actually, no: two French armies and a French fleet defeated Cornwallis at Yorktown. Washington and some men were there but wouldn't have won without the French.
And the middle colonies were still fully occupied by the British after Yorktown as well as Georgia and the Floridas.

The UK needed the US supplies, but yeah, you were the (supply guys). Britain's role was vital, not just in terms of boots on the ground, but intelligence, spies/spy planes, code breakers, special forces (SAS).
Just read any book about Britains involvement, and you will see.

@patriot6157 You would be wrong. There were 5 landing beaches. The Americans took Utah and Omaha, the British Juno and Gold, and the Canadians took Sword. It was Russia who absorbed almost all of Germany's troops in both wars. 85% were on the Eastern Front in WWII. SO all the US had to do was (help) defeat an enemy plagued by tactical overstretch, whereas Britain fought alone for a year, and the USSR was brutally attacked. The USA itself never had to defend any attack.

actually, no: two French armies and a French fleet defeated Cornwallis at Yorktown. Washington and some men were there but wouldn't have won without the French.
And the middle colonies were still fully occupied by the British after Yorktown as well as Georgia and the Floridas.

The UK needed the US supplies, but yeah, you were the (supply guys). Britain's role was vital, not just in terms of boots on the ground, but intelligence, spies/spy planes, code breakers, special forces (SAS).
Just read any book about Britains involvement, and you will see.

Yup, Britain and the SU were being hit with bombs from Germany, but America (well, the states, anyway) were unscathed. Imagine how it would've been if the Imperial Air Force were were flying over the west coast of the US or the German Luftwaffe in "Battle of Washington D.C."

@MrTimooth Your comment is entirely out of perspective. We're only too aware of our late entries in both world wars, and of the incalculable sacrifice of the Soviet Union. We realistically understand, as does the world the invaluable contribution and inevitable turning of the tide of the war, due to our participation. Which, by the way, was the indisputable participation both financially and militarily, which brought about the demise of Nazi Germany.

@pressbox1492 Another idiot who watched hollywood saving private ryan (made by americans) and used it as a history lesson. Go read some books on the British Empire involvement then come back. Britains involvement was vital to winning the war, not just in terms of our spies who contributed MASSIVLY behind enemy lines, or our special forces, but just in sheer numbers. Almost half of the Allied soldiers on D-day were British.I can smell your lack education all the away from England.

@MrTimooth I'm pretty sure we lost way more troops on D-day then any other country i haunt researched that though just from figures that have been thrown out there. in both world war 1 and 2 it was fresh american troops that helped back british troops to defeat germany. at the end of the day every one did their part. life is full of what ifs. if the winter in russia wasn't the worst they had had in like a century then things may have been different. the russian front might have been conquered.

@patriot6157 You would be wrong. There were 5 landing beaches. The Americans took Utah and Omaha, the British Juno and Gold, and the Canadians took Sword. It was Russia who absorbed almost all of Germany's troops in both wars. 85% were on the Eastern Front in WWII. SO all the US had to do was (help) defeat an enemy plagued by tactical overstretch, whereas Britain fought alone for a year, and the USSR was brutally attacked. The USA itself never had to defend any attack.
