I'll always prefer it to any cover. But I really dig this version. It's raw. Dock Boggs' music was raw. Back then country/blues was raw. And clearly these guys have respect for his music. The original is no less simple overall, perhaps so in some ways, yet more complex in others. While I usually like originals to covers, I have to say I much prefer the Kills' Velvet Underground take on the song over the original's honkey ass poor man's Robert Johnson's They're Red Hot version. While I hesitate to insult the taste of the Kills by saying their version is better than the guy they're paying respect to [which is indeed a good song], their version is better.
