  • I still got the record cover for the 45 single to this...not sure if I have the 45 tho, Loved this song when I was a kid coming up....Too bad he didn't do a lot more stuff....Great tune! Takes me back to my days of hanging out and cruising the strip. Good memories!

  • I remember two versions - one in Toronto, 1982, and another in Houston, 1982.

  • Whoever edited this needs to have their ears checked or learn the meaning of the word TIMING because completely miss every beginning beat in their edits, lol. not a nice thing to do to ALDO ! ! ! !

  • its got COW BELL !!!!

  • Oh wow, phenomenonal!!! Really takes me back so many years!!!

  • This song defined my breaking out point upon leaving my parents house in 1982 leaving the Island of Puerto Rico in the distance as I watched it from the airplane window. This song had already been released in the island of Puerto Rico and having sampled the music I embraced it as my own definition as I grew more and more enamoured with Heavy Metal. Being a preacher's son and living in a controlled environment this was my passport to music freedom. Thank you Aldo Nova!

  • i use to love this song, i was a freshman in hight school when this came out. I still have the album

  • @mojofilter02

Seriously, I read it somewhere...on one of the music sites. Also read the same thing on one of Aldo Nova's videos. Saying that they started Heavy Metal, and they were the starters before Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, ect

If I find it or read it again, I will post a link for you.

  • They say that Aldo Nova started the trend of what is known today as "Heavy Metal", with their heavy guitar riffs and pounding drums.

Can still remember the first time I heard Fantasy on the radio. First came the cassette, then in early '85 was the CD. Still have it, and it gets played a lot.

    Good shit, Maynard!!!

  • @Kingropes They do? Who are they? This is the first time I've ever heard it said about Aldo. It was said about Steppenwolf, and it was said about Deep Purple, two bands who invented heavy metal while Aldo was still a kid. I mean, he made great records, but the likelihood that Aldo is responsible for heavy metal is zero and none. Heavy metal had been around for over a decade when this record came out.

  • @Kingropes Yeah I loved Aldo Nova back then but to say they had anythin to do with inventing heavy metal...man thats just pure bullshit

  • This is a song that was underrated but never outdated. It's on my list of the top 10 best rock songs of the 80s.

  • I gotta get this,it was the 1st video that i ever saw on mtv,not the buggles 4 me,OK? i'd love 2 get the wax,but if not i guess that the digimess will have 2 suffice, but i am digging this, yeayeayea,OW?!

    right-on/rock-on\m/!

  • I suspect that this is a fairly recent DAW edit, and not some original issue mix. The editing is a bit dodgy in places. Either way, not bad, and fun to listen to.

  • @Lengsel7 You are probably correct. Because my edits would have been much smoother. ;)

  • Where did you get this unique 12" mix from? Cause judging by the fact that you don't know the catalogue number, it appears that you don't have it.

  • @OldMusicOnVinyl1

I found it on someone's blog while looking for images for the other 12" version I was going to post. But this one was more rare, so I went with it instead. I still haven't been able to find a reference to this version. But it was definitely a record, because I removed the clicks and pops and vinyl noise from it.

  • First time I heard this song I was hooked instantly, nice extended version!!!

  • Always loved this tune. :)

  • Amazing song...1982. Anybody know if it went on top of the charts?

  • The intro is so out there, theres no comparison. none.

  • i remember roller skating to this back in the day!!! such a great tune!!! CLASSIC!!!

  • the solo is so sick!! i just wish this track was in Vice City in the V-ROCK radio station!!

  • This song is still here... THANK THE LORD.... I used to be TGAHFAN but now I am back online under other accounts... This song still rocks and brings back of those trips to Myrtle Beach and hanging out with my Dad. RIP dad... This song is for you....

  • Nice!! xD thanks to steel panther am stuck on this amazing artist! :D

  • Wow. Love this extended remix. Regular version and this version very popular in the clubs in the 80's. Heard it on the radio a lot, as well, in that era. (Actually heard it on the radio today - a nice surprise - hadn't heard it in a long time.) This song rocks and sounds awesome on an excellent sound system. Instrumentals outstanding all the way through, but especially from about 6:40-7:25 as an addition in this extended remix version. Exceptional! Thank you for posting this.

  • Download on iTunes I think its been digitally remastered. We have to purchase a few to keep the music companies leaving the videos up on YouTube. Peace out...

  • Not this version! It has never been reissued in digital format.

But by all means, please support the artist and buy his music from wherever it is available.

  • If this version were to be re-released in digital, I'm there with cashola. Record companies take note!

  • SWEET!

  • great song.thansk for sharing.use to fast skate to this tune at stardust roller rink in richmond,bc.those where the good old days.hot cars ,hot chicks, and great tunes........cheers..........ken

  • This is the BEST version of this song!!!

  • I dedicate this song to the memory of a friend who I haven't seen for a long time, New Hampshire State Trooper, Bruce Ela and his best friend, Jimmy Smith R.I.P. This song is embedded in my human essence and the memories when we were younger especially the night that you and Jimmy went camping and got rained out so you came to my house to dry up and crash. This song reminds me of that time and place.

Regards, Jonathan La Salle, Marlboro, Ma

  • I wish that an mp3 of this was available as I already own everything Aldo Nova released except for Nova's Dream. Too bad this one can't be downloaded of the 12 " mix or if this was taken from a cd or lp single.

  • I have a mp3 of this video

  • Hey Buddy - did you receive my previous email???

  • This great music was issued in 1982 people still comment about it .That's what i love about YOUTUBE, True talent will never be forgotten. and i am not just talking about Aldo who is a genious .

  • GREAT VERSION!!!

  • I had this on vinyl and cassette, wished I still did. I was 16 the summer this was big, we used to turn it up to cruise the mall. AKA the good old days. Thanks for posting this.

  • cool. never saw the newer pix.

  • Love this and THANS UMG for letting it stay on you Tube... You guys Rock... I remember hearing this while on the road to Myrtle Beach back in the day... Awesome times and kick ass song.....

  • It boggles my mind that some one or some group of individuals could produce such a crafted song.

Lyrics could be more meaningful though.

  • That was truly awesome!

  • I have the original LP, having purchased it when it was released. This is definately a unique remix, and quite well done. I would imagine the creator used not only the original version, but perhaps several parts of the remixes to achieve the result we hear. The edits are extraordinary. Thank you for posting this great song.

The LP catalogue number is FR 37498

  • No mistaken that voice ... Thanks

  • I never realized he was such an innovative artist. Also I never even knew what he looked like until seeing your pictorial montage.

You sure keep those great posts coming.
