt seen this in years! Hated it when they took these old cartoons off of Saturday morning!

  • Catgumart, that is Correct this is the first appearance of Woody Woodpecker and First appearance of Mel Blanc as The voice of Woody Woodpecker.

  • i love dis show

    ty

  • it is a cartoon,a big cartoon,it is a woody woodpecker hahahaHAha hahahaHAha hahahaHAha hihihihihihihihihi

  • the 1st woody woodpecker i saw : D

  • first appearance of woody according to wikipedia

  • wow! i used to have the episode on vhs when i was a kid XD

  • hahaha, nice ending

  • that woody was a menace, lol, but you gotta love'em

  • Salt in beer! Man, that's OLD! My dad used to do that ages ago.

  • Wow, the 1st Woody Woodpecker's cartoon!!! He was so mad!!! =D

  • oh great, more woodpeakers.!(

  • wow how old is this?

  • It's from 1940.

  • DAAANG!!!!! thats COOL!! =]

  • Well, pretty much anytime you see Woody or Tom & Jerry or Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse or any of those guys---95% of all that stuff was made from the 1930s through the 1960s.

  • They couldn't get away with the opium joke these days!

  • No joke!

While it's so fun to go back and watch some of these cartoons as an Adult (with a whole new understanding/appreciation of the subtleties involved!)...

...it's also rather sad, because it makes you realized just how much of a pussified nanny-state that children's programming has become today :(

  • I couldnt agree more. Old time shows like woody greatly surpass todays cartoons.

  • Did you see that? I have this cartoon on a reel from when I had my sound projector...and that was the first thing I noticed!

  • This is the REAL Woody Woodpecker, not the commercial friendly one that they started making in 1946, This is what Woody is supposed to be, an annoying maniac with no concious or sense of morals.

  • This was actually an "Andy Panda" cartoon, released in November 1940, which introduced Woody to movie audiences for the first time. Mel Blanc provided his voice {as well as "Daddy Panda"}. It's no accident that Woody sounds and acts like the early prototype of Bugs Bunny {"Happy Rabbit"}, because Ben "Bugs" Hardaway, who wrote the story, created that character for Leon Schlesinger at Warner Bros, before departing to work for Lantz's studio in January 1940.

  • Also very similar to the early Daffy Duck

  • this is the real first appereance of woody

  • Guess who? xD

  • I just noticed at 01:43 Woody says his famous "Guess Who!?" in a regular voice! Looks like the sound people forget to speed it up! LOL.

  • That is the same laugh Mel Blanc used for Bugs Bunny's prototype Happy Rabbit

  • This was the fourth and final cartoon in which Mel Blanc voiced Woody.

  • This is actually the FIRST Cartoon which Mel Blanc voiced Woody.

  • They were 2 other Woodpecker's like him at the end.

  • We know his whole family..... theyre all batty ..Woody was the Best!!!

  • Wow. Woody Woodpecker's just like Daffy Duck - His first appearance is on someone ELSE'S cartoon, and he suddenly ends up becoming more popular than Andy Panda!

Confidentially, Daffy originally appeared on a Porky Pig cartoon, and he ended up more popular than him.

  • @YoshiAngemon When you think of it, that's also how Popeye became popular in the "Thimble Theare" comics, in which he originally was not the main character.

  • @YoshiAngemon plus the ending is just like daffy duck and egghead cartoon

  • I'll be damned- I was just watching this one on an old VHS tape a few hours ago and here it is on YouTube.
